This was my first time attending a concert at this venue and I loved it! I was a little taken aback by the parking situation. What in the what? $50 to park in the parking lot of the venue! That's ridiculous. The general parking off of the venue grounds was reasonable $10. There's a longer walk with a bridge connecting the off site parking to the venue. Not too bad if you're accustomed to walking. Large purses, coolers and bags are not authorized. Clear purses and bags are encouraged. This venue does not have a bad seat! There are plenty of options for snacks, drinks and cocktails. Everywhere you look, you see beverage and snack windows open to make purchases. The best sound system ever!! The stage could be seen from all angles along with the big screens made the experience nice for everyone! I can't wait to go back for another concert!!! read more

I thought this was a great venue. Parking was a little expensive. $50 for premium! $25 for basically the rest of it. They had a lot of cocktail stands, but not enough food stands or options other than alcohol. The sound obviously carried well. It was easy to find too. I'd definitely come here again. This was my first concert at the Oak Mtn Amphitheater. We saw TLC, En Vogue, Sean Kingston, and Shaggy. It was a great time, especially for the price ($25 concert week ticket) We did preferred parking for $30 to be closer the venue and not have to walk. The food was reasonably priced ex: $5 fries. The drinks were a bit expensive ex: $17 beer, but that is to be expected at a concert. Overall my fiend and I had a good concert experience that was close to home! read more

This is easily one of my favorite concert venues. It's outdoors which separates it apart from most of the other concert venues in Birmingham. The closest one you have that is similar is the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. I've seen Kings of Leon, 30 Seconds to Mars, Cole Swindell, Luke Bryan, and etc. here, but they have all types of performers that come. Tickets prices can be high (100 level), medium (200 level), or lower (300 level) and in my experience certain sections sell out pretty fast. Food and drinks can cost about an arm and a leg here. Chicken fingers for $13, drinks from $12 for a single shot to $25 for a large drink. Parking here can be a nightmare too if you aren't early. Last time I came here, even the paid parking was full. I see plenty of buildings and businesses nearby charge from $10-25 for using their parking spaces. Luke Bryan was here so of course it was full. He is such a perfect human being. read more

We got here an hour andba half before the show. Doobie Brothers 50th Anniversary Tour. Be prepared to pay to park. Premier Parking will cost you Fifty Dollars. Further back in the parking lot will cost you $25. My wife is disabled so we had to go to the Premier side where the handicapped parking was located. $50 Please. 45 minutes into our wait for the gates to open I had to go to the bathroom. No portajohns. Had to hold it for another 45 minutes until I got in the venue. Every try to hold a pee whilst drinking the adult beverages? I am sure there will be more to review later. read more

Good acoustics. Good venue. The problem lies with everything else, namely the exorbitant cost for everything. It's almost as if their corporate motto is "Stick 'em up." $17 for a beer? Are you kidding me? A martini at Highlands Bar and Grill costs less. $40 for parking? That's highway robbery. Oh, and another thing. When the concert is going on, keep the guys hawking beers out of the audience. Seriously. We're here to listen to music, not some guy shouting "Ice cold beer and White Claw!" at the top of his lungs. Before attending a Dave Matthews Band concert here in 2019, I was last at Oak Mountain Amphitheater for a Styx concert (don't judge) in 2008. I'm happy to say it's improved significantly since that last visit. First, chairs! Actual individually-assigned seats with armrests and a back! Last time I was here it was those terrible metal benches you are typically subjected to at stadiums. Even though I stood all night for DMB, the chair was nice for the pre-show wait. Second, food and drink options. They have a dedicated craft beer bar featuring some local brewers, with a really diverse selection. Impressive! Tasty! For food, they had a local food truck parked inside the gate from which I procured a delicious cheesesteak sandwich. Far better than your typical crap venue vendor food you see, which is also available here from the fixed food stalls. On the disappointing end, the stage could still use some modernization. DMB made some use of the pixelated screens behind the stage, but this visual aspect is clearly showing its age. Time for a change. All said, not a bad place to catch a good show, and improving over the years. read more

