    Breakfast Burrito
    Kaitlin P.

This place is a gem! I had the breakfast burrito, which was filling and packed with flavor. The chips were also delicious on the side. I ordered the mango and strawberry margarita and it was hands down THE best margarita I've ever had in my life. Why? It was made with real fruit juice and had the right ratio of alcohol to juice. The service was great-- the staff did a phenomenal job getting my order out quickly (less than 10 mins on a crowded day). Inside the restaurant is a vibe as well. Perfect for a group of friends for brunch, especially on a nice day sitting in their outside seating.

Tinga Torta, and you can see the huge salsa bowl in the back

One really helpful thing to me is that the food looked just like the pictures on the website, so check the menu knowing that it's accurate to what you'll get! We got their Thursday torta special which comes with chips and salsa and a drink for $14. The salsa was a huge bowl of pico, like much more than one person would expect, and it was super fresh tasting! The tortas were also a good size and really delicious. I loved the avocado cream! The service was super friendly and accommodating as well. It's a pretty out of the way for us, but I would absolutely go again.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. A really cool interior. The carnitas taco was very good with the grilled onions, the tomatillo sauce though was thin and watery. The best part of the meal was the tasty black beans and rice.

Frankly, this place is a little far from our home but we had a discount offer and drove out to check them out. We're glad we did because the food was delicious and the service was very friendly. They are part of the same ownership as Town Hall Grill and People's Coffee, which we are more familiar with. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and ordered chips and salsa, carne asada tacos, and quesadilla O'ya. You order at the counter and they will bring your order to you at your indoor or outdoor table. We chose to sit outdoors even though it was a little hot in the full sun. If this place were closer to our house, we'd come more often.

Top: Peruvian Chicken, black beans, rice Bottom: enchiladas and the Mexican rice

Their shrimp tacos was my favorite item that I tried. The carne asada taco was solid and the meat was very tender. The shrimp was that good! I did add queso on my carne as ado tack for a bit more flavor & juiciness & that was great. My second favorite item was the Peruvian chicken. The taste, seasoning, and texture was on point. The Mexican rice and black beans paired the best with it. Not a fan of the green rice but it does taste better with sauce! I wasn't a fan of the enchiladas. It wasn't bad, but definitely wasn't my favorite. I enjoyed the chips and queso over that! I love the drink options they have. I went with a bottle sprite. For the aesthetic, of course! Ranking Order: Shrimp tacos, Peruvian Chicken, Carne Asada tacos, chips & queso, lastly enchiladas!

    Receipt with atrocious add ons

Another restaurant taking advantage of their patrons. So disappointing. They charged us $5 to order pickup plus $.50 for placing an online order plus $15 for a tip! They charged us OVER $20 just for placing an order. No food included. And since when do we get charged a 20% tip on takeout?! And on top of a $5 charge for placing a pick up order? That is STEALING money. They also gave us 1/2 the amount of chips as usual and cut down the food size big time. We were regulars but now will find another place to spend our money. Not a good idea to over charge people when a zillion restaurants are already coming to this area.

Finally made it here - always eat next door at Town Hall Burger but decided to mix it up. Food was really good. We had crab empanadas, fish tacos, carnitas pupusas and cheese dip. Everything was great, fresh and hot - was brought out quickly. Lots of crab in empanadas, lots of pork in pupusas. Very flavorful and prices good for what you get. Can sit outside or inside and folks can go to either place if you need variety. The only nit picky thing - they did not give you ice for drinks - the water and tea dispensers are serve yourself, but were not cold. Rather than have to ask for ice, would be nice to just give you ice when you order or put an ice dispenser out.

Fast casual vibes with order at the counter and indoor or outdoor seating. Small selection of beer and hard seltzer. I loved their Al pastor taco but felt the shrimp taco lacked flavor. The carne Asada was quite meaty and definitely felt full after a few bites! The beef empanada was a surprise star with the tomato sauce that comes with the empanada being my favorite. The guac is nice and creamy as a side ans if your order chips get ready for a whole big bag of chips! Overall I thought the portions were smaller than expected for the tacos but seeing quite a few other diners other specials or bowls it seems that's what I'll try next!!

They were fresh became with wonton chips on the side that were crunchy and after being outside all morning and into the afternoon, it was just what we needed. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well-priced, whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout. It also feels like we aren't eating super unhealthy when we pick Alpaca. The chicken is always tender and juicy, and the portions are generous for the price. What really completes the meal, though, are the sauces. Make sure to get both the yellow sauce and the green (spicy) sauce. They take everything to another level. I got a half-chicken meal, dark meat only, with beans and French fries, as well as a chicha morada beverage. Their sauces are off to the side and self-serve, which I love. The roast chicken was delicious, so well-seasoned and tender. Honestly I did not need the sauce to eat it. The beans were smoky and I appreciate the fact that it was portioned separately to prevent the fries from getting soggy. The fries were not that fresh, and they had the skins on. I would not get these next time. The sauces were good but not mind-blowing. The green sauce in particular was sharp and salty but not flavorful. The orange sauce tasted mostly like mayo. However, again, since all the food was well-seasoned, I didn't really need the sauces. Alpaca is a great, quick, and healthy option for tasty Peruvian food. I would definitely come back for my quick fix, but I would probably skip the sauces.

