Husband fell fracturing femur. The care he received was so fantastic. Every room was clean from the emergency room to his 6th floor room. From the nurses to transport staff were all caring and patient and prompt whether drawing blood or carrying him down for tests. I didn't meet any of his doctors except those at admitting- rounds are so early I would have had to dorms night in order to catch them. Only thing, and what hospital doesn't have complaints, was the food. They brought him roast beef one evening for dinner and we thought it was meatloaf! lol But the desserts were quite tasty. read more

We went to the ER because my 4-month-old daughter had a fever of 103.7. At first, the hospital experience was fine--until the physician came in. She questioned our decision to refuse vaccines and asked why. While I understand asking, it felt unnecessary given that she is not our pediatrician. She then attempted to lecture us, which my boyfriend quickly shut down. The two nurses we had were absolutely amazing. I truly wish I knew their names so I could recognize them properly. They answered every question with compassion and even shared what they personally would or wouldn't be comfortable with in our situation. One nurse discussed using a catheter and really tried to pressure us into one and we were very close to getting it done despite our hesitation. Unfortunately, after everything, our daughter was prescribed Tylenol and flu medication. When we went to CVS about 30 minutes later, we were told we couldn't get the Tylenol because it was prescribed as oral--even though we were told in the hospital she would receive suppository Tylenol due to vomiting and not being able to keep medication down. On top of that, the dosage written was completely incorrect and far too high. Overall, this was a terrible experience and we will not be returning. The lack of communication was the biggest issue. This was our first time dealing with our baby being sick, and it made an already stressful situation even worse. I am only giving this a two stars because those nurses... My father is currently hospitalized and does not speak English. From the beginning of his care, he clearly informed hospital staff that he did not require professional interpreter services, as he was accompanied by family members who speak English and were able to assist with communication. I fully understand--and agree--that professional interpreter services are essential when clinically complex or critical information is being communicated (such as informed consent, explanation of risks, or detailed medical instructions). However, that was not the situation here. The nurse used the interpreter only to ask basic administrative questions (such as my father's name and date of birth) and to inform him that she would be giving him an aspirin. These were simple interactions that were already being clearly communicated by family members present. Despite the patient's clearly expressed preference, on the 2nd floor of the South Tower, the nurse Cindy refused to allow family-assisted interpretation and imposed the use of a professional interpreter, without a documented or clinically justified reason. She also instructed other nurses and therapists to do the same. Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, hospitals are required to offer qualified interpreter services at no cost to patients with limited English proficiency. These regulations also recognize a patient's right to decline such services, as long as the patient can reasonably understand the information being communicated. Interpreter services are not intended to be imposed against a patient's expressed wishes when no clinical risk is present. What is especially concerning is that the nurse was making fun of my father in the hallway with a physical therapist, who then also insisted on using an interpreter at the nurse's recommendation. Mocking a hospitalized patient--particularly based on language or cultural factors--is unacceptable and a serious breach of professional standards. This experience was unnecessary, disrespectful, and deeply concerning. Interpreter services should be used appropriately to protect patient safety--not imposed for routine, non-critical interactions, and never accompanied by ridicule or dismissive behavior. I strongly urge the hospital to investigate this incident, review staff conduct on the 2nd floor South Tower, and ensure full respect for patient preferences, language-access regulations, and basic standards of dignity and professionalism. read more