The parking in this area is rough and definitely competitive. I came here to see the foo fighters, and we got a rain delay, and the lines to get in after the delay were RIDICULOUS! Just saw the Foo Fighters here. The actual venue once inside was nice enough and the Foo Fighters were awesome as always. Getting into the place, however, was a complete sh!tshow. ZERO organization. Concert was delayed due to rain, so there was a large crowd trying to gain entry when we found out the show was not cancelled. Security guards did not assist with entry to the venue or line control in any way. People were milling about, making their own lines to get to the front and sent to the back of some other line. Took over an hour to get in venue. Missed opening act. Management: Get better security and protocols for entry. read more

Great sound quality and nice stage setup, but the seats are WAY too close to each other. The seats are barely big enough for a normal size person. I can't imagine a larger person sitting in them. I don't like being crammed up between people. When I'm at a concert I like some room to move around when I get into the music. I wouldn't really want to go back to this venue without having a seat at the end of a row so I would at least have a little bit of space. Also, I wish they would get a better selection of music artists. Sometimes good bands come, but it's usually just old bands that I listened to in high school. read more

This is a nice outdoor amphitheater, plenty of concession stands with a ton of alcohol. The seats are ok, a bit dated and sun bleached but still do the job. The incline is also not so steep that you can have a couple of drinks and actually walk up and down. The sound is pretty decent at the concert we went too, but as with our luck storms ran through. We waited it out for 30 minutes but figured it would rain for a good while. The policy here is the concert will resume 30 minutes after the last week thunder/lightning... we did not chance it so we left... now the reason this place only gets 4 stars is it has a no re-entry policy.... so if you leave you will not be permitted back in.... all in all I would watch another concert at this venue, just hope for better weather next time... read more

I recently visited this venue for a Cage the Elephant Beck concert and feel this venue has stood the test of time since my last visit in the mid 90s. The staff were amazing from the entry to the concessions. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The restrooms were clean and easy to access from both sides. Drinks and food are pricey, but comparable to other venue prices. $13+ for a beer I wanted to note, none of the seating is covered, however, there is no bad seat in the house. Parking is between $20 and $40 for VIP in the front lots. However, if you go around to the back entry lot B it's free parking! read more

The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because it's a outside concert... like you sweat like no tomorrow and then some. They only hove about 3 tiers and one row of boxes. We sat in tier 203 great views of the stage. There are two jumbo screens that you can watch on if you're to far away. Seating is hard plastic movie theater chairs... if you're sticky hot good chance you will be sticking to your neighbor. They allow any kind of purses/bags they are going to look in it. You can bring in water in the unopened container less than 20 Oz. Beer can be bought either draft or can. We opted for those jumbo cans and they were $12 ... depending on what beer you get it could be $14 instead. Great experience. If you have a fan either a paper fan, church fan, or Japanese fan bring it you will need it!!! read more

