This is easily one of my favorite concert venues. It's outdoors which separates it apart from most of the other concert venues in Birmingham. The closest one you have that is similar is the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. I've seen Kings of Leon, 30 Seconds to Mars, Cole Swindell, Luke Bryan, and etc. here, but they have all types of performers that come. Tickets prices can be high (100 level), medium (200 level), or lower (300 level) and in my experience certain sections sell out pretty fast. Food and drinks can cost about an arm and a leg here. Chicken fingers for $13, drinks from $12 for a single shot to $25 for a large drink. Parking here can be a nightmare too if you aren't early. Last time I came here, even the paid parking was full. I see plenty of buildings and businesses nearby charge from $10-25 for using their parking spaces. Luke Bryan was here so of course it was full. He is such a perfect human being.

    $14.25 for 25oz.

This is a great venue. Especially like the t-mobile quick check in. We will be attending more events hopefully in the new year.

We got here an hour andba half before the show. Doobie Brothers 50th Anniversary Tour. Be prepared to pay to park. Premier Parking will cost you Fifty Dollars. Further back in the parking lot will cost you $25. My wife is disabled so we had to go to the Premier side where the handicapped parking was located. $50 Please. 45 minutes into our wait for the gates to open I had to go to the bathroom. No portajohns. Had to hold it for another 45 minutes until I got in the venue. Every try to hold a pee whilst drinking the adult beverages? I am sure there will be more to review later.

What concert venue sets up portable flood lights to the left and right of the stage and shines them into the crowd??? Very annoying and difficult to watch the band with a bright light pointed your way!

I recently visited this venue for a Cage the Elephant Beck concert and feel this venue has stood the test of time since my last visit in the mid 90s. The staff were amazing from the entry to the concessions. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The restrooms were clean and easy to access from both sides. Drinks and food are pricey, but comparable to other venue prices. $13+ for a beer I wanted to note, none of the seating is covered, however, there is no bad seat in the house. Parking is between $20 and $40 for VIP in the front lots. However, if you go around to the back entry lot B it's free parking!

My GF and I had the pleasure of witnessing a Phish-band concert here from the FRONT ROW. It was simply a lovely experience. Aside from being in the front row, which has a surreal feel to it... We had a "special entracne" to get into the venue... (no line) Once in the venue we basically had a VIP area for concessions, bathrooms, etc... again no line And at the FRONT ROW they treated it they way they should... It was only open to people with tickets for the front row. The security did a terriffic job keeping riff raff and stage rushers out... I had so much room it was unbeliveable... I never got contacted by anyone (walking by / bumping into... common at concerts) the entire time. So I give big ups to the security folks and they way Oak Mountain runs their operation. No signs of Lope G either This review is somewhat biased based on the above. Outside of this, it seemed like a really cool venue, location, history, all that stuff. bb..

This seemed to me to be a very cool venue. It's an outdoor amphitheater. It had very cool food and drink options inside the venue. I have been to a couple other amphitheater's and I believe this one to be one of the cooler ones Iv been to. I love the fact that it's individual seats with a back as opposed to most outdoor spots utilize metal benches. Of course every concert the beers are 10-14 bucks and mixed drinks are 10-20 depending on what you get. It's insane ....but it's like that at every concert. The sound was really good and with the mountains in the backdrop....kind of cool! We parked for free in a strip of grass just in front of the 20 and 40 dollar parking lots. Not that bad of a walk at all and seemed many others did the same. So didn't cost us anything to park...but might utilize Uber in the future....

