Another time I visited and my loved one was sitting in his wheelchair in a puddle of pee which had pooled on the floor. Another time I was berated by a staff member because she couldn't find his shoes, which were in his closet, like I told her. I also got accused of stealing food from the kitchen, which turned out to be unfounded. I tripped and fell coming out of the elevator because it wasn't level with the floor. All was great until COVID (2020 - 2022) administration changed and it was tough to take the major change in staff and the was the place was ran. But then Amy became the administrator and she has made positive changes. We are so grateful for the care they gave our parents. I am only giving 4 stars because there is always room for improvement but I can honestly say that after 8 years I am happy with the care they have provided and because I have looked at other facilities I know that ECC is the best in Rock County.

Upon entering, staff members are stationed at the information desk to answer any questions, which is helpful. The pool is located in one corner of the building. There are lockers available for changing, and a lifeguard is always on duty. It's a lap-sized pool and overall a nice facility. This time, I visited a friend who was there for a procedure. Continued to belittle my mother and defend the abusive boyfriend who is only staying with her so he can receive her house when she passes away. My mother ended up speaking with the director and "person above the director" (literally wouldn't even tell my mother her job title) and they were both extremely rude and said that our family keeps putting their staff in the middle... isn't that their JOB?! Told my mother that her and her sister call too much, when all they're doing is making sure she can get the best care possible, because if we just leave it to the staff, my grandmother would starve! Extremely surprised this place is still in business. Our family feels defeated and now there is nothing we can do about her being sent home with a gold-digging abusive man! Such a shame.

I went to the Stoughton ER for abdominal pain and was seen by Dr. Dahlberg. I was first evaluated…read moreat Urgent Care in Madison and they said that I needed to be evaluated further at an Emergency Room, due to my severe abdominal pain. The only test that I was offered at the Stoughton ER was a blood test, which showed significant abnormalities, yet I was told the blood tests were fine and I could follow up with my physician if I didn't feel better the following day. I had expected an ultrasound or other imaging, but was told that was not necessary. They sent me home. After experiencing excruciating pain the entire night, I scheduled an appointment with my doctor's office and was quickly diagnosed with acute appendicitis the following day. My surgery was then handled at St. Mary's in Madison, where the level of care was so much better. I write this in hopes that Stoughton Hospital will make some changes to improve services or at the very least, to warn others that there are better options. I would recommend avoiding Stoughton Hospital, even though the convenience may be tempting.

They asked me if I could come in the next day to talk to the Surgeon. Dr. Schwaab was great. I decided to have the surgery done. 10 days later It was all done. I spent four days in the hospital and the staff was great. Dr. Schwaab visit with me in the morning and late afternoon every day. This was 1st class care and I felt very safe and comfortable.
