First time eating here last night, and I honestly cannot come up with a single even tiny issue. Party of 4; each shared some small plates for appetizers; and each had our own entree and dessert. All absolutely delicious, prepared perfectly with thought and creativity. Ambience was perfect; tables not too close together but arranged in a way where you still feel like you're part of the atmosphere. Spotlessly clean establishment as well. Service was impeccable, friendly, and our waiter had a great sense of humor and banter. I am still salivating over my filet w bone marrow crust, burrata, housemade bread and seasonal drink (apple cider sangria). The first time I was in town with my bf and I tried Oak and Reed and everything was so delicious we just had to come back! We ordered way to much food and loved every single dish. You HAVE to get the corn bread it came out nice and hot with warm cinnamon flavored butter on the side my fav. And definitely try the Korean fried broccoli and pork tenderloins. This is quickly becoming our new Go To place! The decor is sharp, clean and inviting and the food and service have been excellent each time we have gone there. They have an nice wine list and interesting cocktails. Their outdoor seating in the Atrium is great! Absolutely fantastic food. My friend brought me here to celebrate my birthday in October of 2020, and we were able to sit outdoors which was nice considering the pandemic. This is a brand new restaurant in Middletown, NY on North Street in the old part of the city. Beautiful building, spacious, upscale, open kitchen, great lighting. Great decor and top rate service, very attentive servers. The menu is interesting with unique choices that varies somewhat from week to week. Everything was excellent...salmon, venison, fried chicken, humongous burgers, beef bourguignon, crispy brussel sprouts, pierogies, double cut pork chop, great pasta dishes and salads. They have an Incredible beer selection and full bar too. No complaints at all. They opened and hit the ground running.... no disappointments even in the first week! My husband, 2 kids and I all went for an early dinner reservation. I was surprised the place was bigger than I expected. I like the open kitchen setting. I really loved the wood grill steak! They have kids menu like chicken fingers and fries so my son was happy! We all finished our foods, no leftovers to bring home. Everything we ordered was delicious! Came here for Valentines Day. Was a prix fixe menu consisting of appetizers, entree and dessert. Nice mix of options in each category. You don't see foie gras on many menus, and this one was delicious. The fluke crudo was also a different and tasty choice. The surf and turf entree was cooked to perfection. Dessert selections were also interesting. The olive oil cake with coconut sorbet and roasted pineapple was yummy, nice flavor combination. The strawberries with sabayon was ok, the sauce was on point but strawberries are not that great this time of year. Very large and varied wine list, something for everyone. Service was terrific, attentive but not overly intrusive. All in all, a lovely meal in a lovely venue. Will return! read more

Food was good. Service was good. Server was able to identify one dish that was gluten free. It would be nice to have more gluten free options and have the menu note which options are safe. Not sure if they don't do this for liability reasons. My wife stated she's gluten free because of celiac and she ordered fried broccoli and the dish was brought out with tempura, which has gluten. No big deal, I ate them and they were delicious. However, it would just be easier to see what's gluten free if it's on the menu. My steak was ordered medium, came out more like Medium well. Was good anyways. Slightly disappointing but still tasted good. We had Easter dinner catered here another time and I highly recommend. We will likely do that again. read more

I was hoping to have a salad, but it was served with a bacon vinaigrette, and I would have preferred to have fish, but the salmon had a sweet glaze. My wife and I try visit as many restaurants in the Hudson Valley as possible, from Warwick up to Kingston and sometimes beyond. We've hit up most of the "good" ones. We tried Oak and Reed with some family last night. Between 6 people and 10 different plates, there was not ONE single thing wrong with any aspect of our meal. Oak and Reed was HANDS DOWN the best dining experience we've had in YEARS!!! Between the fried chicken, the venison, the schnitzel (ordered by a man born and raised in Germany who said "This is the best meal I've had in a long, long time!"), every plate wasn't just good; it was fantastic! The duck confit was a "small plate". I could have ordered that as my main course and left satisfied. The fried chicken was perfectly good, tender, and amazing. The juniper made the venison truly amazing. The whole mean was impeccable. Given our trip was amid the pandemic, Inwas slightly uneasy about eating out. But the spacing between tables was fantastic! So much room between tables I didn't feel even a bit uneasy. Service was wonderful too. Oak and Reed is one of the best dining experiences in the Hudson Valley, bar none. Last night I had dinner with a friend at Oak & Reed. We made a reservation and were seated promptly when we arrived. We both ordered a pear cocktail that was really good! We also both had the shrimp cocktail. It was a large portion (I believe it was 6 large shrimp) and delicious. I ordered a pasta bolognese which was incredible! (They make all their pasta fresh in house) I opted for the smaller portion and it was huge! For $10 I couldn't believe how large of a portion it was! He ordered the scallops and even though I didn't taste them but they looked delicious and he said they were cooked perfect and were also amazing. The atmosphere at Oak and Reed was very relaxed the open kitchen is really nice and the place just has a cool vibe all around. I can't wait to go back! read more

Have been there for 3 dinners, a party, take outs & lunches- they never disappoint! The food is incredible every time. Had an amazing spicy fried broccoli appetizer that I shared with my husband. I then had the Burrata Salad and the small size of Gemelli Bolognese (which I couldn't finish since I was dying to have the almond cake for dessert!) Everything I try is great - they change up the menu enough to keep it interesting but my favorites are always there. A relaxed atmosphere and great service put this place over the top. Tonight was date night for my wife of 30+ years and I. Several friends had recommended the Oak & Reed. We were not disappointed. We had a reservation, but we were delayed and called to let them know were would be late. When we arrived, our table was still waiting for us. The atmosphere was fantastic! Plenty of room at each table, not crammed in like some other local restaurants. It was open and airy. Kayla was our server. She was very attentive and efficient in providing probably the best service we have ever had in a restaurant, anywhere. The food... The food was fantastic.
