I went to Auto zone in Broadway and Camino Seco in late December to have them help change out a…read morebattery. They ended up shorting out the entire ECM of my Volkswagen Atlas. This cost $2k to fix. They tried for hours to figure out why the battery wouldn't allow the car to start up. When this was brought up to the store manager, he said that it was above him and it needed to be submitted to his regional director. This was done. They did not respond to my complaint for a month until I emailed again. Next communication month later, did not respond. It told my story over and over again when the claim was submitted, there was no compensation whatsoever for their mistake. No accountability. 4 months later and the claim was denied. I am at $2k for their mistake. I hope that people think twice rather than go to this location; it turns out the person in charge of changing my battery was not qualified in the first place and was only there temporary. I hope someone figures out a way to compensate me.

The manager looked in the system and they could not find the transaction on the sale of the battery 2 years ago. I presented them my credit card statement showing the sale of the battery 2 years ago. The manager said they can't accept that as proof. I contacted corporate and they said the same thing! It is interesting to note that this is NOT the 1st time this has happened to a customer! I called them and they said no problem, they could fix it. Limped the car over there. Guy said that the car would have to cool down to work on it. Cool down? The hose and outlet are at the front of the engine compartment. In the last four days, I've worked on it, even in short sleeves when the engine was hot. Not a big deal at all. "How long will that take?" "About a half an hour." (I needed to be at work in 35 minutes.) "So after that, then what?" "We will need to fill it up with coolant and that will take about 30 minutes." What?!!! 30 minutes to fill the system up with coolant. Does he think I'm ignorant or stupid or something? It would take a whole 5 minutes max to fill the car up with coolant. Nope, I'm just leaving this place. Looked at maps and an Autozone was close by on Craycroft. They lent me tools. Guy there suggests changing the very difficult hose clamp for an easy one. I get everything fixed and new coolant in the system in 20 minutes. Every employee there was friendly and helpful. It seems that bad reviews on this place happened a few years back with better reviews in the last year or two. Must be better management. All I know is my experience with them was stellar. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind.