Jubilee Joe's Crawfish Boil was the catch of the day at the Oak Mt. Amphitheatre! Parking was widely available due to modest people in attendance, but the venue was perfect for such an event. There were multiple shelters for VIP and general admission. The stage for bands allowed for great performance and sound with tabletops throughout. I'll certainly return for other events. Big plus: clean and plentiful bathrooms cool staff

The bartender was friendly and she fixed some darn good drinks. They have live music, a plus in my book. They also have outside seating. We started with fried oysters and fried crab claws, both could have been seasoned a little more, other than that they were pretty tasty. I ordered the twice baked tater with chicken and it was surprisingly good and loaded with chicken. My husband had the 1/2 rack of ribs with baked beans and macaroni and cheese. The ribs were very tender but needed more smoke flavor. The baked beans were not good; lacked flavor and tasted like canned pork and beans. The mac and cheese was decent, nothing to brag about. The owner/manager stopped by and apologized for the wait. It took a while for our appetizers to arrive. I appreciate the fact that he took the time to address the wait as he did with other customers. Our server was friendly, very attentive and also apologized for the wait. We do plan on returning to try other items on the menu and to have a good drink.

Hillside Music & Que just recently opened under new management. It was most recently Palm & Pig. I tried it when it was Palm and Pig and I thought it was rather good. Hillside is located near the Vestavia City Center right next to Bob's Power Equipment, which ironically has been in that location for over 20 years at least. Hillside is located on at the end of a small strip so they have a nice outdoor space with a covered patio. It's great for a guitar player and with big heaters is even pleasant to sit out there (when it wasn't Hillside). The interior is quite large despite the small entrance. It extends quite far to the back. They have a nice little bar and a good side stage for their many live performers. In fact their very model for this restaurant thrives on live performers with "Band Inquiries Call 205-901-2225" centered on their menu! Our party arrived on bustling Friday evening. Luckily we didn't have to wait long at all and got a table right away. Our server arrived quickly and got our drink orders. There wasn't a performer but the place was loud with chatter. While we were there, a two man guitar group started setting up. Our drinks arrived promptly and our orders taken. About 15 minutes later our food arrived. Matthew tried the Diablo burger. I had to have a bite and it was spicy as promised. Their "Dooom a -que" sauce wasn't bad. Tammy and Jack tried the Philly. Shaved ribeye, caramelized onions and topped with American cheese on a cuban roll. It also wasn't bad. Plentiful grilled beef and good bread. Sarah had the Hillside burger. It was also good and burger a nice medium. I tried the shrimp poboy. Lettuce, onion, pickle were topped with 6 perfectly fried shrimp in a slightly toasted hoagie bun. After I lathered it with the smoked tomoato aioli sauce which was served on the side, I took my first bite and was impressed. I've had worse and this poboy was quite enjoyable! Yom Yom Yom. We also really enjoyed the "okra fries". The cucumber salad was rather underwhelming and the fries were soggy and undersalted. Surprisingly none of us tried any of their bbq. A good reason to return. We had a good time and had great service. If you enjoy good ole southern comfort food and good live entertainment, give Hillside a try.

The cook's name is Joseph and he knows how to season. My only complaint was that it's a bar at night so still smoke filled during the day. I noticed a LOT of outgoing orders. The first time we waited around 15 minutes at a table before anyone acknowledged us, and the second time was basically the same experience sitting at the bar. Friendly service definitely wasn't the strong point here either. That said, the food honestly saved this review from being much lower. The wings had a fantastic sauce with great flavor, the fried pickles were crispy and addictive, and the fried green tomatoes were genuinely delicious with a really solid batter. Even the beers were ice cold and crisp, which fit the vibe perfectly. The biggest issue is that the pricing feels a little high for the overall experience and environment. If you're charging those kinds of prices, the cleanliness and service really need to match it better. If you're coming strictly for fried bar food and cold beer, you'll probably enjoy it. Just don't expect attentive service or a polished atmosphere.

I found out a comedian my husband really likes was going be at the StarDome during Father's Day weekend. I decided to order tickets online so I could take him to see this comedian. When you order tickets online, you have to pick up the physical tickets from the box office. They provide detailed directions on how to do that and when that's available. Our show started later than the time listed on our tickets because the comedian went over, which was not a problem for me. If the comedian is giving the audience more time, I'm cool with that. We waited in one of the bar areas to be seated. Once the door is open and we were able to be seated, we were set quickly in seats with a great view. You have to order a minimum of two items.