My GF and I had the pleasure of witnessing a Phish-band concert here from the FRONT ROW. It was simply a lovely experience. Aside from being in the front row, which has a surreal feel to it... We had a "special entracne" to get into the venue... (no line) Once in the venue we basically had a VIP area for concessions, bathrooms, etc... again no line And at the FRONT ROW they treated it they way they should... It was only open to people with tickets for the front row. The security did a terriffic job keeping riff raff and stage rushers out... I had so much room it was unbeliveable... I never got contacted by anyone (walking by / bumping into... common at concerts) the entire time. So I give big ups to the security folks and they way Oak Mountain runs their operation. After attending a few events here it's time to get the review written. Access: This place can be kind of a nightmare to get into if you push it close to event start time. They have plenty of parking but the main street(s) into both parking areas really aren't designed to handle the flow of traffic for large events. Don't get me wrong it's far from a deal breaker and it's not a large enough venue that this should prevent you from coming to an event. More of a plan accordingly to make sure you don't miss the start of the show. Tip: take highway 31 into the venue instead of I65. Most people wait it out on 65 as opposed to coming in the other way. Pretty quick access....just don't tell anyone I don't want it too get overly crowded too. Well marked where you need to go for access to the event. They have security wands that they run over you to make sure you aren't taking items in that shouldn't go in. Once you're they don't allow re-entry (not uncommon for a place like this). When you first walk in they have some food trucks set up as well as local breweries and a beer garden. The breweries were nice and offered samples so you could decide what you wanted. They also had some local distillery making mixed drinks. Prices were expensive, but for a concert venue they weren't outrageous. (24 oz beer was $12). Also, located in this area is a large merchandise booth that has shirts, hats and other band related souvenirs for the event. I am kind of guessing that the prices for these items are set by the band, but again in line with other venues I've been to. Seating is really very good. Three main tiers with a small section of VIP between section 1 and 2. The seats really feel close to the stage and make you really feel like you're a part of the event. Sound system is really good as well and didn't have any issues through out the night. Lighting was also well done and added to the show. Everywhere staff was encountered they were nice and helpful. They did a great job of ensuring safety for fans as well as artists. Very professional staff. Also, there is another set up similar to the food, beer and merchandise (at the front when you first walked in) on the other side of the venue. Restrooms located in both areas were spacious and clean and never a wait (huge plus). Overall this venue is a great place to catch an event. Really enough can't be said for how simple it is to get into this place and figure out where you need to be going. There can be some after work/pre event traffic to deal with, but it really isn't an worse than any other venue. Wouldn't hesitate to return for concerts (or other events) in the future. read more

This seemed to me to be a very cool venue. It's an outdoor amphitheater. It had very cool food and drink options inside the venue. I have been to a couple other amphitheater's and I believe this one to be one of the cooler ones Iv been to. I love the fact that it's individual seats with a back as opposed to most outdoor spots utilize metal benches. Of course every concert the beers are 10-14 bucks and mixed drinks are 10-20 depending on what you get. It's insane ....but it's like that at every concert. The sound was really good and with the mountains in the backdrop....kind of cool! We parked for free in a strip of grass just in front of the 20 and 40 dollar parking lots. Not that bad of a walk at all and seemed many others did the same. So didn't cost us anything to park...but might utilize Uber in the future.... read more

Last Friday we had tickets to see Hootie & the Blowfish and two opening bands at Oak Mountain amphitheater. Although we planned for and arrived in the vicinity of the facility an hour and a half before the show began, traffic was not managed at all thus delaying our arrival. Due to the incompetence of the venue, parking was ridiculous. We were told to park in lot A but when got there, was told no parking available. Asking where we could go, was told the other lot was full, and they basically shrugged their shoulders and said good luck.because of this, we missed the first act and over half of the second act. When I try to call to complain, all phone numbers are no longer in service and they do not list an email anywhere that I can send my concerns. We never want to return to this facility, and believe that some sort of compensation is in order. But they make it impossible to register such complaints. I would give them zero stars or negative stars if possible! read more

