I walked into the Mooresville location yesterday with a battery I purchased from this very store…read morejust two years ago--still well within its 4-year warranty. I had already removed the battery from my vehicle and driven 30 miles to return it. Although I'll refrain from calling out individuals by name, I was immediately told that the battery needed to undergo a 24-hour test to determine whether it would hold a charge. Then I was asked, "What do you want to do?" I explained that my truck was stranded and that waiting 24 hours simply wasn't an option. My concern received no meaningful response. Instead, my only choice presented was to purchase a new $270 battery while the original one was being tested. I was warned that if I installed the new battery, it would be considered "used" and non-returnable. I explained that this put me in a no-win situation, and only then was I told I might receive a refund if the original battery failed the test. To avoid being stuck with a non-returnable battery, I borrowed a car overnight and waited for the test results. When I called the next morning, I was told they never actually performed the test because they "have to take the batteries off the chargers when they leave for the night." Instead of acknowledging the inconvenience this caused, the employee launched into a long explanation of store policies and excuses. When I explained that I had borrowed someone else's car because of the misinformation I was given, I received a half-hearted "sorry"--delivered with an attitude that made it clear they didn't care. When I said I still felt I was being misinformed, the employee replied, "I resent that insinuation, and I need to take care of another customer." Then he hung up on me. After driving 30 miles, being misinformed, having my time wasted, being left without my own vehicle, and receiving dismissive and unprofessional treatment, I can confidently say this has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had.

so five years down the road and another car with another problem: battery won't keep a charge over…read morenight and it's possibly the alternator (sounds fuzzy when the engine is running, kinda like diodes cooking on a warm autumn day) but more likely the three and a half year old battery; dude hooks up the multi-function tester which claims the battery is mostly good, the alternator is mostly bad and the starter is on its way out as well... so I get a starter and an alternator and off I go to do the easy part first and when I take the guards off I don't see a nut on the other end of the mounting bolt which could maybe lead to poor charging (and probably didn't do the alternator any good so yeah change it...) I hook up the battery charger for a couple hours but it doesn't start in the morning and I'm not real impressed with O'Reilly's analyzer so I return the starter and head off to the other other auto parts place to get a battery and it starts right up for two weeks now... bump them up a point for acknowledging an issue, will probably stop in again because of that simple act. :-)

He proceeded to get increasingly angry towards me as a result of me not purchasing his stated "alternatives." He then proceeded to tell me if I wasn't going to purchase anything to exit the store. I reiterated once more I simply needed a water pump, and he threatened to have me trespassed. If you're going to shop here, pick anybody but Chase.
