The spot was nice in upper lot. It was a pull through spot. Has electricity and water and was very affordable. There is a dump station at bottom of the park. The Spots are really to close-narrow and too close to each other, there is not enough room for your trailer and vehicle and it not long enough for your tow vehicle and trailer. There are 3 spots for tow vehicles and another 2 handicap available spots. The problem is there are 13 camp sites? Do the math? All good until next morning when ranger shows up with puffed chest and wants paperwork...and has nothing on his end. Not sure why we filled out our paperwork online. We showed ours, but found him to be rude and not helpful. He quoted rules not on website and was just a bully to all in the almost full area. The spots are nice, the location worked for us as it was near Moorpark College that I was working at. But won't stay again. read more

Absolutely worst campground we have ever stayed at would not recommend it to anyone. We were scheduled to stay here for 2 weeks and decided to leave early due to a multitude of issues, the campground is not maintained, overgrown with weeds, dirty restrooms, camp host is non existent, safety- gates not closed when park closes allows for anyone to cruise thru anytime of night scouting out campsites, campers arriving all times of night trying to park and unload making all kinds of noise, homeless people staying in sites making a huge mess of the sites, entrance to the campground is a trash dumping site for people looks horrible, nobody enforces the rules and regulations and nobody following them. Oak Park - RV Parks Near Me - Simi Valley, California

While the proximity to Moorpark College was convenient for our class reunion visit, our experience at Oak Park Campground left much to be desired. Safety concerns arose with low hanging tree branches and broken glass scattered around our campsite - not ideal for families with children or pets. Our site, #11 in the lower campground, had misplaced 30amp power and water hookups(on the passenger side, when all other sites had it on the driver side). A nearby (20' away) train disrupted our sleep, running at odd hours in the early morning. Our 38.5-foot fifth wheel, standing at 13'7" tall, constantly brushed against tree branches navigating through and out of the park. The most concerning issue was the nearly overflowing dump station, with the host nonchalantly mentioning it's a common occurrence and suggesting we dump at our own risk. Unfortunately, we won't be returning for another stay. If you want to try this campground and stay in the lower sites (upper sites is like a big parking lot where public can literally park next to you for day use) try site 13. Less branches to hit when parking. Upper is farther away from the train tracks, but you'll still hear it at 5am regardless. read more

Oak Park - Site 13 lower campground - RV Parks Near Me - Simi Valley, California

Neutral about this place, only because there isn't some sort of water feature near it. Most campsites usually have a lake, or a river or a stream or something that just screams chilling at a campsite. I do like the fact that there are fire rings at each site, which at the time of October 2022 cost around $40 a piece. There is a massive outdoor barbecue area for private parties in the upper campground. You do have to book these campsites through the county website. We did notice there is a camp host on site, who is very helpful. For a quick night out in the woods for a city slicker, this might be your best bet when it comes to Camping close to the city. Think of it as an extended stay, overnight in the woods kind of vibe. I do prefer the lower Campground area, only because it's completely surrounded by trees, and you get the shade. During the week, it's usually pretty empty. Only problem is that during daylight hours, there is an Amtrak train which literally runs about 100 ft away from you, and the noise is definitely something you'd expect from an Amtrak train, or a cargo train passing right through your campsite every couple hours. The upper Campground definitely felt like you were camping on cement, and most of that is because they do not allow tent camping in the upper area. Why exactly they don't allow tent camping is beyond reason. I just don't get it. Maybe someone can chime in? read more

Drove around entire campground & sorely disappointed. Much of property was unkempt & overgrown with weeds. Appears to be inhabited by folks unable to live in RVs on local streets due to regulations. Didn't bother walking around as too much broken glass, trash, etc. were everywhere. So sad because this would normally be so much fun for families. Hard No for us. read more

So there aren't any showers or wifi. Buck up and enjoy the fruits of nature. There are flush toilets, water and electric hookups for around $30 a day. The sites were shaded enough and large enough to feel comfortable in the daytime and not all up your neighbor's business at night. It's also close enough to town so you don't feel like if you forgot something, you're SOL. The camp dude was super friendly and laid back but the county park people were incredible sticklers and patrolled every morning looking for any discrepancies in the rule abiding. Also if you camp here a night and leave to check out another site, you can't return to another Ventura County campground for a week. To keep out that riff raff. Another thing that begs mentioning: there is a very busy train track DIRECTLY situated behind the campsites. When it passes in the night you may be ripped from your peaceful fresh air induced sleep and the first thing that pops into your confused head is: the apocalypse has begun! But if you stay for a few days, you get used to it. There are also black widow spiders who like to hang out by the bathrooms. Be vigilant. So why the 4 star review? Because this place marks the beginning of my stay in California and it holds a special place in my heart. read more

What a dump ! They charge you $26 to camp but you can't drain your gray or black water? Ridiculous!

I've visited Oak Park recently and for day use, it's really well-equipped and perfect for large groups. There's a very large paved parking area, lots of covered picnic tables, fresh water, a basketball court, nice restrooms, a large BBQ and open areas for kids to play. There's also a fair amount of shade, with numerous oak trees scattered throughout the facility. For camping, it's a completely different story. While the spaces here are nice and electrical hookups and a trailer dump are available, let's look at the big picture. The campgrounds are located directly between the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and the 118 Freeway. That translates into the sound of passing trains, trucks, motorcycles and cars all night long, which are clearly audible from anywhere in the park. Not to mention the radio controlled aircraft site directly West of the park, which insures you'll be hearing buzzing little engines all weekend. The other downside for camping here are the general surroundings. Aside from the running vehicles, there's also the non-running variety across the street in a full-blown wrecking yard. Then there's the Simi Arroyo, which is ground zero for paintball heroes during Saturday & Sunday. And further down the street is a recycling center, the Simi Sewer Plant, an RV & boat storage yard, a large concrete business and the East County Animal Shelter. If this is the industrial ambiance you were looking for, then this is your place! However if you're looking for something a little closer to nature, I'd go somewhere else. The last little bit of warning here is regarding that railroad track. It's very active, with both passenger and freight trains passing at least once per hour, if not more. On top of this, they move fast and the RR crossing here is old-school. If you have kids or pets, PLEASE keep them away from the tracks and be very careful. read more

Very quite beautiful park stayed to camp for a couple of nights , very peaceful and quite lovely.

This place is sketchy, at least it was the weekend we were there. If you have an RV and can choose your spot away from the partiers and lock your door to ensure no uninvited visitors, it might be tolerable, but the tent camping is just not worth it. We were there Thursday through Sunday, and the freight trains on Thursday night were incessant. As has been mentioned, the train tracks literally run right up above the camp and the noise is deafening. They didn't really seem to be running on Friday or Saturday however. The bathrooms were clean and had real (as opposed to those "hole in the ground" deals) toilets and sinks, that was unexpected. I was with friends, if I hadn't been, I probably my would have not stayed. I would not recommend this as a safe place for single females by themselves. An acquaintance who was in an RV with two dogs staying the same weekend as us actually packed up early and left as she didn't feel safe either. Definitely not a place you want to hang out in camp--it's a "just passing through" joint for sure. Campers beware. read more

Quiet, calm... ahhhh..... The train is therapeutic. They have a RV dump on site, and restrooms that are kept in working order, I came here as a kid and have stayed here a few times recently and never had a problem getting a site. It's almost like your not here, or your somewhere else. You usually have to travel to get this vibe, and it is quiet, no white noise andhas a very positive energy flowing through here, definitely sacred land. read more
