I am giving only 4 stars ... read on for details. All & all satisfied with Oak Park Community and semi satisfied with living conditions in my unit. One major drawback for me at this time is as tenants move out, vacant units are renovated. New tenants pay a lot less than occupied units. It does not appear occupied units will get renovated. The only way we can get a renovation is to move into a unit that has been renovated. I love my unit for various reasons. I have a great view and privacy. Floor plans are nice here. My carpeting is worn out and all that is offered is new padding. No new carpeting. It's pretty sad when epoxy glue is used to repair your refrigerator cooling strips are worn out and irreparable in your refrigerator. For the most part I enjoy living here. The staff here is nice. No complaints there. I feel safe here and it's close to my job. I understand the staff can only do so much. It's Equity Corporate Offices with the check book. If Equity Corp in Chicago sees this post I can only ask to please consider renovating occupied units since occupied units are paying for the renovations. And rather than using epoxy in refrigerators, replace the whole thing. After speaking to friends of mine outside of our community it appears they have the same issues with respect to high rent increases, old carpeting and outdated appliances that needs repairs should be replaced. read more

I actually really like living here. Sure, their apartments and not perfect, and our screen door and sliding door came broken, but the neighborhood is nice and the apartments are large. The only problem I have is the insane increase on rent in such a short period of time. We are renting a 2bed 2bath, and although I expected a small rental increase, our rent was increased about 7%. We originally planned to stay at this complex for years to come, but we decided that we will be looking elsewhere in the future and hopefully find a place that does not do such high rental increases. I would recommend as a place to live for just 1 year read more

The maintenance team here is great, but Randy deserves a special shoutout! Not only does he fix things quickly and efficiently, but he has also shown saint-like patience with my incredibly stubborn ice maker, which refuses to accept its fate as a functioning appliance. The maintenance staff really are the best here. Jorge has helped me several times with repairs, and he is always respectful, quick, and knowledgeable. He answers all of my questions. He also helped me carry a heavy cart of groceries up the stairs, which was a huge help. When I see him around the community, he always greets me by name. First of all, the maintenance staff, Jorge, Randy and Jerry the Chief, are the best....My waIt time for a usual service call has never been longer then a few hours...and if it's not fixed then, I can count on Randy or George being here and repairing the next day(usually early...My wife and I are handy and we are so grateful for these wonderful guys!!!!! We love it here.... The office staff is also wonderful!! we've lived in a few apartments here and they're all great...If there's ever an issue, it's taken care of in a prompt, professional manner!!!!! JORGE C - Maintenance Guy from Oak Park Apartment. I've been a residents of Oak Park Apartment for almost 6 years now. So far I am very happy with their maintenance services. Every time I have submitted a maintenance request, regardless if it is weekdays or weekend, I always received a prompt response. Jorge C. is always the one who's working most of my request. Whether it was a simple changing light bulbs, clogged disposal, plumbing, electricity, and just recently my A/C. Name it and he knows how to fix it. Jorge is very professional and knowledgeable. He is so kind, honest, quick. He always goes up and beyond with everything and he does it with a smile. Just recently he did again a great job fixing my A/C. This guy is amazing And respectful. The leasing team was excellent. They responded to all my requests and worked very hard to make sure I got my place as soon as possible. When I moved in I was having problems with my washer. I called maintenance at 9pm and they sent Randy over the very next morning. He did a phenomenal job! Nothing but positive so far. read more

I just received an email from the main office that there is going to be construction on the street where I park my vehicle. The email landed in my inbox on March 21st 2023 between 6pm and 8pm. Plan: repaving of the street / parking on March 23rd 2023. Gotta get my car out of there that day. No problem you'd think? No, except for the fact that I am currently in Hawaii, and I left my car at my apartment. That is 2 days of warning. Who the hell is in charge of the planning here? They know this for WAY longer... Now I gotta scramble to get someone to go to my apartment, grab the keys and move my car, otherwise my car will get towed, and we all know the care that is applied to that. Oh, and this is the same company that replaced all toilets with new ones that are super-low-flush. You'd think our water bill dropped? Nope. And everybody here now had to get a plunger because, well, you get the idea. read more

