Lisa was very nice and accommodating in driving 100 miles north to deliver M2 to me. It would have saved me two hours more after 8 hours of drive time... better for M2 my German Shepherd puppy/son. She bathed his lustrous fur coat, and he was a happy puppy who was so well behaved during the entire drive home through the Sierra Nevada Mountains back to Reno/Tahoe area. Lisa had all his paperwork and gave me a bag of food but now he eats all natural fresh baked wild game meats and organic fruits and veggies. Today M2 gets to experience snow for the 1st time in his 20-week life. He is SO LOVING and loves to cuddle with dad (me) but loves to ferociously play fight while growling at dad. He had his final shots today so, in 10 days he'll get to experience hiking off leash in our mountain area where we seldom see a human or dogs... just coyotes, bear, deer, rabbits and beavers... and YES I carry a tactical weapons belt and survival gear and, I will protect M2 with my life. She called me "disgusting," accused me of thinking she was "forging health records" because I asked for verifiable OFA numbers, and added an implied threat: "You're lucky my husband was not there." My plan was simple: visit first, review the paperwork in person, think it over that night, and if everything checked out, come back the next morning and buy the puppy. I wasn't shopping for entertainment -- I was ready to purchase. Before driving 2.5 hours, I asked for basic proof (OFA hip/elbow results and the written health guarantee). She refused to share documentation by text and told me that in "29 years" she's rarely had anyone "demanding documents" and would only show them in person. At the visit, she pressured me to commit immediately and said, "Who drives 2 1/2 hours just to look at a puppy?" When I insisted on normal due diligence, she got hostile and later texted, "You're calling me a lier like I'm faking paperwork. Good luck!!" If this were a one-time transaction, I might have still taken the puppy. But if anything went wrong, I'd potentially have to deal with this breeder again -- and based on how she handled basic questions, I walked away. Beautiful puppy. I read reviews from this kennel and Lisa and I should have paid closer attention to how old they where. I purchased my puppy in 2024 and he was in the front yard (filthy) in a cage. I asked to see the kennel where the parents where but was told they would bring the parents out and they did, but the parents did not look like the ones that they had listed on their website. I will be honest and say that the property was very filthy, and i felt bad for the puppy. The puppy continuously licked on me and i felt as though he was crying for help to get out of there, so I feel as though i have saved his life. It appears as though maybe at one time (years ago) the kennel was more professionally ran and was cleaner, but now it is run down. This purchase of my first German shepherd puppy was smooth and the best experience ever. puppy was ready to go with all the paperwork. Lisa made us feel welcome and answered all of our questions. Lisa is amazing. This puppy was already crate, potty, and was able to sit on command at 11 weeks. The puppy we have is 9 months old and perfect. She is a very smart girl and learns really fast. Lisa has gone out of her way for us with medical questions and extremely knowledgeable about medical vaccines. Our puppy was all up to date. I am an RN and was able to use her record to update vaccines as needed. When you purchase an AKC puppy it's a huge responsibility. I have never bought a puppy. I have always rescued dogs and cats. This was a treat to experience a good breeder who does run a mill. She only has minimal size litters and educates the difference. She takes the mother dogs away at 8 weeks. The Mamsas live at a different ranch. I was so nervous and called her when the puppy had sleep in her eyes I was a wreck. She Lisa took time out and explained that puppies have weak immune systems so don't worry. Wow, it's like having a newborn human and I barely slept. Set up a bed next to her crate. Hahahaha. Then Lisa reminded me that if all people woke up every two hours to check their puppy none would own a puppy. We were also introduced to the sire, Diesal. Magnificent animal. Super sleek. I should have written a review a long time ago, but due to events resulting in my boy crossing the rainbow bridge at the age of 4, now is the time. I purchased my sweet boy from Lisa in July 2017 when he was 3 months old. When we went to her property, the yard was filthy with rusted steak knives on the ground and old Kabob sticks with some old meat still attached. Zeke was the only puppy they had left after a couple had allegedly returned him after not wanting him. He had the sweetest disposition, sat on my foot and chased a butterfly while we were asking her questions in the front yard. She assured us that there were no genetic conditions in his bloodline and his parents were hip/elbow certified. She said he was up to date on his shots and dewormed. We took him home 3 days later and I had a vet evaluate him 2 days after for persistent diarrhea. Lisa said it was most likely due to environment change, but he was diagnosed with roundworms. The vet assessed him and also informed me that he had an umbilical hernia, broken tail, fungal skin infection and multiple ticks. He also reviewed his shot record and informed me he only received his parvo vaccine and none of the combination vaccines. When I informed Lisa, she told me that he must've gotten worms from my backyard (after a few days). She also told me she didn't believe in combination vaccines and that I could choose to vaccinate him if I wanted to. With antihelminth medication, he started expelling the worms which were 6-8inches in length. She refused to assist me with vet bills per the contract