Brought in my senior cat who was having digestive problems. He hadn't seen our out-of-town vet in quite a while - not a regular patient of OFVH. They worked him into their schedule, and ran tests to determine problem. After seeing the care given by the vet techs, and the professionalism of the office staff, I decided on the spot to make this my regular vet. Dr. Lane followed up with a check on kitty's status, then with test results. The practice is busy, but I didn't feel rushed through, and the entire staff seemed to be animal lovers. read more

I brought my aggressive adult dog here, he has never had shots and wasn't very socialized when I brought him in this past year. But, they handled him so well! They were very patient and understanding with me and spike and knew just how to take care of him that wouldn't cause me or spike too much anxiety! They gave him calming meds, allowed me to handle him when it was best, always managed to surprise him how they would come in with him in their arms, and they would also tell me when spike has had his limit of new stuff. They were very caring and I love this vet!! They're also the only place that would take my fearful/ aggressive dog. I appreciate them and 10/10 recommend!! read more

Dr Greene did not tell me the severity of a precautionary procedure. When my dogs internal arm stitches came undone I had a panic attack. Dr Greene admitted she had not stitched her arm to anticipate swelling and I had to bring my dog back to fix her error. I sobbed bringing her back and when she was returned to me her tummy was covered in urine. THEY HAD THE NERVE TO CHARGE ME $300 TO FIX THEIR MISTAKE. $1000 later, worst experience of my life, I will NEVER return and I went to another vet that didn't even charge me to remove her stitches. This place is totally under pressure about money and has lost sight of what really matters. AWFUL. read more

Very unprofessional and treated my pet as if he was not a priorit. I was told my dog needed treatments and they didn't even schedule or plan it as suggested. I had to keep calling and following up to get my dog taken care of. When you schedule a visit, you still need to wait 10-15mins for a drop off and they ask the same questions and never know what they are doing. One hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing. I post this review with a sad heart. I have taken both of my pets to Oak Forest Vet Hospital over the last 10 years. It seems something has changed in management as of late...and I will no longer be taking my dog to OFVH. I was given an estimate of cost for a treatment plan which didn't sound unreasonable. I was then given a second estimate for an overnight stay for my dog. Since my dog had an appetite and was eating (my recommendation to test this out, not theirs), I decided to take him home. What I was NOT given was an estimate of the medications recommended. Fast forward to checkout and my amount due is close to $400 more than the initial treatment plan. Upon calling to express my disappointment, I was told I should have asked about the medications when checking out if I was not satisfied. Wait, what? How am I supposed to know what medications my dog needs/doesn't need? You are the vet, correct? I was definitely given explanation as to how to administer the medication - but how would I know what is considered optional? At this point I am just worried about my dog living another minute....which brings me to point #2. The relief vet, which to say the least, was lacking in bedside manner, had me on the verge of tears in not knowing if my dog was even going to live! Never had I felt so on edge with regard to the care for my dog. Upon calling with my concerns, the office manager put the onus on me for not disputing the charges at checkout. What a terrible position to be in - having to debate what medications my dog needs...after your vet doctor just had me to believe my dog may not make it through the day. NOT OK. I will not be back...and until something is identified as what has gone wrong at OFVH, I would caution you to do the same. read more

I hesitate to write this review while my pet is still under the care of this facility. Until this week, I had the utmost faith in OFVH. But I'm currently shaking. The front of office staff has always been the weak point of the facility, but Dr. Moore and her vet techs have more than made up for their short comings in the past. Currently, everyone, outside of Natalie, is failing me. No one answering the phones knows anything or speaks with any concern to people who are going through SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THEIR BELOVED FURRY CHILDREN. Timely returned calls are something I can no longer expect. I'm told messages are left, when I have no missed calls or voicemails and there are no notes on my son's records so that a tech can discuss with me what's going on after the doctor leaves. I'm assured that a note will be left for the doctor to call me as soon as she gets in early the next morning, and by mid morning when I've heard nothing, I get the brush off when I call. ** Edited to say that I have heard back from Dr. Moore. And I do believe that she is a caring individual who holds each of the fur babies that she treats close to her heart. I also still believe that there areas of improvement needed within the facility, but after another discussion with her today, I believe she is aware of and working on these issues. read more

