She also does my daughter's hair who is quite the opposite and loves her hair as dark as possible. She's even done all her homecoming and prom hair. So talented and impressive!! I had a really disappointing experience at Oak and Cove with the stylist Birdie. I came in for a simple blonde refresh and haircut. My hair was already blonde, so this was not a major transformation--just a tone/brighten and trim. However, I ended up sitting in the chair for 5.5 hours, which is far beyond what I've ever experienced for this type of service. Because it took so long, I had to leave before my hair was fully styled. While she quickly dried my bangs, I immediately noticed patchiness. When I asked about it, she told me it was leftover toner and would wash out. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. When I got home and fully dried my hair, there were visible patches and harsh lines throughout. It was bad enough that I couldn't wear my hair straight. I reached out and came back to have it corrected, but that experience was just as frustrating. She initially dismissed my concerns and said she didn't see what I was referring to. When I showed her examples, she became visibly irritated and did not communicate with me during the appointment. The fix (a wet balayage) took another 3.5 hours. Although it looked slightly better leaving the salon, once I washed my hair again, I noticed orange/red tones near my money piece and continued patchiness. In total, I spent about 9.5 hours in the chair and nearly $400 for a result that still needs correction by another stylist. While the business did issue a refund, it doesn't make up for the time lost or the additional cost I'll now have to pay to fix my hair. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst salon experiences I've had. The color result, communication, and overall execution was worse then a student in hair school, and even the haircut itself was not done well. I'm really particular about my hair and haven't found a stylist I want to stay with here in Sacramento after living here for almost 4 years. I've been to Oak and Cove twice. I visited Kiana in February and she gave me an effortless brunette balayage. I visited Sarah last month and had such a bad experience that I won't recommend or return. I've read other comments about the unfriendliness about some staff. I understand that not every day is going to be an "on" day at work, especially in customer service. But basic communication is a bare-minimum requirement for anyone who styles hair. I asked Sarah for a refresh of my brunette balayage and she didn't ask questions or for inspiration photos. She applied lightener for 20 minutes and then left me to process for nearly an hour, without ever coming back to check on me. 50 minutes later her assistant came to check the foils. I mentioned that I had been processing for almost an hour and hadn't seen Sarah, and she coldly replied, "well if they're not done, they're not done." I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just bored and expected some attention or communication from my stylist. The rest of my session was truly uncomfortable. I don't think I imagined it - but Sarah and her assistant did not make eye contact or speak to me at all after that. It was bizarre. They applied toner without asking what shade I was looking to achieve, and when I asked what shade they had chosen, they curtly spat out formula numbers before I had to clarify two more times that I needed them to describe the shade. To no surprise, I wasn't happy with the end result: an all-over blonde baby-light, which objectively looked pretty but wasn't what I asked for. I contacted the salon immediately to explain the situation and schedule a color correction, but after I asked to see another stylist they stopped responding to my messages. I ended up going to another salon and paying $140 to have it fixed. Oak & Cove is a good salon with talented stylists. However one of the most important aspects of receiving a luxury service is walking away feeling relaxed, comfortable, and heard. And if that decency is given to some, but not everyone, it's not worth the risk of showing up. I hope others have a better experience than I did. read more

I got my hair done with Sarah this past week and my experience was just "okay". She was over 30 minutes late to the appointment and when I sat down in her chair she just gives me a smug look and says "uh so what are we doing" You would think if they had you send in pictures of your current hair and inspo pics before your appointment she would at least be prepared and know what the client wanted. My hair came out fine and luckily it's almost close to the pictures I sent it. Otherwise I would leave one star. Her customer service was terrible. I was there for four hours and she barely talked to me which is not that big of a deal but literally the whole appointment she was just silent lol it seems like she didn't want to do my hair at all. She didn't even offer me water. Literally everyone else getting their hair done got sparkling water and even fancy cocktails but nope not me lol. She said she was out of it because her sister and mom were coming to visit which I understand but I'm paying a lot of money to get my hair done. when she was washing my hair she forgot a step and I had to wash it again. She just didn't seem to care at all to do my hair and wanted me in and out. She barely even styled it after. I really wanted someone who was going to take the time and effort to give me the type of hair cut I wanted. I think there are pretty talented artists at Oak + Cove based off of what they post on Instagram and other stylists seemed to be more friendly towards their clients but I will not be coming back because of how bad my experience was with Sarah. read more

I love Oak and Cove Salon! I have basically followed my hairstylist to a couple different salons and now she has her own place which is super exciting and a testament to how awesome she is! This space is absolutely gorgeous! It's light and airy and the decorations are modern and beautiful! I love that they have a monthly drink you can get while you are having your hair service, it's such a nice touch! Everyone at the salon was really nice too! Another reason I like this salon is that I usually have a super easy time finding street parking, it makes it so convenient! Hannah is a color genius!
