Recieved a young sapodilla tree from here in a 15g pot for $90 (paid via Zelle?) and later…read morediscovered the soil was FULL OF TRASH There were tons of pieces of styrofoam/polystyrene (not perlite, which there was also) and shredded plastic of various sizes and type. When planting into the ground, to our dismay, there was rubbish all throughout the pot... so we had to wash off all the contaminated soil and plant it bareroot. Absolutely disgusting they grow their plants with toxic plastic mixed in! They probably get free compost from the city dumps or God knows. The soil was also full of artificial fertilizer pellets which likely contain plastic polymers. I contacted them and they offered a replacement - but, whats the point of that if their other plants are grown the same way. It was too much for me to drive back and deal with that, and I'd set a time to get this job done. Was a little in touch by text with them, they didn't offer any form of refund or discount for the crappy soil condition they sold it in or the trouble to remove it, just the message: "Good luck with the bare root." Also, the tree's root system was actually quite small, a 3-5 gallon pot would have been more than adequate vs a half-filled 15 gallon pot. All in all, way overpriced for this poor quality and hassle. 2 stars instead of 1 simply because it's difficult to find some of these tropical fruit trees and the Vietnamese ladies here were friendly in person. ‍ Hopefully the tree survives the transplant shock, if it doesn't, we will fight for a full refund.

David was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We came in looking for Star Jasmine and David showed us exactly what to purchase, and how to plant and care for them. We will be back as we continue our garden project.

I would strongly caution anyone considering Lakewood Nursery…read more About a year ago, I purchased a large podocarpus tree from them for several hundred dollars and paid an additional couple hundred dollars for installation in the planter in front of my house. Not long after planting, the tree didn't seem to be developing properly, so I stopped by looking for advice. The experience was disappointing. The employee helping me appeared visibly intoxicated in the middle of the day (someone I believe is connected to ownership, as I had met him during the purchase). He was unhelpful and dismissive, so I left without any real guidance. I continued trying to care for the tree, but within two months it died. When I returned to ask whether there was any warranty, replacement option, or even assistance toward purchasing a new tree, I was met by a rude employee who immediately became defensive, repeatedly emphasizing that they are a "family-owned business" while offering zero accountability or solutions. Instead, I was blamed for the tree dying, despite the fact that I had already come in previously asking for help. For a business that sells and installs expensive trees, I expected at least some level of customer service, support, or professionalism. Instead, I got poor advice, no accountability, and an overall hostile experience. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and would recommend others do the same. Update: After digging up the dead tree, it was obvious why it failed. The root ball was extremely tight and root-bound, likely from sitting too long in the nursery box. It only had two mature roots supporting it, and both had been cut during removal and installation. They also didn't use fresh soil when planting it, which gave it little chance to establish. I went to another family-owned nursery afterward, and the difference was clear--they stood behind their product and offered a one-year warranty.

I think the name of this shop is very clever, but that said, the plant selection isn't that…read morecomprehensive, maybe only about a third of the total space. Inventory appears healthy, though as other reviews mentioned, prices are slightly higher than similar plant stores and nurseries. When I came on a Sunday afternoon, there was a workshop happening (the other two-thirds of the space), so classes are probably where the Green Place focuses most of their efforts I would guess. The associate up front wasn't friendly or unfriendly, but I also didn't feel compelled to leave with a new houseplant. Maybe if the occasion arises, it would be a fun spot to do a group activity - but personally, that isn't today for me.

I got into getting house plants lately and was super excited to see this place so near my home…read more They had a bunch of selections from what I saw with plants of all sizes and types. The plants I got were some Pothos, Dracaena, and Monstera. I loved that they explained to me how to take care of the plants. The team there also helped me select the plants that would be best for the amount of light that comes into my place. The average cost for the plants I bought were around $12-15 and I'd say they're about small-medium sized plants. As a bonus, they also partnered with another small business that offers pottery painting towards the back of the store. You could probably purchase a plant and then paint something to put the plant in. How cool!