Once again it was Halloween @ Oak Forest. It was so relaxing; I tried to get a suite for Graciee and me. Everyone there is pet friendly and remarkably understanding towards the needs of every four footed warrior. One by one they come "marching in." There is little to no wait time. I have had pups for 68 years. Each and everyone has a " no return" label. There is a personal bond with all the ones we have loved/ rescued and found under extraordinary circumstances. I have my own "ARK in the forest." Whenever I say " no more" someone appears on my doorstep. I will click my heels and hope there will be an avian wing soon. Geese welcome. I was told I could not get my dog till the bill was paid in full. They ran a heap of test without even asking, administered an IV (in less than 2 hrs?) , gave us multiple medications one of which was for vomiting (which he wasn't). This isn't the first time either. Just a few weeks prior I he had an eye infection which cost nearly $400. Go to THRIVE or any other reputable vet out there. The customer service was terrible! I got a call from a male manager after being very vocal about this to the staff and asking for an adjustment on the bill. This "manager" was beyond rude and unprofessional. We will not be going back. I never write a bad review, and I don't think 1 persons mistake should describe the company as a whole. I think this has been a good vet to go to until now. My pup has scheduled surgery with Dr. Greene. And until the surgery, the pup needs her leg in a splint. We've had the splint changed with this Dr. multiple times and they're suppose to last a week with the Pup being kenneled. And the Dr. does a great job everything. Except On Wednesday evening we had a whole new split changed and Friday evening it flew right off. So it lasted 2 days people. This has never happened before, so obviously this splint change wasn't done like the others. AND THAT'S OKAY. No one is perfect. I'm not upset at the splint flying off. Which I have videos from my back yard camera. And pictures of the splint in one piece. Y'all, it Just flew right off when she ran to the door after going potty outside. What I'm upset about, is they're wanting to charge me again. The decision was made between Dr. Greene and the owner Moore to charge me again even though I have the proof the splint wasn't done properly. I'm not asking for much other than to do what was right. This isn't a money issue, it's a moral issue. They cared more about the money to change the splint than taking care of their patient when it's their mistake. I'll no longer do the surgery with this veterinary because I can only imagine if they didn't do the bandage correctly and want to charge me to fix their mistake. If this was a human and a bandage was done wrong and came off, any doctor would not hesitate to bring them in and fix what was wrong. You Lost $800+ of business over a $38 splint change. My fur baby was referred here to see a dermatology specialist. We have been battling a terrible terrible skin issue and our vet had done everything possible. We saw Dr. Merchant for our visit. She is sooooo nice and very knowledgeable and put me at ease about finally finding a solution for my fur babies itchy irritated skin. Her assistant was the best! I really wish I could remember her name. We are one week into the new treatment and I am seeing some improvement!! Reese gets longer breaks from the cone (which we both hate). My husband and I had ringworm ALL over our face/body and had been diagnosed by a dermo who told us it was ringworm and that we got it from a dog. I take my dog to this vet because she has scabs all over her face, because she 100% had ringworm. Vet told me they couldn't give me medication/shampoo till the culture came back two weeks later. And at that point me and my husbands ringworm would have been cleared up/treated and then we are still dealing with my dogs ringworm that is extremely contagious.... so I took my dog to another vet and they gave me shampoo/topical medication IMMEDIATELY, because it wasn't going to hurt my dog even if she didn't have ring worm. Also won't fax/scan your dogs prescriptions to any online store you buy your dogs medication from. You have to pick a handwritten prescription up in person. Have never in my life had to deal with such a difficult staff/facility. Never going back there again. read more