Jubilee Joe's Crawfish Boil was the catch of the day at the Oak Mt. Amphitheatre! Parking was widely available due to modest people in attendance, but the venue was perfect for such an event. There were multiple shelters for VIP and general admission. The stage for bands allowed for great performance and sound with tabletops throughout. I'll certainly return for other events. I finally spent an evening at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre last Friday. I went to the Matchbox Twenty, Goo Goo Dolls, and Kate Earl show with my sister. The first thing that struck me was the size of the amphitheater - it's not overwhelming big for my taste and venue experience. I'm from Chicago originally and I've spent plenty of time living or visiting San Francisco, Oakland, Atlanta, Memphis, and Nashville where I attended plenty of concerts at oversized amphitheaters/venues that lack the personal touch and accessibility that small venues afford concertgoers. Oak Mountain Amphitheatre is just the right size. I had center seat tickets in the upper section and had an amazing panoramic view of the entire show! In addition, the amphitheater has just the right amount of food vendors, drink stations, beer bars, and restrooms on each side of the venue. I made about three separate trips to travel to one of the following places during the duration of the show: food, drink/beer stations (Okay, I made a couple stops here...), and restrooms and never spent more than about 3-8 minutes in line. This is a far cry from the standard 15-30 (or more) minutes that I'm accustomed to spending whenever I am in Atlanta, Duluth, GA, San Francisco, Memphis, etc. The concert seats were full but the venue had an excellent handle on delivering efficient and timely service during the concert. Overall, I had an amazing experience, enjoyed the Matchbox Twenty, Goo Goo Dolls, and Kate Earl show, and I look forward to my next concert at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre! read more

The parking spaces were difficult to understand and the way they were charging to park was a rip off. I was told it was $20 for preferred Parking and $40 for VIP which was closer to entrance by one lane and first to exit at the end of concert. I paid $20 since it was one lane difference and wouldn't be in a rush to leave I just didn't wanna lose my car with my children with me. The attendant guided me to park in the $40 area anyway and didn't listen when I tried to ask questions about it so I hushed. But had the people who paid the $40 was ripped off. The lines going in had no real order except for whether or not you had a bag to be searched. So standing in line 2 hours prior meant nothing because people were able to just walk up and jump you. Once tickets were scanned it got worse bcus we were all just bunched together in a small space along with the concessions line and it was hot as hell. Once to our seats it was better until the concert started and the girls behind us got way to drunk and spilled numerous beers on me and my kids and the woman her her child next to us. Our seats also were drenched when we were standing. If I hadn't as a mom grabbed napkins from the bathroom we wouldn't been screwed. I only grabbed them because we expected Rain. We left smelling like a 6 pack of beer. There should be a way to limit consumption or something. How was I suppose to explain this experience to my kids. They were over the moon to see Chris Brown but smelled like alcoholics by the end. Talk about overshadowed my daughters sweet 16 birthday gift. Get to my car easily. Great. Wasn't able to get out no quicker than the people who paid $40 or $20 or who parked free on the curbs. Smh. Enjoyed the concert but can't say I'd fly back to attend another event here. read more

Rescheduled four months later.. Wow!!! You get one Birthday each year,right? This year was a surprise from my wife to attend a concert and see one of my FAV artist. Of course, H.E.R. !!! I am highly DISAPPOINTED with the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre and Staff's customers service. "I MISSED H.E.R's performance" This was my 1st visit to this location. However, there was a turn of EVENTs this day. Reminder to self: Never go to a concession if you do not want spend about a hour waiting....... I went to the concession to buy a beverage and was charged twice. The employee ask me to step aside while she took other customer's orders(not too many there). To my surprise, she never called me back up to explain the refund policy. I gain her attention to see what was the next step. She ask me to wait again, it took about "45min to 1hour." I spoke to her manager. The Manager promised me a refund until Monday. She then ask for my personal card information. She writes it on a plain sheet of note paper (NOT COOL). "Nothing came on Monday" and I'm worried for my personal information. Morale of story to myself: Don't go BACK! read more

