    brisket and fries

We ordered double brisket, double fries with salt only ($26) and another mac & cheese with fries ($15). We can't take spicy seasoning on the fries, so I requested salt only and double-checked with the cashier before paying. It's a simple request that every restaurant accommodates, and Your Cashier Confirmed!!! The senior lady shouldn't yell at customers because your team accidentally added spicy seasoning and had to redo the fries. It's not the customer's fault if you have an internal miscommunication. We paid for food, not to be accused and hear your complaints. And how were we supposed to know you don't have salt since you're running a restaurant? After a 40-minute waiting under the sun, a "thank you for waiting" would have been appreciated. Instead, the senior lady made us listen to her endless lecture and complaints about us being difficult and disrespectful to the menu before handing over the food. I am your customer, not your employee. It's wrong to bully your customers by yelling at them in public! Besides that, as many other reviewers mentioned, the brisket had a chemical scent that resembled gasoline and grew stronger over time. The mac and cheese was very dry. We basically threw everything away since no one wanted to touch it again. Among all the brisket and mac & cheese we've tried in different places, this was really not a good one. The only star is to the cashier, who was at least warm and nice at the beginning.

Oak and Anchor BBQ has now established a permanent spot inside the Chula Vista Brewery at The District in Eastlake after having a mobile presence on Third Avenue for quite a while. It's a long drive for me to get here, but I wanted to taste their barbecue offerings. The inside of the brewery was very spacious with picnic tables for seating. The back counter was where you placed an order for food. Eight different meat options were available including brisket that was only sold on weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Loaded fries and a loaded baked potato were choices as sides along with eight standard items like cole slaw, mac & cheese, collard greens, etc. Entrées were sold as a meat (1, 2, or 3) + a side (1 or 2). I stacked on the meats by picking the brisket, pork belly, and tri-tip with a side of Texas baked beans. The pork belly was the winner by far. There were four long strips that were glazed with honey. The cut was so moist and fatty. The brisket and tri-tip were placed together with the beans in a separate take-out container. I am glad they threw in a couple of cups of sweet barbecue sauce to use as a dip for the two meats. The quality of the food was solid, and the pleasantness of the cashier was even better. I was very satisfied with making a trip to visit this BBQ joint in Chula Vista.

Black and Veteran owned TEXAS style BBQ! The homey Chris and Mrs. Sweat get down on the Smoke Pit! From Brisket, Chicken Wings, Chicken Legs, Chicken Breasteses, chicken Heads, sausages, Turkey Legs, Ribs... what ever he can smoke it! Be sure to get the Hogzilla! It's a giant baked potato with everything!!! And I mean everything! It's delicious and nutritious (if consumed in portions)! I used to go to Coop's in Lemon grove, but when my friend opened up his business, I knew I couldn't go back to Lemon Grove. If you're still in the Navy and plan to do any type of gathering that requires food, I.e. CPO season stuff, re-enlistments, retirement, commissioning, or promotion ceremonies hit up Chief Sweat and Oak and Anchor BBQ. Tell him your favorite Elite Yelper (Me) sent you.

Phenomenal BBQ!! I came across them when I was working in Encinitas. They were part of a Farmer's Market. They are legit!! Family owned and what a wonderful and amazing family! Hard working, friendly, and they make awesome BBQ! The meats are juicy, tender and full of flavor. Bought some extra to take home to the wife and she said it was soooo good! The meat had a great smokey flavor without being over powerful. Next time, I'll try their ribs and chicken. Can't break away from their tri-tip, brisket and hot link, though. I was told by a wonderful lady, my name will never be forgotten as I have the same name as her husband!....lol. Thank you for that awesome BBQ!! See ya soon....

Unique smokiness emanating from this place attracted me to take a second look. So glad I got to try Texas BBQ here!

