Out to dinner with friends last night. Reservations for 8pm. Hung out at the bar until seated around 8:30. Restaurant was busy. Service both at the bar and table was friendly. Trendy atmosphere and very clean! Cheese platter, French onion soup, braised lamb, scallop special, all delicious. Expected "Great" from the beef bourguignon but it was just "good". Excellent food,fresh farm and sustainable. Delicious combinations, the crab dishes were excellent and highly recommended especially the crab cake with corn relish. The burger's were great as well as the octopus salad. the deserts looked amazing but was to full to sample, oh well next time! And there will be a next time. The last time I visited was my second time and we got there relatively late to be honest. It was within an hour of closing and usually I would expect subpar service but that's the opposite of what we received. The food is phenomenal and their pairings are exceptional. Least annoying dining experience I had in a long time. Sounds like a left-handed compliment, however, I mean it as the highest compliment. So many places I eat at are mediocre to poor. Food was great - corn bread with blueberry butter, cheeseboard, tempura fried broccoli, bolognese..... only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is because after one hour the server told us she needed the table for the next reservation even tho she swore we needed to save room for dessert which we would have gotten if we had the time... one hour turns isn't enough when you're getting multiple apps and drinking. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. My husband is recovering from a very successful kidney transplant and it's our anniversary. Very pleased that they offered delivery because my husband can't be around to many people. The food was outstanding. The fried chicken dish brought me back into my Gma's kitchen! OMG! Prepared with the southern flair so very good. The O&R burger made to perfection. The corn bread so beautifully flavored and moist. We will be giving you are business again. I want to start off by saying the food here is AMAZING, it can be a little overpriced but the quality of the food is great. Drinks are also amazing and they have a large selection on the menu. We came here expecting to have an enjoyable Mother's Day dinner, but, were disappointed when we noticed we were not receiving the same service as everyone else at the restaurant. Our server tonight was Austin and he came to our table asking "are you guys ready to order" in a rude tone. He did not introduce himself, we had to ask what his name was, and we had to ask if we could start off with just drinks. We thought maybe he's just in a rush but the restaurant wasn't even that busy. We decided to brush it off at first and give him the rest of the night to correct himself. We were FOOLED, he completely ignored us the rest of the time we were there, didn't ask how any of the food was, didn't come to refill our drinks AT ALL, we sat at the table with empty drinks for half of the time we were there( as seen in the photo)while watching him constantly stopping at other tables to check on them and refill drinks. We didn't want to be those type of people to complain, but, we genuinely felt he was not providing the same quality service just because we were a table full of black women. When he finally came to our table after the food arrived, my grandmother kindly asked him for a water and another glass of wine. He came back and slammed the water on the table and walked away. 10 minutes went by and no wine. After another 5 minutes we reminded him and he said "oh I didn't hear you", but as a server your job in general is to make sure you ask if we would like a refill and our drinks were sitting empty for atleast 45 minutes. It was very disheartening to see that we were not being treated equally as the other diners were. At the end of the meal we were tired of keeping quiet and decided to express our concerns to the manager. I was glad to hear the manager apologize for the horrible service and assured us we would never experience this again if we returned to the restaurant. He did end up comping the meal for us, but that's not the outcome we wanted. We simply want to express our concerns that our server was clearly neglecting us, and not providing equal service to all his tables. We don't know what the servers intentions were, but, all we know is that he clearly felt a way about serving us. We genuinely appreciate the manager for hearing us out and apologizing and I really hope no other people of color have the same experience because it's truly an amazing restaurant. I hope I could say I would want to come back here but I'm not 100% sure I would. I would also like to acknowledge that another person reviewed this restaurant expressing the same concern about not being treated the same because of their skin color. I hope this restaurant recognizes that they need to address these concerns and ensure it doesn't happen again. read more

Ordered corn bread special & fried chicken with collard greens & mashed potatoes with real maple syrup for the chicken all excellent. Chicken cooked right crunchy but not greasy & the corn bread with specialty butter delicious. Would recommend reservations as it's always very busy in the evening. Shocked this place has 4.5 stars. We had the broccoli app and potato app which were both good. The fried chicken was greasy and tasteless along with the collard greens and mashed potatoes. The tuna was not edible. Very fishy tasting with stringy texture. They didn't even ask how I wanted it cooked. The manager said we were the first people who have complained and was visibly annoyed with the feedback. He begrudgingly removed it from the bill and was completely rude. The food isn't good enough to put up with this treatment. Do yourself a favor and go to another place for food. read more

We went there for dinner and we're very pleased with the service and the food. The bread is specially good since they have a bakery right across the restaurant were they make their bread. We had a hamburger and it was very good. The location is very convenient with parking in the back and public parking less than a block away. The place is very neat and you can eat inside or in a covered patio. Prices are reasonable. Overall, I recommend this restaurant. read more