After seeing my ob a week later they rushed me to the hospital since he could see my hospital records and had tested my proteins. Downloaded my reports generated by doctors who never saw me, except for a " first year intern on his first day and first hour" in the ER, complaining he had no idea what to do because he had no training or orientation. Two nurses shared their similar experiences. All three spoke in front of me while keeping me on a gurney-like bed in a little room as if I didn't exist. This 1st year intern was a wimpy male without experience but wrote things about me which were complete lies. The ER kept me against my will for 30 hours, medicating me with drugs I did not want or need to keep me knocked out. $$$$$$ At a minimum, they committed Medicare fraud, folks. Then they transferred me on an involuntary hold to the shit hole Springbrook. (Another review) I was aghast reading my so-called "chart". One RN said to me, "I don't understand why you are even here". Neither did I, but when I said,,"Then release me", she quietly said - "I can't. You've been Baker acted". She let me use her cell phone to call my husband. I'm a 76 y/o military veteran who has NEVER been treated as a psych patient or had medical personnel write so damned many lies - including stating my husband agreed with their psych hold on me. My God. Do they believe no one will expose them for what they are? I refused to speak to anyone so it appears from their documented reports they assumed I'm incapable of coherent thought processes and lack intelligence and lifetime experiences. Dumb on their part. Consider me their Secret Shopper from Hell. Can they spell, "Kidnapping", "Insurance Fraud", "False Imprisonment", "Medical Malpractice", "Abuse of Power", "Defamation", "Civil Rights Violations" and a host of other violations???? Not returning here if I can help it. Make sure you bring a patient advocate or healthcare professional with you if you have to be seen here. It appears healthcare has changed more than I thought and NOT for the better. This is one MAJOR reason I have returned to work for the military and now doing one-to-one nursing where I can provide the exceptional care I believe patients deserve 100% of the time... good days and bad. HCA certainly has NOT changed for the better and I can see why my niece (also an RN) advised against me working here per diem. My son was being seen here after an injury requiring stitches. Naturally, he was having some pain and didn't want to bother anyone. He was also cold, and didn't want to call for a blanket. I helped myself to some 4x4 gauze and elevated his arm to decrease further swelling and hopefully discomfort to the area. I looked in the cabinet and found two fitted sheets: one I rolled for the back of his head and another one to elevate his arm. Dangerous place to receive medical treatment. The Nurses spend MORE time behind their computer screens. Not 1 physician physically touched me in the ER, once admitted in agonizing pain I received ZERO pain mgmt. Days went on and ZERO docs touched me or even used a stethoscope. Absolutely misery, Day 5 two doctors that were properly trained decades ago, educated saw me, actually examined me & listened to my heart & lungs and KNEW 100% the problem after 250K worth of useless tests had been done on the wrong organs! I repeatedly mentioned Pancreatitis or Gallbladder (I get yearly images to monitor). They were given the answers, but FAIL to listen to the patient & talk over you 99% of the time. I was given meds on my Med Allergy List 3x, in Anaphylaxsis reactions to learn that they don't have ANY Albuterol Rescue Inhalers, at all, in the facility, nor understand Epinephrine or how to SAVE a patient in a life-threatening situation. Respiratory therapists stick the breathing apparatus in your mouth and NEVER return (except 2 did out of 20+ treatments) - so the O2 blows for HOURS and dries up your throat (still cannot speak 4 days later) due to damages. One rude RN came on shift and I never saw her for greater than 2.5 hrs, AFTER I brought to her attention loudly that they CANNOT ignore all of her other patients. She stood behind her computer for 2.5hrs & asked questions, conveyed mutual interests, jovial - the patient was NOT in any distress whatsoever. RN-BSN pompous dude refused to give me my meds I've been on for 24 yrs and when I questioned if he thought he was more intelligent than my Doc, w 47yrs experience and he smugly said "Yes" - I left AMA with Hospital Acquired Pneumonia BEFORE they killed me, literally. I have a HOT abdomen, a massively enlarged gallbladder, blocked bile ducts pushing out thru my rib-cage (URGENT situation) but my 02 reading was below 80%. I called Ombudsman 3x to no avail. I met with Nurse Mgr & "docs" 3x and was promised ALL would be rectified; within the hour ANOTHER medical mistake. Don't go there and don't take anyone you love there, unless you're prepared to spend 24/7 watching over, asking questions, making sure you get even water. I didn't even get meal trays on Day 8 (liquid only but still). I've never been SO close to Death so many times, but being OUT is safer. SLEEP is NON-existent as I never got more than 2 hrs/sleep per night. Later figured out, the pain meds I have taken for 25 yrs had been