despite my vet informing me that worms that size take weeks to develop. When Zeke was 10 months old, I noticed he was developing cloudy corneal deposits in the periphery of his vision. I took him to a vet who referred me to an ophthalmologist. They diagnosed him with corneal lipid dysplasia and did extensive blood work to rule out metabolic and environmental causes. They diagnosed him with the genetic form of this disease resulting in lifelong strict dietary changes and avoidance of triggers. I informed Lisa it was genetic so that she could alert other owners from the same litter and she did not believe me. I again asked for assistance with vet bills given the cost of a specialist vet and she informed me that I could have him evaluated by her vet and get another dog "of similar stock" per the contract. I told her I would not give Zeke back, but she assured me it meant I could get a second dog when I was ready if her vet agreed. I took him to be evaluated by her vet in Loma Linda, but she didn't show up for the appointment and I had to wait in the parking lot for her to show up and pay for the visit after her vet confirmed corneal lipid dysplasia. Zeke was very outgoing and personable and I have never seen him pull away from anyone until she reached into my car to try and touch him. She then offered me an additional puppy when I was ready which I have still not accepted. I asked for a partial refund instead to help with vet bills which she declined. When Zeke was 3.5 years old, he started having horrific seizures. It started off with one grand mal every 4-6 weeks and quickly progressed over the next 1.25 years of the remainder of his young life. They consisted of aggressive movements, loss of consciousness, urinary and fecal incontinence and postictal states. This last few months, he was hospitalized multiple times for cluster seizures and was diagnosed with genetic epilepsy by a neurologist who was regularly following Zeke and attempting to adjust his medication. He was taking ELEVEN pills a day for his epilepsy which continued to progress, as his neurologist deemed his condition severe. I reached out to Lisa in a desperate attempt to find out if any of her dogs or sold puppies had epilepsy in case there were certain medications that worked better for them. She suggested CBD oil and said none of her dogs have had epilepsy. My neurologist told me that 1 in 100 GSDs have epilepsy. He passed away from complications secondary to epilepsy in January 2022. I find it wildly unreasonable that she has no explanation or excuse for my baby having not one but TWO genetic conditions, and one resulting in his early passing. He didn't get a chance to reach his fifth birthday and I am beyond devastated to lose my companion and best friend. I spent tens of thousands on him trying aggressively to keep him with me for a little longer and was commended by our vet and the neurologist for my efforts. They kept telling me that I was the only reason he was given this much time, but I can't help but feel slighted for the short time. I will never take up her offer on another puppy as I could not bear the suffering she has imparted on me and my family again. I strongly recommend potential buyers to look elsewhere. read more

My wife and I bought a German Shepard puppy from Lisa in October. Sadie has been a delight and a joy in our life. She loves the snow and mountains and being around family. A few weeks ago she started chasing her tail and it was very difficult to get her to stop. We took her to the vet who could not figure out why she was such an extreme case. German Shepard Dogs are prone to tail chasing but this seemed out of the ordinary given the length of time she would do it. The vet put her on several medications and contacted behavior specialists to try and figure out what was wrong with her. I reached out to Lisa to inform her of the issue and to ask for advice. Not only did she offer excellent advice, she actually boarded our dog for a week to deal with the issue herself. When we got Sadie back a week later she was a changed dog. We had been spoiling her and she was acting out. Lisa was able to correct the issue that had stumped our vet, with discipline and consistency. Her experience and dedication to the GSD breed had never been so clear to me as it is now. Lisa, you have saved our dog and the words on this page cannot begin to explain how grateful I am to you. Never, never, ever, would I recommend this breeder to anyone. I thought I was going to a reputable breeder to buy a family pet, however, I was shocked. The proprietor, Lisa, is a rude person. The way business is done is horrible. The quality of dogs is terrible, I could only imagine the treatment they must receive. Although they have been recently upgraded their lines sires, this was not the case when I bought my puppy. I was told by my vet and friends that the pup I bought did not look pure bred. To anyone who is thinking about buying a puppy here, ask the following questions: 1. Was there ever any doubt,or were you every accused of having non-pure bred shepherd. Did you ever have puppies and claim different parents on the AKC paperwork? 2. Have you always been a honest person, do you have a jail record, how many times have there been conflicts in the way you do business? 3. Did you recently buy new dogs, or breed new dogs because your previous breeding pairs were not pure bred or they had medical defects? If you own animals, you should take good care of them, and if you do business you should be honest and do business with integrity especially if what you sell is going to be a member of someones family for many years. read more

