Another almost half of the space is occupied by a mini antique shop within the marketplace. (I especially liked seeing an old school-desk made of solid wood and featuring a specific metal holder where an inkwell would sit.) Plenty of handmade and local gifty items are spread throughout. Those hand (really it's laser) etched tiles seem to be all the rage these days. Nothing here really fit my fancy (other than that desk) but it was by no means a place not worth visiting. It has all the charm of a small town with the modern touch and presentation of a chain store. Worth dropping in, though I add it hesitantly to my collection of area antique stores.

Lines were wrapped throughout the large market and I found myself weaving between carts and lines everywhere. There were several displays that I couldn't reach, but what I did get to was tempting! I browsed the extensive cheese and meat selections, all of the candy, and some of the baked goods in the center. I left with cheese curds, meat sticks, and a plastic clamshell of root beer barrels. I thought the prices were fair for the quality of the products. The store was massive and laid out in an organized way. They even had a seating area upstairs that I would love to come back and check out.

First, this place is very clean, and aisles are labeled very well. The employees on my visit were exceptionally polite. Prices here are reasonable in comparison to other grocers. Selection here is another story. I visit grocery stores all over the country in search of local/regional products. Though it offers Ohio-based products, Heinen's has more than its fair share of products produced my multi-national corporations. I'm totally not against that. I do, however, want to see more than a brand or two that isn't Vlasic, Oscar Meyer, or General Foods.
