Everyone has some kind of medical Achilles heel. For some it's their vision or hearing; for others it's more intense. My medical vice is my teeth. I've had a LOT of major dental work since I was in my teens (I'm close to 40 now)--I've had everything from root canals, dental implants, countless fillings, crowns, bite adjustments, braces, Invisalign, TMJ & tension migraines, etc, etc, etc. I come from a family of orthopaedic surgeons, and I am a doctor myself--that means that I am extremely picky and particular about my health care. I have lived coast to coast (Boston, California, Illinois, Texas). I've been to so many dentists, and I am so picky that I used to travel to Illinois for my dental work; I couldn't find anyone who was meticulous enough for my needs. After moving to Texas, I tried out Oak Canyon Dentistry (after seeing other dentists that didn't make par). I wouldn't even transfer my records at first; I judged them on a standard dental prophylaxis (cleaning). It was one of the best cleanings that I have had. Furthermore, I met Dr. Haase, who did the most thorough oral exam, and even discussed my bite. I had been suffering from TMJ and migraines for over 10 years--I found out that this was most likely due to an incorrect bite (from the amount of dental work that I had had in the past). I now have irreversible TMJ, but Dr. Haase adjusted my bite, and my migraines have resolved completely. I will say that I tend to be a little more sore after any dental work (ie: fillings), but I also believe that this is because his skill level is so high. I think he's able to perform at a more endodontic level. He's done multiple fillings, and has been able to save many of my teeth (since the fillings are quite large). I think the vast majority of other dentists wouldn't have been able to save those teeth and would have either recommended a root canal or a dental implant (these cost $6k, by the way, and involve pulling the tooth). Typically, I will sacrifice bed-side manner for top notch dental care. At Oak Canyon Dentistry, I receive both; everyone has impeccable bed side manner, and top notch care. Dr. Haase is so accommodating to my own tricky schedule, and will fit me in wherever he can (even on his days off). My entire family now flies into town for their own dentistry needs, because he's that good. If I could give Dr. Haase and Oak Canyon Dentistry 10 stars, I would. This is not only the best dentist in Austin, but the best in the country, in my opinion. read more

I've been a loyal patient since 2011, and my experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. I'm 54 and I've lived in Western Travis county for over 15 years. Since I was 5 I've had a lot of major Dental work done and trust me- my teeth are complicated. Having tried severaI dentists in the area, I was in need of an experienced professional. I'm not into pain and I dislike wasting money. The Dentist I was looking for would enjoy his work and was not only talented but had plenty of experience. I interviewed 5 Dentist offices and when I walked into Dr. Stephen Haase's (pronounced like Hayes) office I knew I had found the right place. Their outer office is spacious, open and well-eqipped (computer w/ internet, flat screen TV, Kuerig coffee machine, comfortable couch and furniture, etc. Very nice and relaxing. The personnel were friendly and helpful. My first appointment was amazing, truly state of the art equipment. X-rays took moments and were up on 50" monitors right in front of me within seconds. The miniature camera Dr. Haase uses to show you each problem area in your mouth is in high-resolution, and helps you see what's really happening. He takes pictures of the tooth, before, (during, if necessary) and after, and explains as clearly as I've ever been told what your options are. When you are in the chair, they give you the remote. You can watch what you want. A great diversion. In Dr. Haase, I've found a talented professional, who really cares and spares no expense in keeping up with the latest technologies. Let me first tell you, I have been to my share of Dentists in my life. I am in my 20's and have had a lot of detailed work done to my mouth. The summer of 2007 I had a terrible experience with a dentist in Louisiana and scarred me for life. The terrible experience left me unable to use my left side of my mouth. For the past 3 1/2 years I've only had one side of my mouth functioning, and at the age of 23 this was a sad time. I have been to over 5 Dentist in the 3 1/2 years and no one and I mean no one has been able to tell me what is wrong or be able to fix it. My father introduced me to Dr. Steven Haase at an appointment I was afraid to go to. I was scarred because of all the horrible things and pains I have had in the past. Dr. Haase performed a miracle on me, I swear to you this man is a genius! He was nice, confident and considerate about my fears. I didn't know there was such a dentist out there who cared about his patients! The appointment was just for a routine check-up and turned into a wonderful adventure which saved the left side of my jaw! This Dentist is all and above the way one should be. I would recommend him to anyone! He will fix any problem and help prevent future problems! If you need a dentist don't look any further!!! I have to tell ya, I'm not a huge fan of dental visits, my blood pressure typically registers rather high every time it's checked during my cleanings. Well, I visited Dr. Steven Haase's practice on Tuesday, 12/14/10, and had a very pleasant experience. Mona checked me in, Frances took the x-rays and assisted as Dr. Haase walked me through what was revealed. Thankfully, all was good. The cleaning was gentle and he frequently asked me to tell him if he was hurting me, he wanted to be sure to make my experience pain-free. (which is good, because I'm a weenie when it comes to dental work). I received a thorough exam for oral cancer, and we discussed where I could potentially have problems when viewing my teeth live on the 42" TV screen (the little camera probe is pretty cool). Dr. Haase also showed me kids dentistry book he authored, as he has a passion for pediatric dentistry. So, if you're looking to improve your current dental experience, give Oak Canyon a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised, like me. DR. HAASE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!! I know most people DO NOT like going to the dentist...the mere thought sends panic through a lot of people. But let me tell you, this office from the MOMENT you make your appointment until the moment your treatment has been completed you will be completely comfortable and at ease with this entire office staff as well as the dentist himself. His knowledge and understanding is extraordinary and vast. He is candid and clear about your dental needs as well as very empathetic and understanding of your fears and concerns. I see Dr. Haase on a yearly basis due to pain in my masseter muscles(facial muscles) The relief I receive from BOTOX injections gives me almost instant relief. Without this type of treatment I would be in pain daily! Dr Haase came highly recommended. I had the best experience. The entire staff is extremely friendly. Immediately felt comfortable the moment walking in. After my cleaning I was shown pics of my teeth where I saw a couple areas that needed filled from cavities. They were able to get me back in right away to treat that. I had ZERO discomfort. Dr Haase was very gentle. Took his time. Gave me rest breaks for my jaw. (TMJ) showed me before and after pics of the work he did. Enjoyed my visit for my teeth cleaning. During my exam Dr Haase found the source of my tooth sensitivity was from a cracked tooth that had been aching for months. With his CEREC equipment also known as SAME DAY porcelain crowns he easily produced me a digitally scanned crown in my visit that day. The staff prepped my tooth scanned it made my crown and had it mounted in less then 2hrs. Saved me from missing work & driving back in on a another day. Thank you for being so thorough. read more

Dr. Haase and his staff provide a comfortable environment with results that are noticeable. This practice is very professional and addressed all of my questions and concerns on the spot.