Great venue. We just saw Motley Crue in concert. I bought the obstructed view seats right smack in the middle of the arena. There was a pretty big sound booth covering that was obstructing my view, but if I stood up on my feet, I could see the entire stage and everything. If I had to buy tickets again, I would probably not buy obstructed view seats but it did not really affect our good times! If obstructed view seats were the last seats available then I would buy them. Also, the obstruction really wasn't as big a deal to me as much as the visible stream of people walking back and forth in front of you. The obstructed view seats have you positioned right in front of a major flow lane of where people go to bathrooms and concession stands so that was the real obstruction was the never-ending stream of people walking back and forth all night. But we still had a great time. About a year ago, I saw DMB in concert, I sat in the 100's which is in the front section of the area. Actually, I hated those seats. I had some dumb kid stand right in front of me on a chair, so my view was ruined. So, this time I bought the obstructed view seats and actually liked them better than the expensive 100 seats. Plus with the higher seats you can catch a pretty sweet view of the sky line and it's a great view when the sun is going down. We accessed the general parking lot (free) via 119. The entrance was right by Holiday Inn on Highway 119. Free parking and there didn't seem to be any cops or security cracking down on the whole "no alcohol" rule. Oak mountain amphitheater website says in bold letters "no alcohol is permitted,etc..." but there was plenty of good ole boys cracking' cold ones right in broad daylight and nobody stopped them. We put our alcohol in cups so you couldn't tell what we were drinking, but it was not necessary. There seemed to be a good amount of tailgating going on. You can always booze it up at one of the restaurants nearby and walk to the concert, it's not far at all. There's a hooters, applebees, and a mexican restaurant within walking distance to the area. Beers can cost between $9 and $13 each. It makes no sense to buy the cheaper beers when you can spend an extra 2 or 3 bucks and have the 20 oz beers. Beer was pretty generic (Bud, Bud light, Yuengling, Shock Top). I did see an IPA on the menu too. There's plenty of food options (overpriced) as well. At the entrance, security did give me a pat down, but they barely even did anything to my wife. They told me to lift my shirt up, and then they checked my pockets (I think for a weapon). They also had me lift up my hat to reveal my bald head, but again I think they were checking for people bringing in drinks/food or weapons. Years ago there was a huge drug bust at Widespread panic concert at Oak Mountain, but there didn't seem to be any kind of activity like that going on when we arrived. I will say that one time I parked in the VIP parking lot and the pat down was a little more intense as opposed to the general parking pat down. Unless you're a die hard fan of whoever it is that you're planning on seeing at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, I would definitely leave BEFORE the very end of the concert. Exiting the concert is as expected : crowded, people getting fussy and impatient, and it just downright takes a long time to get out of there. So, if you can leave at the very beginning of the last song, you'll be happier. Trust me. However if you stay to the end, I wouldn't leave my seat for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Just watch the crowd attempt to leave. They don't move much and you can just chill until the crowd dissipates. Motley Crue and Alice Cooper were just good fun. They're older and at this point have nothing to lose so they just put on a really great show. Oak Mountain Amphitheatre is my absolute favorite concert venue, by far. It's beautiful and the outdoor concerts always seem to be the best to me. Also, the fans were a lot nicer at the Motley Crue show than the DMB show. I found the fans at the DMB concert to be annoying because they all knew every lyric to every song and felt the need to sing every single word. read more

GOD OF THUNDER!! AND ROCK-AND-ROLLOLL!! YES YELPIES! I got to see KISS in concert with Motley Crue at this unexpectedly great venue! Small enough but yet big enough. Thought it was going to be rained out but the staff really pulled it together and put folks on shuttle buses and got us to the stadium without a hitch. Great venue! What a surprise to score some tickets here for this show!! Kiss and Motley Crue and my boy got to see his first REAL concert before he goes back to school. What a great experience on a beautiful night under a full moon listening to some great rock-n-roll and a couple of bands that I grew up listening to their music. The Birmingham tribe of rockers are a pretty good bunch of folks. I always have a good time in this city! My only complaint was the ten dollar frikkin' 16 ounce beers. Y'all are really trying to hurt a guy with that ...but what the hell! Got T-shirts too for me and the boy. Holy shit! Those damn things are expensive too at 40 bucks a pop! All in all it was a fantastic time and I highly recommend this venue for any concert. Clean facilities and pretty good seating. I could have used a bit more leg room but I really can't find too much to complain about here. I WA NNA ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT AND PARTY EVERYDAY!!!.... and ya know?! I've grown up with Oak Mountain and have a ton of great memories. In the 80's and 90's there was little competition, so the amphitheater hosted most of the big shows coming through town. Now there are other options, so the frequency of big, current names has gone down. With all that said, it's as good a venue today as it ever was. Sound has always been good here and the facilities never seem to age. The lower and more centered you can get the better, but there's not a terrible seat in the house. The upper deck used to be a beautiful green lawn, but it was taken out after one too many fights at the annual Skynard show. Now if we can just get Tesla and Firehouse to come back through town. read more