We put down our deposit for a male from a litter from Tabo and Danika and Lisa was happy to answer any questions we had prior to and after their birth. She also provided videos and pictures of the litter upon request after they were born. You can tell she cares greatly for the puppies she raises which makes you feel comfortable in trusting her and the quality of dog you are going to get. We purchased Oakey at eight weeks and he is now a little over seven months and we could not be happier with him. Literally everywhere we go people compliment his looks (solid black and red). We started training him immediately and he catches on to everything very quickly as he is super eager to please. He is weary of strangers, but happy to greet them after we introduce them to him. He naturally has a lot of energy, but provided we do our job and exercise him appropriately he will relax and chew on his tennis ball ignoring all other things he could bite on in the room. I bought two GSD from Lisa and my experience was great! I have a black/red and a black/tan male and female dogs. She gave us a tour of the facility, and showed us the dogs parents. Lisa had all Vaccination, and AKC paperwork available and ready, so the transaction was clean, quick and with no issues. She spent time giving us tips and tricks on how to handle our puppies, and sold us a bag of food at a high discount rate. There was a time where Lisa and her family took care of one of the dogs, while we were traveling, for a daily rate that was half the cost of any other place. Lisa was happy to let us call to check on our dog. When the male dog went through his teenager face, we contacted her again for advice. She replied back within a day and even offered take the dog for a few days as well. After a few months she followed up with us on how things were. I bought a puppy from Lisa out of Tabo and Miley. The puppy has a genetic flaw in the form of undescended testicles verified by 3 different vets. Lisa was unwilling to abide by the contract and make good. We ended up in small claims court which I won , then on to appeal which I also won. Lisa has refused to acknowledge or abide by the judgement. She insists that she see the dog ( which I agreed to at my vet) which she refused. Her final defense was that I switched dogs. My experience with Lisa leads me to conclude that she is unethical at best, and if one should buy a puppy from her best of luck, because if you have a problem you will see another side of her and she will not take care of the situation. She actually resorted to having her son text me with insults from her phone, and threatened me with investigations from her "many client LEO's." Be forwarned. read more

When I went out to Oak Glen Kennels the litter of puppies Lisa was selling were not registered with the AKC. Many of the puppies she had were born with white booties (large areas of white on their paws which is a big no no and a sign of poor breeding). Many of her breeding dogs had sloped backs which means they are American Show line with frog legs, humped backs, poor confirmation that will lead to hip dysplasia and soft temperaments which make them useless for protection. Lisa stated that she breeds only for soft temperaments which is not what the breed is meant for. If you want a dog that will not protect you cause its an American bred dog and that is what Lisa specifically breeds for and is not show quality then these are the dogs for you. The confirmation on the dogs are horrible. The satellite dish ears are unsightly and so are some of the black faces with no markings. Lisa was very rude and arrogant when I spoke to her on the phone and after reading her remarks back to the customers and the copy of texts there is evidence of what you can expect from this backyard breeder with no customer service skills or knowledge of high quality German Shepherds. For the same price I was able to purchase a dog direct from Germany with 4 generations of titled dogs and my dog is extremely athletic, protective with correct confirmation ie. beautiful ears (no donkey ears), dark rich color, straight back, round paws. Please do your research on the breed standards listed on the AKC site. Do not buy a dog from Lisa or anyone else unless they have the AKC papers in hand. Do not spend this kind of money on a dog unless both parents are registered with the AKC and both parents are titled. Lisa is mean and I after my bad experience with her and reading the reviews about her horrible behavior I don't feel safe ever going around her again. If the dogs are sick please call animal control and get them the help they need. read more

Went to go to Lisa for training but didn't end up choosing her for unrelated reasons. They have a nice home and have been raising shepherds for quite some time so I imagine they know their stuff. Only thing I would say is it appeared the dogs there for boarding spent a lot of time in the kennels. I am so sad that the 9 week old puppy I got for my dad was diagnosed with having Parvo just 6 days after I purchased him. Lisa offered to take him back, but we were already attached to him and wanted to make sure he was cared for by a vet. The vet says he has an 80% chance to live. It is costing us up to $3000 for care by the vet. We are crossing our fingers that the little guy makes it! I can't say enough good things about Oak Glen Kennels and its owners! My husband, who is a combat veteran with PTSD, wanted a female German Shepard he could train as a service dog, so a friend recommended Oak Glen. I called and talked to Lisa, the owner and told her the type of dog we were looking for. She said she had the perfect puppy for my husband, and she was right! We have had our GS pup for about four months now and it was the best purchase we have ever made! She is the sweetest and most loving dog, and very well bred! We have had several comments from people about how calm she is for a pup! We even had a dog trainer at the house today and she was very impressed by how well mannered, sweet and calm our puppy is!