Our dog, Bella, needed immediate care and we found this veterinary hospital online. After reading the reviews online we decided to give them a call - after explaining our situation the employee told us they had no open spots until a couple of days but she would give us a call back after talking to the vet. About five minutes later, they asked if we could come in about an hour and a half later. This was great news. The waiting area is very nice and clean, as well as spacious. A few minutes before our scheduled time, the nurse came and brought us into the room and went over everything with us. We saw Dr. Maddox. She is understanding and thorough and overall a wonderful vet. Very glad to have found this vet clinic. We moved to the neighborhood 2 years ago. We tried another clinic but was not happy with the service at our last visit. We adopted a new puppy and decided to give Oak Forest Vet a try. The first impression on the phone was very good. They have appt available very quickly. The vet Dr Maher was really nice and thorough. She didn't push any test or service. After that, We took our 11 year old cat for an annual check up. We met Dr Morris. She's very experienced and good with our cat. She suggested that we do a senior panel on him due to his age. The tests did find that he has thyroid problem. Dr Moore was very clear when explaining the treatment options and gave us a plan to work with. We feel very good having the vets at Oak Forest Vet Hospital take care of our animals. It's a very nice place and everyone was super nice. read more

The front desk needs adjustments. I took my dog in to be checked and when I was waiting for his meds I was standing at the counter. no other customers were inline. I was told by Meta that there was a chair that I could sit in. I said I was fine you could tell she did not want me standing there. fast forward to 8 days later I called because my dog was still having the issue and just wanted Mets to ask the fox if I should put him back on the meds. Meta said we don't have any appts available. I said again I don't need an appt. this went on until I asked to speak to someone else. i was put on hold so I hung up. I called back and got someone else who thought she needed to champion meta even when I said I don't want to deal with her. i decided this was not working for me. I hung up. in a few minutes I got a call from meta about an appt time. I told her that I would not be using them again. this is long but it was really frustrating The docs and assistants are nice it's just the front desk that is out to ruin this business. After waiting 50 minutes past my appointment time to be seen by the vet, he spent less than 3 minutes in the room for an annual exam for two pets. He barely said anything to me then was out the door. And they charge $55 per pet for the exam. We've been bringing our pets to this vet clinic for 6 years, and they used to be great. Unfortunately it has been a horrible experience the past several times we've come in for annual exams and vaccines, so we will not be returning. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: I guess Tyler was joking when, in his perfunctory cut and past response to my review, he suggested I call to discuss. I did call, left a message, and no follow up in more than a week. No response is better than an insincere rote response. Let me start by saying I have been taking my pets to OFVH for at least the past 20 years. I should have learned my lesson when they first misdiagnosed my cat and, as he continued to deteriorate, I took him to Gulf Coast Veterinary Clinic where he was properly diagnosed. Unfortunately, by then, it was too late for him. Secondly, they gouged me for unnecessary tests and treatments for my dog who was suffering from heart disease. Again, GCVC came to the rescue. I guess my last and final straw was when I took my dog (a recently adopted foster) for his annual checkup. Before going, I asked for an "estimate" of charges and was told it would be about $156. I then called Forest West (who my daughter uses) and was told the charges would be $148. As the difference was small, and Oak Forest is closer, I went to Oak Forest. AFTER the services were rendered, I was told they had made a mistake and charges would be $225. I told them that was unacceptable as I had asked in advance and was told something considerably less which was the only reason I chose to use Oak Forest. They refused to take responsibility for their mistake and suggested the only thing they would do is NOT run the blood tests (for blood already drawn from dog) and NOT do fecal test which would reduce bill to about $142. They refused to perform the tests for the originally quoted amount. This tells me they clearly are not concerned for the well being of the dog (by suggesting I forego these routine components of an annual exam) but instead more concerned about collecting their inflated and misrepresented charges, even though I was initially quoted something less. Buyer beware. They will lure you in with a lesser quote and then stick it to you on your way out. Too many better options to put up with these unacceptable business practices. read more