reduced by nearly 70% - pure lack of MME knowledge imposed by the CDC in 2015; yet I have a HOT abdomen and was in the worst pain imaginable. I tried to leave AMA, signed their paper as they threatened me & my husband and proceeded to BLOCK the elevators & staff surround me; physically restraining me to put on a mask (when I have LESS than 80% Oxygen intake already and gasping for air = impeding my air flow worse! TRULY a frightening experience, I had Angels watch over me and shouldn't be alive to write this. As I get over the Pneumonia I got while there (100% positive) at home I pray that my gut doesn't become gangrenous & YES, I still have the horrific, agonizing pain that took me there initially. I asked EVERY single staff member how long they had been working there, found 1 5-year and 1 10-year employee; the rest were newbies, from agencies, "floaters" and most "nurses" were pushed thru Nursing Training/School during COVID and tossed into the real world, with life & death consequences handling real, live patients in crisis mode and it IS evident. Only 2 employees with any tiny tenure~ they have to hire out w/agency help due to Low Pay & morale (so I was told begrudgingly to those who are employees) so they pay agency workers twice the $$ rather than train & pay fair wages to retain qualified, competent staff. That causes ZERO consistency w/staffing & those who may KNOW about your particular case/care & needs. Human Resources and proper training no doubt HAS & WILL kill and injure more and more sick patients at this place. Limited cleaning staff so I watched Nurses pull full trash bags & haul it out of room (sterile?) When I did eat there initially, I recd only 1 tray that was correct as ordered. Roommate was blind & deaf and I cut up her food, fed her, took care of her 90% of the time. They are truly incompetent & now became a teaching hospital = Dangerous!! Drive 10 min further, go to Urgi-Care, go to Tampa, Gainesville, Veterinarian or anywhere else = NEVER HERE! NOW they have blocked me access to all of MY patient records online, no doubt to scrub the electronic trail of all their mistakes and they were endless... Computer users w/o brains & independent thinkers are the Death Nail to competent medical care. They have LPN's as charge nurses, copious amounts of under-trained Home Health Aides from Nursing Homes w/minimal education why not Fast Food Workers or Cashiers, they couldn't be worse. read more

Oak Hill hospital is a very good hospital in my opinion. Even though it's a distance from our home, we travel l there because we trust the hospital staff to give us the best care possible. My husband was having some chest pain a while ago and I took him to the Emergency Room to get checked out. Their check in procedure was easy to do and he was admitted to the examination room in a short period of time. The staff was friendly and professional. He received an thorough examination and had several different tests including blood tests to determine his diagnosis. We were told to wait in the waiting room until the initial assessment was completed so they could focus their attention on my husband. The waiting room was clean and had a couple of vending machines for drinks and snacks. Their restroom was clean and easily accessible to accommodate the impaired and family friendly for those who have little ones. I was a patient there for an illness prior to this episode and I was impressed with their care treated very well during my hospital recovery. Their food was pretty decent and best of all on the first flood of the adjoining medical plaza they have a Subway so when I was allowed a normal diet without restrictions my family would bring me either a Subway sandwich or a bowl of their soup!! I had a good experience and hope that anyone who has to be examined or admitted to the hospital has the same positive experience that I did! read more

I received great care at HCA Oak Hill Hospital while I was there for 3 1/2 days the end of August. I had a private room with a shower which I was able to use before I was discharged. Hospital stays are never fun & generally considered rather painful much of the time depending what you are there for but the nurses working on 6 south were wonderful and very efficient even though I believe they work short-staffed. They really need to hire a dietitian for meal planning though they didn't have any type of a bland diet for people with stomach issues while I was there. Other than their clear liquids, their food was like restaurant food, too spicy for someone with a burnt mouth & esophagus (24 hours of vomiting will do that when you're too stubborn to go to the ER). Thank you so much to the 6 South nurses and all my doctors for the excellent care I received, especially nurse Courtney RN and Dr Eid & the female doctor working with him. My 92 year old mother was admitted for a 3 night stay (8/10/23-8/13/23) to