We have lived here for almost two years now. It started out nice. But as other reviews pointed out quickly went down hill. It is not worth how much rent goes up each lease renewal. When you move in everything looks nice and fixed. Slowly all the bandaids they put over things will start to come off. There's giant cracks in our wall, whatever material the put on the kitchen cabinets just bubbles up, glue is coming up from our floors constantly. They sent someone to fix the floors once.. not sure what they did but they look exactly the same. I feel like the only keep the grounds up to date when there are a lot of apartments for rent. Otherwise it's just trashed. Grass, overgrown, bushes overgrown, stuff all over the sidewalks, spider webs EVERYWHERE. The jacuzzi is usually unusable because it's so dirty. The people in the office are nice if you go in. But they don't return email or phone calls. You have to physically go in when you need to talk to them. Also the repair men came into the apartment to change the air conditioner thermometer when I was in the shower!!!! Super inappropriate and made me really uncomfortable!!! If they come in and hear the shower on you think common sense would tell them to come back. Anyways if you have money to blow on a mediocre place come here. Otherwise I'm sure there's better places for your money in the area. read more

I lived in this apartment complex for five years. Like with many businesses relationships everything started off good but quickly turned one sided once the lease was signed. One of the things that kept us at this location was the no-pet policy (it certainly wasn't the cost of rent). While living there they decided they wanted to allow pets. To compound this issue they added a policy that required pet owners to have their dogs defecate on the outer edge of the property, where our apartment was. From that point on opening the windows meant you'd get a poop scented breeze. Worse was that our unit ended up getting black mold. Their solution was to paint over it and ignore the problem. We'd report it again and they'd just show up and paint it again. I'm not up to date on Landlord/Tenant laws in CA but that seems like a red flag to me. The grounds were always unruly and the gardening personnel they hired regularly skipped trimming bushes. This meant that the area near our door and patio was often a haven for spiders... especially black widows. In many cases there were black widows on our door and made it impossible to comfortably use our patio (which was also where our laundry machines were). The AC vents in our unit were extremely filthy. When we turned on the AC (which was often) dust would accumulate on our things often ruining them. When we complained to the staff they sent a AC maintenance guy to clean the vents and he pointed out that he was sure they'd never been cleaned since the building had been built back in the 1980's. I'll end this pointing out that Oak Park as an area is a wind tunnel. That's not a problem in and of it's own. However no one ever properly closed the utility doors behind each apartment unit. On those windy nights the doors would slam open and closed in the wind. On many occasions I had to go out late at night to the back of the apartment and find a large enough rock to prop against the door as they were impossible to secure without the maintenance key that the staff had. To add insult to injury when we did finally move out our entire deposit was taken and they even charged us extra fees for paint and carpet (you know things that the deposit was supposed to cover)! For the price they charge you're better off finding a different complex to live in. Oak Park and Westlake Village are full of better properties. read more

These are by far the most expensive, crappiest apartments you could ask for. There have been so many problems with them I honestly don't know where to start. First of all the office is horrible at picking up the phone. Or returning messages. Or doing anything really... We had the ceiling of our laundry room rot out and collapse. Everything leaks. Their water heater decided to bust and flood our room. Took 2+ weeks for them to "fix it". They ripped out the carpet and wall and left an open hole to the outside. The inside of the wall was filled with RAT POOP... They taped off half the room and made two adults sleep in the living room. The maintenance guy was disgustingly rude, and acted more like a drill sergeant than what he really was. The office also really likes to post vague notices on your door, then when you call them to ask about it, get no response. Months later you get a pay or quit notice since you apparently were late on a bill, but they make sure to let it drag on long enough to rack up a nice bill first! The office also had our rent listed as 100 more than what our lease said. No one there knows what is going on. I can't tell you how much of a waste of money these apartments are. They are old, run down, over priced garbage. Look elsewhere for people who actually value your time and money. And no Jennifer, we were called back the next day after we left a message on the EMERGENCY line saying there was a leak. There was no immediate response at all. And your staff was rude about it almost the whole time. read more

We have lived here for almost a year and it's the best place we have lived! My fiancé and I moved away from the big city and wanted a place we could breathe (especially in covid times). Enter Oak Park Apartments, our place is so beautiful and spacious. Just what we need! I love coming home and spending time on our lovely patio surrounded by trees and nature. Grounds are well kept, strict no smoking property, maintenance is quick and reliable and incredible amenities. Only wish there was a dog park/yard then it would be perfect but the local parks and trails make up for it! read more
