Have been here a few times now and it is a really solid sushi spot! I've been here with friends and family and we've never had a problem find parking nearby or being seated quickly. The staff have been attentive and friendly. So far the food we've tried here has been delicious, from the edamame, rolls, hand rolls, and stuffed jalapeños. I would definitely recommend the spicy edamame and stuff jalapeños as appetizers and honestly any roll you pick will be tasty. Will be back! read more

Let me start by saying this review is based off a DoorDash delivery. Food arrived quickly, I appreciate they included utensils, soy sauce, wasabi and ginger. The Winter of Sac was my favorite and a tad spicy. The Godzilla had lots of tuna on top and was a bit messy but still super tasty. I did not like the tuna tataki at all. The tuna was good, not chewy at all but it lacked flavor. I would not get that again, I should have stuck with bbq albacore. With that being said, I did I enjoyed most of the items but I would NOT ever order from them on DoorDash again because they inflated their prices a lot. I know restaurants raise their prices a bit to cover the fees DoorDash charges them but this was almost double per item. I would for sure eat in at their restaurant though. read more

We had some gift cards from here an decided to go. No reservations but none needed. The place wasn't very full. They have three different doors but they want you to enter from the corner doors. There is signs on all the other doors. We were greeted by the staff and they said to just sit anywhere we wanted to. They did have QR code for the menu but my phone had a hard time getting it. The place was as I remembered it. It was clean and a good size. They had the sake out where you could see the bottles . Pick the kind you want. I got the Chirashi sushi and it was good. The fish was fresh and I enjoyed it. My wife got the Unagi Don and she liked it too. We got a roll also but I forgot what it was. It was nice to. We had a good time and the food was good to. We got two pieces of hamachi nigiri, one piece of escolar, a J street roll, and a sunburnt roll. It was all pretty good! The fish on the nigiri was huge and worth it! I've been there a few times and the food was fine. But the service isn't great. The server looked unhappy and didn't seem very willing to serve us. No one checked on us the whole time we were eating. O-Toro has a great location in midtown. The restaurant is clean and spacious. We were a bit surprised at how few people were there on a Saturday night, but it worked out well for us since we were able to get seated right away. They have their menu on a QR code although we were offered physical menus which I appreciate. They have a good selection of cocktails, beer and wine in addition to sushi. We went with the hot sake but I'd be curious to try their cocktails sometime. We got a couple starters - gyoza and BBQ albacore. Both were tasty. For rolls we got the Godzilla and the One Punch. I would order the Godzilla again but maybe skip the One Punch. It was fine but not for me. My husband liked both rolls. I've been to O-Toro at least a half a dozen other times since my last update and something changed since the height of my stellar review 2 years ago. Like many other restaurants post pandemic, O-Toro has not kept up with their high quality and I have to adjust my stars appropriately to give them an average rating. I still appreciate the easy and relatively safe parking on the streets and surrounding area. I still like their late hours and it provides a place to eat for late night Sushi cravings. I still like their soft music in the background, clean restaurant, and friendliness. However, having eaten at many other Sushi restaurants, O-Toro seemed to have lost their freshness, amazing taste, and me wanting to go there - when I don't even live near the area. I don't feel as satisfied after eating there and often want dessert or something else to fulfill the complete meal. That shouldn't happen for the price they charge. read more