Went here for our 4 months with my beautiful girlfriend. We had a reservation for 7pm and when we arrived they did not know where to put us. We waited for a few minutes until a waitress seated us. We were offered water and drinks which we both agreed on the finest tap and she went with a White Wine Sangria. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach that night. I wanted to try so many appetizers due to their craze from other reviews I saw before coming here. The cornbread here really is something special. Might be one of the best I've had in my life. The Strawberry Rupert Butter had an amazing tang and sweetness to it that combined wonderfully with the cornbread. The Jerk Pork Belly also was a lot of fun to eat. This was my first time trying a jerk flavored meal and it was a unique and delicious experience for me. The pork was cooked wonderfully nice and soft with loads of flavor. As for the Korean Fried Broccoli I was expecting something crazy but they are overall decent. Wished they had more sauce for the amount they give you but I would order them again. As for our entrees I went for the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and that was insane. This was also my first type of chicken and waffles esq type of meal and I couldn't be more satisfied. The syrup they gave was so sweet but light and soaked my chicken pieces that absorbed it into the breading so well. The collard greens had great flavor with the small bacon bits and the whipped mash was fabulous. Definitely recommend this dish. My girlfriend went for the Huli Huli Chicken and it had very fun flavor of sweetness. We both tried our best to clean our plates but the appetizers had us filled. Reason I'm giving the 4 stars was due to our waitress doing a lousy job. She initially brought over the wrong appetizers to our table and we thought nothing of it but then she completely forgot about us mid way through our dining. Another waiter noticed our lack of water and didn't clean our tables like the others that were being attended to. He really picked up the slack. She came back apologizing but I'm not sure what she was doing. She also took our silverware without replacing it from our initial appetizers. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and she was dealing with something important but I wished it was a bit more smooth from our end with our whole experience. Overall a fabulous place with a very nice and modern ambiance. I definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Middletown area that wants a fine dining experience. read more

I like this place. it's spacious inside, has outside seating and the staff is nice and attentive. Food is really good, their cocktails made with local wines are really good too. They also have local beers. let's start with the cornbread which is really yummy, follow that up with the buttermilk fried chicken with whipped potatoes, pollo al rosmarino with polenta was delicious. Another great meal here. The beet and citrus salad was tangy from the dressing and citrus but sweet from the beets. The 1/2 portion of fusilli was definitely a substantial portion and the addition of ricotta gave it a nice creamy texture. My husband had his favorite fried chicken and pronounced it best around. My favorite thing is that everything that was supposed to be hot came out hot. My own pet peeve our server Diandra was delightful, informative, and efficient. Visiting the area and was lucky enough to find this gem. Food was fantastic. Local and fresh. The Cornbread is one of the best ever. We had gazpacho soup and beet salad to start. Tasty soup and beet salad was fresh and dressing was superb. Entrees included the gnocchi with pesto that was outstanding and the beef fusilli bolognese was loaded with flavor. Good selection of local beer and wines. Bread is baked next store and we went Sunday morning for sourdough olive loaf to bring home. Don't miss a chance to dine here. read more

How this restaurant is not # 1 on Yelp is beyond me. First off this place is absolutely stunning. The open kitchen concept was what solidified my love for this place. The fried chicken was one of the best I have had. The manager was so friendly and shared with us the history of the restaurant. While we were just relaxing, we also got to see the staff being offered TRAYS of food to eat from!! All the wait staff was cooked fresh trays of food and invited to sit and eat at tables near the bar. As if I wasn't already impressed, I was then blown away by this generosity and rarely seen treatment towards their staff. Please support this place. I was just visiting the area and won't have the opportunity to return for a while, but when I am able to visit again I will support Oak and Reed again and again. We've been to Oak & Reed countless times and they have always gone above and beyond each and every time. I've been there in a group of 2 and have been there in a group of 12. The service, food, and drinks are impeccable. There hasn't been a time that I didn't order the Korean Fried Broccoli, thank goodness it's still on the menu.. it's to die for! But then there is always something new to try and so many options. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a smile, then once seated you are then greeted by your server, who are always so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. I first want to begin this with WOW! I was rather in a rush looking for places to eat and found this quaint little places tucked in Middletown. We first started off with appetizers the broccoli and cornbread which were both absolutely amazing. The broccoli had an Asian kick to it which was surprisingly very good and mouth watering. Next, the cornbread? To die for! It was perfectly made, nice and crispy on the outside with a soft inside. I then had ordered a large fair plate, which was truly delicious. The beef was perfectly easy to cut and smooth like butter. I am extremely happy to find this restaurant! And will be coming even more now! read more