AUTHENTIC! Quick service and nicely decorated…read more Having spent 12 years of my life in Peru, I feel confident with my assessment of Mi Peru. I was in town for business and as in every location I travel to, I look for Peruvian food. This is in my top three. One was in Austin, TX, one in St Louis, MO and now this one in Durham, NC. I had the lunch special. It included a drink, soup and entree. Of course you have to drink Inca Cola (tastes like Squirt with Cream Soda) nice and cold. I'll have to get a Chicha Morada to take with me (which I did, and it was fruity and sweet, like a non-alcoholic sangria with cinnamon). The soup was a chicken and lentil soup with various veggies. As soon as I tasted it, I knew I was in for a treat and prayed the Aji de Gallina would be just as good. It was! Aji de Gallina is a shredded chicken dish made with Peruvian Aji amarillos, nuts, Parmesan cheese. Add in all the delicious spices Peru is known for and you have a wonderful, homey, delicious dish. I will be coming back tonight for dinner. Can't decide if I want the Seco de Res or the Lomo Saltado. Both staple dishes in Peru. Part 2 - so...I was too tired to go back for dinner. BUT, I did order in. I got the Papa à la Huancaina (so delicious, it tasted like I make at home). It is a creamy, Aji Amarillo cheese sauce over yellow potatoes. I would have liked it a little spicier, but I understand having to cater to the general public, so I'll let that slide. But the flavor was as good as you could get. I also opted to order the Seco since I thought it would travel better than the Lomo Saltado. The rice was perfect. Not soggy or spongy. Just right. Flavored with a little salt and garlic. You could eat it by itself. The Seco meat was tender. I didn't even use a knife to cut it. In fact, it pulled apart easily with a plastic fork. I would have liked a little more of the cilantro sauce to soak up in my rice. The flavors were right on, but I love cilantro...so. It even came with a Salsa Criolla (lightly pickled red onion), which is authentic and served with many Peruvian dishes. I ordered additional salsa amarillo just to taste. It's a sauce made with aji amarillo and black mint. I know it sounds weird but it's actually so tasty and fresh. My only disappointment were the beans not that they weren't good and flavorful, but they were pinto beans. I was really expecting mayacoba beans (similar to a white canary bean). Sorry, I ate it before thinking about taking pictures. All in all, I would rate this highly for those wanting to try authentic Peruvian food. My next visit to Durham I'll be trying the Ceviche and Lomo Saltado.

My daughter had the macaroni and cheese (there's a kids menu on the right hand side of the menu which is a bit hard to see/read with white font letters on yellow). They also have chicken tenders. All of the kids menu items come with your choice of one side. We picked fries and the portion was very generous. They were on the soggier side but I like soggy fries so that was a plus for me. I ordered the lomo saltado for takeout with an Inca cola and my husband said it was good. The woman at the front was very personable and friendly and the restaurant was decorated with Christmas decorations including a cute white Christmas tree. They've got red Peruvian tablecloths on every table (the ones at the booths have a glass on top for easy cleaning). We actually started off at a 2 person table but moved because the tablecloth and chair moved around a lot (toddler problems). To quote the terminator, "I'll be back."

It is built on quinoa and rice with black beans and kale, then layered with corn salsa, tomato cortido, guacamole, and a creamy acevichado style sauce that pulls everything together. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with two sides, kale and slaw, and it was just as impressive. Crispy skin, juicy inside, and really clean flavors. Simple food done right and GF friendly. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Prices land right where you would expect for the quality, roughly 16 to 21 dollars depending on what you order, and it feels worth it. My bowl plus side of dark chicken was plenty. A few notes. Parking is what you would expect for downtown, so plan accordingly. Service was solid and friendly, but nothing that stood out. The vibe inside is festive and relaxed, bright and open, and just a fun place to hang out for lunch. Porbably not a special occasion. I also suspect it could get loud when full. That grain bowl is going to be hard to pass up next time, so instead of replacing it I will probably just add a side or an empanada and start working my way through the rest of the menu.

The server was very nice and mindful of waters and when we needed things. I will say almost $20 for a regular dish seemed very expensive but the food was pretty good so I would probably come back - just for the cheaper empanadas as they were pretty filling as it was. The one thing that kind of threw me off was how they set the table with their water cups upside down, touching the table.