The nigiri was fresh, the Amaebi was sweet and delicious. The Ramen was good too. The shrimp tempura roll was average. The servers were very sweet and efficient. Strolled in on a Friday night. Plenty of seating available, people started to come in about 8pm. Nice place, clean and decor was good. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a few rolls, spicy edamame (crunch bits on it, so not a fave although the flavor was good) one roll was the sunburnt roll. It was good but nothing so memorable that I wanted to go back. Midtown Dining [Sacramento CA] My daughter introduced us to this sushi restaurant located in Midtown. We don't come to Sacramento enough so it was a nice change of venue for dining. We were seated immediately. The menu can be scanned on the QR code but it's very tiny on the phone. We ordered the following: Wakame Salad Broadway Roll Tempura Udon Bento Box - Teriyaki Salmon and Beef Teriyaki Food came quickly. The portions on my bento box were generous especially the salmon. The beef was tender and cut in perfect small bite size portions. The house salad was very good. The teriyaki sauce was spread evenly and both salmon and beef were tasty and flavorful. Daughter and husband also enjoyed their meals. The tempura that came with the udon was a large piece and came with mixed vegetable tempura pieces. The host was not even happy he was rude.. we ended up taking our tip and money elsewhere. Also the menu is out of date? We had to scan a barcode but still got an outdated menu.. Why? just let people know that they can scan the barcode to access menu.. Also, everything was way over priced for not so good service.. Parking in this area is a bit more inconvenient so give yourself some extra time to find parking if you're coming during prime dinner hours or in the evening as it's located near residential homes that utilize the street parking. Made a reservation through Yelp for 8pm on a Friday but we came in earlier than our reservation and it wasn't too crowded. So may not need to but couldn't hurt. The sushi here is quite a bit more expensive than other places and honestly didn't hit the spot like I was hoping. I can't pin point why(maybe the toppings took away from the fish as opposed to enhancing the fish) as they looked delicious and Presentation was beautiful. Ramen was delicious and felt like it was more memorable for me compared to the sushi. Calamari was also delicious and crispy. Light crispy tempura style batter. Zero stars. We had a reservation for our large party at 7. We were sat swiftly but no one came over to great us for over 15 minutes. An older lady came over & offered us water. When she dropped off the water, we kindly asked for straws. She returned & threw the straws on the table while making an irritated face. No one came by to check on us for another 20 minutes. There were several other tables that we sat after us & they were being helped. One of my friends went over to ask the host if we could get service. When we finally got a server, she only took our drinks & apps. She disappeared again for around another 10 minutes & when she returned, we finally ordered our mains. Our apps & drinks were coming out one by one with long gaps in between. One of the members of my party ordered an espresso martini which was filled with water. When all of our drinks & apps had arrived, we had already been there for 90 minutes. It became 9 o clock & only 2 of our main entrees had arrived. We decided to just leave & ask for the check since we had a show to get to at 9:30. We received a check for $800 which included all the items that we didn't receive. Plus, she had put it all on one bill despite us asking for the bill to be split. I asked the items that we received to be taken off the bill & was told that our food is ready so we can just eat it. I explained that we had no time to eat & that food wasn't allowed at the show so please take it off. To top it off, we were charged an $80 auto gratuity despite the horrible service we received. We didn't receive an apology or any explanation for why we were treated that way. By far, the worst restaurant experience we have ever received. Please save yourself the trouble & go anywhere else. Don't come here if you're a large party, with auto-gratuity factored in they dont feel the need to provide quality service since they already know theyre getting a tip. Went here over the weekend with a party of 8, had a reservation and were sat but after 20+ minutes no server helped us so we had to flag one down. I was told there was another large party and we just had to wait. Put in drinks and apps, and again, drinks took 20+ minutes and we had to get up and ask again. Finally got drinks and were able to put our order in nearly 45 minutes after being sat. Service was spotty and it was hard to get anyone's attention to order more drinks while we waited for our food. After an hour only 2 entrees and 2 apps came out. Once again, had to find our server and check in and they said 5 minutes. 15 minutes later food slowly started coming out but at this point we had been there for 2 hours. We ended up having to cancel 5 rolls since we were waiting for 2+ hours at that point and had a show to get to. Worst part? The check included 18% auto-gratuity, so they made nearly $80 for absolutely terrible service. We saw multiple tables come in after us, get served, and leave while the servers did less than the bare minimum for us. read more

This place is great. Went to Bob's show on Sept. 18th and we wanted some sushi after. Not many late night sushi places open after 10pm, but this was. We were greeted warmly, served right away, and had some of the best food. I ordered the ginger lemon tea, the honey roll, and the katsudon. I wasn't even thinking about taking pictures last night, but I had the katsudon left over and included that picture. The serving was NICE! Had it for lunch today. I loved the atmosphere of the place. It's not too big, but it's sizable enough that you aren't sitting on top of the next table. It's cosy and the bar is right next to it, through a door. I ended up having a Long Island iced tea, as well, which was just perfect. I definitely plan to come back in the future! read more

They didn't even want to check on us it almost felt like they were avoiding people who got happy hour specials cause they already knew about complaints, idk I'm just giving my ASSUMPTIONS, but yeah no thanks. They've upped their game food wise. Our 11 year old really enjoyed his katsu and sashimi(!), while we found the rolls ample and inventive. I had high hopes for this place with all the nice food reviews and been wanting to try the Omakase style, and found out that's only for advance requests only for the other days and not for Saturdays, so sadly not possible this time. I ordered raw oysters and uni - not available today as well. At this point, I'm not sure what else to order, so I just asked our server ( the bartender) to bring us 2 popular tuna rolls that they do have. I'm so glad they have the Nigiri Otoro and was okay, I've had better. Other dish like chicken karaage and soft shell crab was okay. Lastly, trying taiyaki ice cream here and it's kinda stale, had better ones at sumi sumi. I hardly give reviews such as this, and just solely based on my experience for that day of this place. I had bought a Groupon to this place. I know when a restaurant offers Groupon's they are either new or struggling. If this place is struggling I can definitely see why. I had mentioned to our waitress that we had a Groupon. She then immediately pointed to the happy hour menu and said we cant order from that menu. I said ok, I looked at the menu and had told the waitress that we were going to order our meal but in separate checks. She said "no you cant do that if you are paying with a groupon the whole table has to be on the same check." We wanted to pay Cash and order from the happy hour menu considered that lots of the sushi rolls were only 8 bucks on the happy hour menu and 18-20 on the regular menu. It was a no brainer. Since they said we cant do that we just ordered the bento, 1 roll and a lemonade. It was embarrassing sharing that meal with my wife and daughter. Normally when we do sushi we go hard and order like 7 rolls. I was not gonna pay cash for items on the regular menu since they wouldnt let us have different checks to split the groupon. Service was MEGA TRASH!! My wife had to get up and ask for more napkins the waitress never came back to offer us refills or even ask how we were doing only towards the very end. There was another waitress from another table that actually asked us how we were doing and took our plates away when we were done. She even brought us the check. We got horrible service and I'd be damned if I was going to tip. After the 50 dollar groupon was subtracted our total was like 6.50 and i only paid 7 bucks and the waitress ran to the check book to see if we actually paid lol she opened up the check book and saw theres was a big 50 cent tip hahah. wtf did they expect? Their SERVICE WAS GARBAGE!! If we could have split the check we would have spent more money and would have tipped nice. I never skimp on tips.