HCA Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida. Upon discharge, we had the option of either putting her in Hospice care or a rehab facility. After several reassurances from the case manager that Medicare will be paying for the rehab, we opted to put her in Oak Hill Health and Rehab in Brooksville. My mom stayed in rehab for about 2 months then was admitted to hospice care. Months later, much to our surprise, we received a bill from Oak Hill Health and Rehab for ~$20,000. On 3/5/24 we received a call from Haley from Oak Hill Health and Rehab business department, stating that Medicare denied the claim because the hospital had designated the first night as "observation" and therefore it did not count as a hospital night stay. Since the original documentation they received from the hospital, before my mom was admitted, stated a 3 night stay, she told us the hospital only had to amend the word observation and Medicare would pay. I had asked multiple times when my mother was admitted if everything was in order for Medicare to cover it, and they said yes. It is the obligation of both the hospital and the rehab facility to advocate for patient rights and be transparent with billing, yet we were led to believe this would be covered in full by Medicare. Now, they are expecting us to pay ~$20,000 out of pocket that we do not have. After months of phone calls to multiple people and departments in both facilities, including Ronda from HCA Oak Hill Hospital case management department, nothing was resolved. We called both the hospital and rehab trying to speak to the people we have been communicating with about this matter, but they no longer work there, including Haley. Unfortunately, I am now back to square one, leaving messages with new people and getting no response. Sadly, I cannot recommend this facility and would urge you to find another for you or your loved one's care. I have tried since February to settle this privately and it hasn't worked. So unfortunately, now I have to make my story public. read more

I just returned to Florida and was admitted for observation on Tuesday around noon Nov 5th 2024. This was the worst experience of my life. I don't know what happened to the hospital since I left in Jan 2024. I can tell you I was given no food except for a dry sandwich on Tuesday around 11 pm. nothing to eat until my discharge wed around 3 pm. Nothing to drink at all. When I tried to get up to use the bathroom be alarm would go off. I asked to have this removed but nurse said doctor ordered it. I have never been a fall risk my whole life, so where this came from was a mystery. Then In trying to pea in a pea bottle the bottle spilled and pea ran all over my bed and pjs. I got up to try and clean up bed and was yelled at numerous times. In the morning around 5am I asked to take a shower because of the pea and was told NO, Ask doctor Then when I asked where my phone was I was told by nurse that she didn't know. I said my girlfriend wouldn't leave me without a phone and nurse told me she didn't have it. So to sum up my experience it was terrible, I went to security upon leaving and the next day NO PHONE that phone I bought for $800.00 in June 2024 and have since ordered 2 more as I need them to stay in touch with businesses I own in Michigan. I can't be without a phone. I told I think what I thought a head nurse that I was scheduled to have a 100k surgery in Dec or Jan depending on when my doctor recovered (he was in auto accident) Dr Rivera I told nurse that If this was the hospitals new Policys I might choose to not have surgery at this hospital, her response was (we really don't care ) Well I don't want to do business with any company that treats its patients like this. Their renovations at the ER are ridiculous and do not follow HIPPA compliance. The RN had the nerve to ask why I felt today the health of the gentleman I brought was an emergency. Are you kidding me? The guy is delirious and hasn't left his room in weeks. Truly horrible experience. The dr never called his regular physician but I did. They were going to admit him but no test results proved he had a physical problem. Had they done their job, they would have known he'd seen his dr this week and there was a plan in place for evaluation. They gave him fluids and an antibiotic before the labs were back. This place needs to learn how to handle patients with dementia better. They try to sedate these patients so they don't have to deal with them, they never inform the family that they are going to sedate them. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my client who i work with at their home and kept telling us to wait for blood work results. 5 days go by and now its the weekend and nobody's around. She was there for absolutely nothing. They held her hostage and her sick husband who is 88 had to call and give consent for her to be released. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH HER! It was day 6 when i took her back home. She was very depressed and the days I visited her there was some people ringing their call lights for help and not one person ran over to help them. I would like to add how my client has bad dementia and she was set off!! They all have attitude problems!! Even the head nurse had to have a talk with these nurses about their attitude torwards her when I brought it up to him. People that were there kept walking by like she was some sort of freak show! Absolutely disgusting. I want to thank Nurse Yamina for getting her out because she is absolutely happy and back to normal. I will never leave any of my loved ones there in their care ever! Worse hospital around.i have been there many times they tell me they don't know what is wrong but take this medicine I just got out of there today and let me tell you I am never going back my potassium is low this has been going on for a while awhile er says I need to see a kidney doctor they kept me gave me potassium IV and pills and what do you know potassium is low again today they never called a kidney doctor senthome and said for me to call one they sent me home with my potassium low I also had a TIA from that I am going to Tampa at least they know what they are doing they haven't found out anything that is going on with me and the treatment in the hospital isn't that great they just send me home to come back again never going back read more

So to say this hospital hasbeen very good to me would be a understatement! To tell you a litte about myself. 56 yr old male. In 2018 i had awoke to find myself looking yellow (jaundice) and this had happned when i lived in Connecticut. Transported to Yale hospital where i was in full liver failure and was given 3 to 6 months to live and numerous medical issues since that day im still here. So for 4 or more years Yale school of medicine left me with 3 hernias, uncontrollable diabetes, hearing loss,terrible visin. And more things caused by the liver failure wich was not thier fault but what is thier fault is dragging me back and forth to thier hospitals, specialists dentists etcetera and never fixing any hernia,gall blatter full of stones,water retention and other things. So now in 2022 i was divorced and ended up her in late september. Three months here had the hernias fixed,hopefully thay can get that gall bladder out as im here at oak hill hospital and writing this review. Id have to say this is one of the best hospitals that i have experienced in the past 5 years and ive been in many so if your going to complain about the cleanliness,service,or to imply that someone entered this hospital in good shape and then all of a sudden died because of someone who works here and thier religious prefferance than your probably just a person who complains about everything, and thinks that when you come that your the only one hereand everyone shoud just tend to you. As far as someone dying. Apparently they had come to the hospital as they weren't feeling well. This is life and up till now am very happy with this hospital,is it spotless,maybe not at times. Walk into other hospitals on a very busy weekend and tell me what it looks like. There's no doubt this is a older hospital thats why they r building a new one behind this one. Oak Hill Hospital - Hospitals Near Me - Brooksville, Florida

I was not impressed by the quality of care I received when walking in the ER. Paramedic and girl at desk are holding a conversation and I'm standing in front of them for 2 min I feel like before being acknowledged. They had poor communication, I sat there waiting to get a a CT scan, on their screen it said I had been seen in which I had not. I had to advocate for myself and ask for them to see me. The one girl she was a Paramedic she blew out my vein trying to put in an IV. They are not focused on patient care. She blamed it on me not being elderly and having thicker skin. She looked like she never had put one in before. After 4 times being poked at they for it in but caused intense bruising. I have never had issues with blood work. I understand being dehydrated etc has implications but I was fine. They left me with all their failed blood draws needles in my arm giving me discomfort . I had to beg to have it removed. Coming from Pinellas county where baycare is one of the best, i hope I never have to come back to this hospital. Will drive 30-40 min to trinity to utilize their care. Never going to recommend this place to anyone. read more

The only reason i gave 2 stars is because the operators are miserable!!! Every time i call i get this tone as if im bothering them. honeys if you dont like your job, step aside and i will be glad to do your job with a smile on my face. people call because their loved ones are admitted for some health reason. the last thing i want to hear is some miserable b**** with a f****** attitude. read more
