They told me I had a gas leak by my rear tire and then showed me a video that looked nothing like my undercarriage. I know because I had mud all over my truck that day and the video they showed had a clean undercarriage of a compact car. He also said they couldn't fix it there, but his buddy had a garage down the street. That's a bit shady. Fast forward to last night. Since I wasn't impressed with their service I had my husband change my oil. The oil filter was cranked on so tight that it ended up breaking to come off and then drained more than half the new oil we put in it. It has cost us 3x the amount it would have cost us to change the oil. Needless to say, we are not returning.

I made an appointment for an 11am oil change about a week ago. Al was the associate taking the…read moreappointment. $24.88 for the pit crew was the price he quoted; I'd be supplying my own oil and filter. I arrived at 10:40 and they couldn't find my appointment. Al was not there, just part-time, coming in at 4pm. The price he quoted was not honored. The price is $30. They got the truck in at 11:15. It wasn't done until 12:15. Everyone was doing a slow-walk. The person working on my truck disappeared into the pit under the truck for 20 minutes, I imagined taking a nap. Obviously paid by the hour. I observed the process from outside of the lined-off area. I like to watch work being done on my truck. That annoyed them. They closed the doors so I couldn't see. The service advisor said that I made them nervous watching them work (or waste time). I never got the feeling that they are competent for anything more than an oil change that takes an hour. Hopefully everything got tightened up well but I'm nervously watching for oil leaks. I'll go somewhere else next time.

The manager admitted their team likely overtightened the oil filter, cracking the housing and said he would personally fix it. Then, after talking to his district manager, he blamed a non-existent recall and said it had to go to a shop. Our vehicle was towed to Pep Boys, where it sat for 2 weeks while Take 5's insurance company avoided us. We paid $1,120 out of pocket for a diagnostic, just to be told later that Take 5 wouldn't cover it, even though the diagnostic confirmed they caused the damage. The lack of communication, accountability, and care has been exhausting. I wouldn't trust this location with an oil change again, let alone anything involving your car's safety.

Been hesitant about having my oil changed at a place named Grease Monkey. It just sounds weird. But…read morethey had a coupon for $25 off a full-service oil change so I decided to give them a try this past weekend. They did a great job at changing my oil, filters, and multi-point inspection; they were more thorough than the dealership I've used in the past. I was however expecting it to be a little cheaper than it was; I paid about $140 with the coupon. I feel really confident in the mechanic that did my oil change; he was professional and let me know what he was doing or about to do the whole time I waited on my oil change. It took about 45 minutes which is pretty quick for an oil change and multipoint inspection.