I've had a LOT of bbq in my life but DAMMIT MAN! These guys know what they're doing. I'm born and raised in the south (Louisiana/Georgia) so I've had authentic Texas, Kansas City and bbq from the Carolinas. The big dawgs. I literally got into my car to go home, took a bite of the tri tip, turned the car off and shook the bbq boss' hand (for some reason I was rude and didn't ask his name). Also bought a second plate to take to my mama. Lol. I will absolutely put my stamp on this business and recommend them to everyone I know. They seem sincerely appreciative of all their customers and it makes a difference. Go see them near 32nd st base and Una behind the bar. The pic is the 2 meat, 2 side meal but one side was potato salad (cold) so it came in a different small container. Go get some Q today. Also, if the owners read this, yes, me and mama coming Sunday for dinner!

Tri tip, chicken, pulled pork, ribs.

Oak and Anchor Bbq came to my rescue. I had plans to prepare a meal for my family Christmas Eve. Earlier in the week I found out that my husband and I tested positive for Covid and had to cancel our plans. I texted Chris and asked if they could deliver a meal fir us as we could not leave our house. With just two days notice, they delivered the most delicious meal. My husband and son said that it was the best barbecue they ever had and they are very picky. Thank you so much for saving our Christmas!

I tried this place today after hearing great reviews. As honest as I can be, I was truly disappointed. I ordered 2 spuds and 2 orders of ribs. Ribs were ok potato did not look anything like the pic. My mind went back to the 80's-where's the beef? Sorry wish it was better. cashier was great!

I gave JP (owner) an incredible amount of grace throughout the process and yet, he still managed to screw us. It was not a single issue, but a failure on multiple levels. THE SHORT VERSION: 1) he was very unprofessional overall in his communication. 2) he backed out of bar service a few days before our wedding and ghosted us after the wedding without a refund, 3) without exaggeration, some of the food at the wedding was inedible THE LONGER VERSION: The tasting went amazing. Ashley (who no longer works there) was extremely communicative. They asked for 50% as a deposit (which is pretty high) but the food was really good so we accepted. However, the tasting was the only good thing about our experience... 1. He was unreachable for months leading up to our wedding. The company phone number was either not taking calls, or went straight to voicemail. No response to emails. He finally got back to me about one month before our wedding (we thought we got scammed at that point). I gave him the benefit of the doubt despite all of this 2. He backed out of providing bar services a week before the wedding. I knew something was off when he wouldn't provide us with an shopping lists for our cocktails, despite following up. A few days before our wedding, our coordinator told us that his bartenders did not have proper certification and without one, could not serve alcohol (note: this was merely an RBS certification... EVERY OTHER bar service that we spoke with met this requirement). I specifically asked at contract signing if they were certified. Also, JP did not inform us that he was dropping out. I had to text him myself for confirmation, as I was unsure if he was going to hire other bartenders, if they would obtain the certificate, or if he was dropping out. Only then did he tell me he would not provide bar service. Again, this was 7 days before the wedding. He also took 3 more days to clarify exactly what service he would no longer be providing, when we obviously needed to know asap as we were scrambling to secure another bar service Even though this certification is the minimum requirement for many venues, he tried to pass the blame onto the venue, stating that he never encountered this requirement before (how is this possible? As a wedding caterer, he should have been familiar with these requirement, whether or not he met them). Huge red flag. Despite this, I didn't make this an issue 3. He promised to refund us for the bar service but ghosted us after the wedding. I disputed the charge and he finally responded, threatening to sue. 4. He was unreachable on the morning of the wedding. Again, poor communication.. 5. The food failed to meet even our lowest standards. The 50% deposit really had our hands tied and we couldn't back out despite the red flags. As long as he showed up and served food that was remotely close to our tasting, we'd be happy. However, he totally skimped out on the quality and quantity. For example, our passed appetizers were smoked salmon bagels. I'm not sure if he used old bagels or what, but the bagels were stale and rock hard. My friend tried to bite down on one and immediately spit it out. My aunt had to warn guests not to eat them. He swapped out some of the items that we paid for with inferior options (ie: we paid for a fig and honey roll... he just added a basic dinner roll). Guests told us they were confused that our menu did not match the food. Some guests got half a dinner roll (meaning they didn't have enough) The main entrées did not match the quality or size of the original dish we were promised at the tasting. I understand that preparing a meal for 2 people is not the same as 100 people, and there is inherently a drop in quality on the wedding day. However, this was completely different. Many guests attested that the salmon entree was inedible as it was incredibly dry and overcooked. Look at the photo of the tri-tip I uploaded and the difference between what we were promised and what we received We asked for leftovers to be packed but never received them. All in all, I was super understanding and even allocated 15% as tip for his team despite his poor communication. Despite this, the fact that he never gave us a refund for the bar service is appalling.