Based on the rave reviews from other yelpers, I've taken my furbabies here twice and both times had a negative experience. We saw Dr. Moore the first time, and she was great! Really knowledgable and very friendly -- this negative review is a reflection of their front desk staff and policies. My biggest issue with this place was when my little 9 month old puppy started bleeding in the middle of the night. When I woke up at 4 a.m., I walked into the kitchen where the babies sleep and was shocked at the amount of blood and poop smeared on the kitchen floor. Link was shivering and lethargic -- I called GCVS and they recommended that I wait for my regular vet (Oak Forest) to open and take Link there first thing in the morning. I stayed up the rest of the morning and since OF opens at 7 a.m., I loaded everyone in the car at 6:30a, and waited outside for OF to open. They were 10 minutes late opening that morning and as soon as they flipped over their "open" sign, I ran in with Link cradled in my arms. I was visibly upset and scared, and immediately told the front desk staff person what had happened. I had Link in his bed and carried him in that way and placed the bed on the counter. They could see that he was shivering and was very weak, but instead of offering any comfort, they said that they were booked all day and that there wouldn't even be a doctor on site until 9 a.m. The bed was soaked in blood, the little 9 pound pup was shivering and very weak -- it's obvious that this is an emergency situation, but still they were unwilling to accomodate my dog because "they were booked up that day." Even the human hospitals and medical care system that is so often criticized makes special accommodations for emergencies. Additionally, it is a basic assumption that a vet is available (on-site) during business hours. I have never heard of doctors not being available at all -- like not being on-site at all -- during business hours. Instead of the help I was looking for and assumed that I would receive at an animal hospital, I was turned away. Let me also note that we were existing clients of OF, not just some random people off the street (not saying that random people should get shittier treatment, but you would think that a clinic would have an interest in trying to assist existing clients). By the time I got Link to another hospital, he had lost consciousness due to his body going into shock and his liver shut down. Had I not made it to another hospital in time, my dog would have died due to OF's inaction. Sure, OF may do a decent job for the basic, routine visits -- but if you think that OF will be able to accomodate your dog during a crisis, where your regular vet's familiarity with your furbaby might be helpful, think again. I don't care how competitive OF's prices are, if they can't have your back when you really need them, they are not worth your business. OF is like a fair-weather friend: when times are good, they'll be there, but as soon as it gets bad or you really need them, OF will not be there for you and your baby. read more

A week or so ago, The Prized Pitbull (who's a cat, btw) decided that yarn was yummy and had to make a little visit to the Oak Forest Veterinary Clinic. The Pitbull is a hostile, grouchy, aggressive fat cat, and since her tummy hurt AND she had to go to the vet, she was on her extra special behavior. We were a walk-in, and everyone was very understanding and immediately took us in. They were also very reluctant to touch the hissing, growling monster, choosing instead to sedate her before the exam. In the end, we resulted to exploratory surgery to clear all the yarn out! Eek!!!Dr. Nanze and all the staff were extremely professional and patient with me and the Pitbull! I love them! Their prices are also very very reasonable! Don't get me wrong - exploratory surgery is not cheap, but I was remarkably surprised that I could also still afford Holiday Gifts! The downside, and the only reason they didn't get 5 stars - they don't offer payment plans - gotta pay it all at once. read more

I have never had a good experience here. They get 2 stars for being an easy pick up for Trifexis. But only if you have up-to-date shot records available. But on the animal care side of things my experiences have been: 1. My Chihuahua had blood in his urine. They did tons of tests to the tune of over $500 and recommended an expensive, invasive surgery. I got a second opinion, and the issue was fixed with a change in diet. 2. I took a rescue there to be fixed which is not the cheapest. When I picked him up, they gave me instructions on the e-collar, I paid and left. Later I got a call wanting my credit card (or for me to come back in) to pay the $15 they forgot to bill me on the e-collar. Really? I never asked for it. And when I went back in, there was no apology for the mix up, just total silence. 3. I took my aging mix dog there for annual shots. She is deaf and has bad eyesight. When the doctor tried to examine her ears, she snapped at him. He screamed at her and swatted at her head. I was crushed by the experience. Every time I go into this place, I leave angry at myself for giving them another chance. read more