I work as a merchandiser of bands and have been in uncountable amphitheaters, arenas, stadiums or theaters in North America. This bathroom is just plain nasty! No paper to dry hands, half the stalls have no locks anymore or they are broken. The toilets clog bad 50% are during a show! Time for an update guys for real!!! read more

I went to Matchbox 20 here. Overall, it's a pretty good venue. Acoustics were great, seats and aisles were spacious. So why the 3 stairs? First, it's an outdoor venue in an area that gets rain with literally zero covered seats. Thankfully the rain let up (Counting Crows took about an hour rain delay). If it hadn't, everyone from the nosebleeds to the $1,000+ front rows would.have been soaked. Also, while the parking isn't horrible, I'm not sure whose bright idea it was to have essentially one road in and out. It's a giant bottleneck getting out. read more

Summer always seems to find me attending a handful of concerts at Oak Mountain. Love a good show in great weather in this venue. Drink tip--tailgate before the show because drinks are pricey (there's even a gas station right behind the amphitheater where you can buy your supplies). Once inside the amphitheater, get more bang for your buck by walking over to the large beer concession stand (the one on the right just past the main entrance gates). There you can get a 24 oz draft for $9.75 (at least that was the price at last night's Miranda Lambert show). A much better deal than staying in your seat and paying $9 (plus tip to beerman) for a 16 oz can. read more

Out of all the concerts I have been to, this one is the best!!! I have seen many different artists from different genres here and it's just so convenient and easy to get around. Unlike some concert venues where you can get lost as hell, this one is quiet simple. One main way in and out. Watch out for Pelham Police though. They are out to get you for anything out there. Lol. I have seen at many shows that after everyone goes in for the concert they bring out their k9 and make rounds on all the cars and then mark them for when you get ready to leave....so just beware ;) read more

This is one of my all time favorite concert venues. I've loved the place ever since my first show there which was back in 1999, I think. Beaner and Ken's birthday bash. Since then, I've been to several more events including several X-fests, Pearl Jam, DMB twice, Tom Petty, Tim McGraw, and Coldplay. Every seat in the house is great. The staff working the shows are usually pretty helpful. My one complaint is the drinks seem a little high, but they are 24 ounces. Also, they have craft beers. read more

Had a blast last night. Snoop Dog, Wiz Kalif and Kevin Gates all gave us an excellent show. Was a little concerned with the state of the country right now. But Birmingham set a good example for the rest of the country. Good atmosphere. read more

Oak mountain is the best outdoor concert venue in the area. Spacious and easy to find parking. Giant screens help the nosebleeds to see you close. My only complaint is the acts that come. Need a much better selection of actz read more

Here for a concert, brought my clutch instead of my mammoth purse, got to the gate only to be turned away for bringing a purse. A clutch, a purse the length of two hands not allowed? A purse only large enough to hold my cell phone and chaptsick is not allowed? Here go the tampons in my jeans pockets. Thanks now everyone knows. Will not be back to this venue. Saw Why Don't We here in August and it was the best night of my life. The staff was really nice and chill. Seats were super nice. The only thing was that we waited in line outside forever for the meet and great but I don't think it was the venue's fault. Bathrooms could also be improved but overall it was amazing and I will be coming back. read more