I must have gotten at least 15 or more guests absolutely raving about the food. One guest even said it beat any home cooked or restaurant food she had ever eaten! And that is not an exaggeration! From the very beginning, Sierra made sure all of my clients requests were met and the communication was the outstanding. Billy (chef) doubled up on outstanding with the most amazing, flavorful, unique and tasty appetizer and dinner menu. You can definitely taste the love and effort he puts into his cooking. And last but not least....the staff! Absolutely the best! And served with a smile! In my opinion this is an unbeatable team. Quality imagination presentation --…read more Four Seasons Food Catering is owned by the marvelous duo Billy Burd and Sierra Ridenour-Burd. They make an amazing team. They catered a party for us at the The Thursday Club in Point Loma in March and dazzled everyone. When we were trying to choose a caterer we were attracted to Four Seasons by the imaginative and creative flair of Chef Billy Burd's cuisine and by their very positive reviews. One thing that caught our attention about the reviews was that many of them were fairly long. Apparently reviewers were not satisfied to give 5 stars and a paragraph of praise, they really wanted to testify. They felt that Four Seasons was special and they were motivated to let you know just how special. After experiencing Four Seasons catering service we can understand that sentiment. The culinary experience Four Seasons provided was marvelous. The dishes were imaginative, taste tempting, and a delight to the eye. Guests loved the appetizers that were passed: shrimp wrapped in basil and pancetta, mushrooms with escargot, parmesan crusted artichoke hearts. The stationary display had a choice assortment of cheeses and a selection of cold seafood that included jumbo shrimp, smoked salmon, ahi poke, and a sashimi platter all beautifully presented. Suffice it to say the buffet was equally spectacular. Chef Billy takes pride in the quality of the products he sources. The filet mignon for example was gorgeous. The shrimp served in the seafood display were so tasty that they made you stop and take notice. This was a once in a lifetime kind of party for us so we pulled out the stops when we were choosing items for the menu. It's very much to Billy and Sierra's credit that part of their response was to say that and they would be happy to offer some more budget friendly variations. We appreciated their inclination to work with clients to find good solutions to their needs. We enjoyed meeting with Chef Billy one time early in the planning process, but other than that, all the planning and coordination was handled by Sierra. She is fantastic and a pleasure to work with. She gave us recommendations on the initial approach to the menu, on down to details like the serving schedule, linens, and the table floor plan. We communicated mostly through email which was very productive because her emails, besides being congenial, were always clear and complete. And it was amazing how quickly she would reply, usually the same day. When it came to the final week before the party and it was time to summarize all the various emails and discussions Sierra nailed it, she recapped everything perfectly. The Four Seasons staff were wonderful. During the set up time they operated like clockwork. During the party they could not have been more charming and gracious. This is another major point to Billy and Sierra's credit. It takes care and effort to assemble a team of this quality--a group of individuals who interface harmoniously not only with the guests, but with each other, and with other vendors such as the florist. The whole event flowed thanks to the staff. When you are planning a special event you hope to create a joyful and memorable experience for all your guests. Four Seasons is a caterer with an amazing combination of culinary artistry and service craft. Choose Four Seasons as your caterer and you can't go wrong.