Service and quality has gone down the toilet since Dr. Maggie left. We no longer feel welcome when we bring our animals here, but rather like an inconvenience. We have seen a few different vets and vet techs, none of which have taken the time or effort to know us or our beloved pets. I most recently called to get some additional information about the service my husband received, only to get the run around by the girl who answered the phone, and a half-hearted email in response to my request for a PHONE CALL from the manager. Questionable service from the vets and spineless responses from management have forced to me look for a new vet, where I won't have to worry about myself or my animals being mistreated. There are people on your pages upset because the exact same thing happened to them! I do not know these people, I did not conspire with these people to leave reviews - in some cases months ago! However, I do see that you yourself (Tyler M.) left a glowing 5 star review of your own practice! Yes, I signed the form when I dropped him off saying you could perform blood work if necessary. However, I did not approve a pancreatic test, IV for fluids or the other battery of tests you ran on the dog. You did not call to discuss the tests performed on the dog. I did however receive a call from the doctor letting me know he was ready to be picked up and that you really didn't know what was causing his symptoms but you wrote him two prescriptions and he has already been given one dose at the office. NEVER did you discuss any of the tests that were run or the results of those tests. I don't think anyone drops a dog off at the vet for a common issue and thinks they have to worry about hundreds of dollars worth of tests being run without even a phone call! I only found out about the tests when I picked him up and was handed the outrageous bill. I spoke with Tyler Moore over the phone about the charges and asked for a refund for the tests that I did not approve (not my entire bill and not even the blood work that I still believe was uncessasary). You refused, in my opinion you were rude and extremely aggressive with me over the phone. Similar to the way you respond to people on social media who leave you anything less than a 5 star review. Yes while we were on the phone I did let you know we would not be returning your practice and did suggest I would go to social media to voice my opinion about the service we received and after I told you this you let me know that you do not respond kindly to threats. However, I let it go and never left a review about the situation with you or your practice. My daughter after thinking about it for some time and after seeing other reviews saying the same exact thing happened to them did feel the need to give an honest review the services her dog received while HER dog was in your care! You retaliated by searching for her place of work on Facebook and leaving a negative review about her, attack her character and her place of work, a place you have never received services from! I am beyond disappointed and absolutely can not believe because someone gives you an honest and unsatisfactory review you Tyler Moore and your wife Dr. Moore proceed to look up the person who gave you the bad review and see where they work only to go to that website and Facebook page and proceed to slander them. He will leave negative reviews for service he never received. We LOVE Oak Forest Vet. The vets know our animals by name and remember their issues without even consulting the chart. You get the sense that they really care about your pets. They got my (rescued) dog through heartworm treatment (dangerous and scary!) and worked with me to find the right treatment for my elderly, asthmatic cat, and they answered a million questions very patiently. They're very sweet to the animals and really seem to know their stuff. They also are not into pushing expensive, unnecessary treatment. They work hard, in my experience, to keep the animals well without putting them through anything they don't really need. This means when they order a bloodwork panel for your cat or something, you feel confident that it's something the animal really needs. You'll notice that their waiting room and exam rooms aren't fancy or anything. I think this is part of how they keep costs down for their patients, and I really appreciate it. All in all: friendly, approachable service, homey atmosphere, and in two years with them, they've kept my animals healthy and happy. read more

I had my first appointment today with this vet's office. I am new to the area and called a few places to shop around on the services offered. The person who helped me at this office was thorough, provided me with answers to my millions of questions, and was patient with me on top of it. I read some negative reviews before coming in. I was hesitant but, I am glad I decided to judge for myself. The front desk staff was great and got me checked in right away. Next, Kaelin, a vet technician, greeted us. I don't think anyone could have been a better match for us. My dog has high anxiety but, Kaelin was fantastic and did a great job. She loved on her when needed and also stepped away when she felt necessary. I was very impressed. I then met with the doctor, Dr. Green. & all I can say is AMAZING & WONDERFUL. Also very patient with me and listened to my needs. Dr. Green and Kaelin discussed the best methods of approaching each situation with my dog. It worked out perfectly. Great staff, great service. Would definitely recommend to anyone living in the area. We've taken our cats to Oak Forest Vet Clinic for the past year or two. The vets are great and very warm. One of my cats has hairball issues and they have been very honest about what treatments are worth the cost, and which ones aren't worth the money (even though I'm sure they would make more money selling them to me!). Heads up - they only take walk ins on Saturdays, so the earlier you get there the shorter the wait typically is. Get there before 8 and you'll be in and out pretty quickly. read more

These wonderful Veterinarians, Technicians, Staff take such good care of my fur baby. I boarded him for Thanksgiving and he was very well taken care of. The technician informed me he had been given all of the food I had provided (as I had planned). They also did bloodwork and I was sent an email about 1 hour after picking him up informing me of the results. They are very friendly and professional and care deeply for their clients and patients! read more
