Had a warning light on my vehicle which indicated a headlight bulb going out. Went to competitor and they couldn't maneuver to the area of the bulb. Remembered and went to 0 Reilly auto parts in Downey ,a hidden gem , I was immediately helped by Ariel who went outside and had me turn on and off lights said the high beams out also so I purchased a new set, my car has low and high bulb. Fernando , the manager came to my car and replaced the bulbs purchased, he was so friendly and helpful,I am so grateful to him and didn't charge me to replace! Goodness me, they take forever to find parts that we've ordered in store. Over the years, we have ordered quite the variety. Usually the young pups find them much faster than the older guys. But it takes a while for the younger employees to step in and say, "You need help, [old timer]?" Not knocking generations at all. Mine, the millennial generation, is *in general* probably the worst about not looking people in the eyes and not expressing a genuine sense of compassion for others. With the earlier comments being said, they're never rude at this Downey location. Always helpful. They never seem put-out with having to call other nearby O'Reilly's to see if they have what we need. Usually (& unfortunately) it's Bell or one of the Bell Gardens stores that has shtuff in stock. Smaller store than most we've been to. If they don't have what you need, they will try their best to find the next store that does. read more

Called O'Reilly Auto Parts looking for a specific part. The other O'Reilly location checked their inventory and told me that the part was in Downey. I drove twenty five minutes from San Pedro to Downey to pick the part up at Downey O'Reilly location. Walked inside, store looked clean and organized, looking real nice. Store was empty, no customers except one, okay. One worker was talking on the phone in the back by the alternator testing machine. Another worker was sitting in the office with the door wide open. Two other workers were inside the store, one worker named Andrew was attending another customer at the front counter. While I was waiting in line, Andrew told the other worker to go to the back for some reason, voice sounded a bit muffled. Great, clock starts ticking... Four workers inside the store, only Andrew was helping another customer at the front counter. I waited for over ten minutes, Andrew did not acknowledge me in any way, he did not say anything to me. That's fine, I really really need the part, and Downey O'Reilly has it in stock, I'm okay with waiting.... after about ten minutes, Andrew finishes up with the customer he was assisting. Andrew, still not acknowledging me, turns around (walking away) and sends another worker to assist me. Socially awkward, a bit, eh? If Andrew is calling the shots at Downey O'Reilly, why wait over ten minutes to ask another worker to assist me? Andrew didn't have to assist me, he could have easily sent another worker to assist me, maybe the worker speaking on the phone, or the other worker that was sitting in the office... perhaps? In the practice of common decency, Andrew could have done a number of things that would show his commitment to O'Reilly customer service. At the very least, Andrew could have looked at me and said, "you are next." A simple acknowledgement would have been absolutely fine. No, that's not what Andrew did, he knowingly and willingly made me wait, while other workers were available sitting by idle, within eyesight, while a paying customer stood waiting for assistance in queque. I have a corporate account with O'Reilly Auto Parts, I also have active corporate accounts with Napa, Cummins Cal/Pacific, AutoZone, Pep Boys, and others to name a few. Competition is ruthless, overall costs of doing business are up, profits are down. Online retailers like Amazon, Rock Auto, and a dozen other vendors will drop ship any part within hours sometimes. No need to walk into any auto parts store and pay double or triple the price of Rock Auto. The only reason anyone would walk into an auto parts store like O'Reilly is based on excellent customer service. Rude customer service? Do not get surprised when customers start looking for other vendors. Years ago Toys-R-Us operated hundreds of their stores just like O'Reilly operates their stores today. Customer service was severely lacking, workers were rude and unapologetic in the performance of their work duties, workers were lackadaisical at best, customers were left waiting for no apparent reason, customers were often disregarded or mistreated by the workers. If O'Reilly Auto Parts does not care about their customers, then their customers will go elsewhere, and O'Reilly will not be able to keep their doors open, just like what happened to Toys-R-Us. I do not see O'Reilly staying in business if this is their business plan? What keeps repeat business? Excellent customer service. Thanks Andrew for showing O'Reilly's true colors. First time ever visiting this location, and it will be my last time ever. Terrible service (getting worse according to mechanics) by Manager Victor Ceballos (He took my order), I ordered an Alternator (witnessed by mechanic) and He sent an Starter instead, I drove the mechanic truck to pick up the right part and I forgot my face mask (I was fully vaccinated) and they didn't want to attend me unless I purchase a mask from them, I told them I could wait outside for the part but they refuse, and of course He said I made the mistake (no witness) read more

Greatest local auto Parts store in Downey. Manager Victor takes care of business. Everyone here is friendly and helpful. If you are a commercial account or shop you want to talk with Juan Murillo. He can uaually find what you are looking for pretty quick and will go out of his way to find stuff most other places won't. My only wish is that they were a depot. Place is super busy and there are times I have to wsit for parts to come from depot. What is funny is that each time I drive to their depot in the city of Bell, the place is empty. read more

Here at O'reillys and the parts guy At the counter lets me stand there for 9 minutes and does not acknowledge me. So another customer walks in and they tend to him first . So once they finish with the other customer they girl proceeds toward me and says can I help you . I answer yes I need to dump my oil . So now the counter guy on the phone still says , the oil bin is full . Really you have told me that 11 minutes ago. Regardless they dumped my and I went to another store to buy a complete tune up with an oil change . Smh read more

Brought my rotors to be resurfaced here, took one hour to turn one rotor and it was still done incorrectly! Both rotors had a rough second half cut! I took pictures and installed the rotors as is! Worst experience ever, these guys may have parts but sure as hell cannot resurface rotors correctly! I'm a certified ASE technician and I will NEVER come here again! read more
