He ended up changing it out in about 15 minutes and was friendly and knowledgable the whole time. Super efficient, and the place was pretty busy. Wish I had gotten his name but I didn't see any of the empoyees wearing nametags and if I worked retail I wouldn't want randos knowing my name either haha. He ordered staff to continue to sell the batteries as is. The store that discovered that Keen was lying and misrepresenting his batteries discontinued their account. Their are many other accounts that have stopped using their batteries. Keen comes across as genuine but he misrepresents the true life of the battery's he sells. Other companies have noticed the drop in battery integrity.

I was greeted and the tech listened to my description of the problem (wouldn't charge). He said he could replace the charge port if needed and would test the aging battery. I came back in two hours -- the battery had been replaced and the charge port only needed a careful cleaning. The total bill was about the same as the proposed 'diagnostic test' at the other store! The service was good; there were several techs working the counter. Nobody tried to 'up-sell' me services I didn't need. Fixing phones seems like a difficult job, but they met my needs quickly and well.

I went the unconventional way and decided to try a different battery not sourced from Apple instead of having another battery issue again- and to think about it, the phone isn't even 3 years old yet. I also didn't want to waste my time and visit a busy Apple Store full of nerds and stuff. I dropped off my phone and picked it up 2hrs later. No issues. It was working as I had expected it to and the capacity went back to 100%. Of course there's the nag screen that the battery is non-OEM which I don't care about- just as long as it gives me enough charge to last more longer than it previously did. Only time will tell how this new battery will perform. Their work is also back with a 6 month guarantee in which anything happens to the phone due to battery issues, they will address it. Peace of mind. Since I wasn't able to leave my phone on the original Tuesday when I brought it in, I decided to come back Saturday so I wouldn't have to leave my phone at the store overnight.
