    Trash

Absolutely worst campground we have ever stayed at would not recommend it to anyone. We were scheduled to stay here for 2 weeks and decided to leave early due to a multitude of issues, the campground is not maintained, overgrown with weeds, dirty restrooms, camp host is non existent, safety- gates not closed when park closes allows for anyone to cruise thru anytime of night scouting out campsites, campers arriving all times of night trying to park and unload making all kinds of noise, homeless people staying in sites making a huge mess of the sites, entrance to the campground is a trash dumping site for people looks horrible, nobody enforces the rules and regulations and nobody following them. I could go on and on but I think you get the point

While the proximity to Moorpark College was convenient for our class reunion visit, our experience at Oak Park Campground left much to be desired. Safety concerns arose with low hanging tree branches and broken glass scattered around our campsite - not ideal for families with children or pets. Our site, #11 in the lower campground, had misplaced 30amp power and water hookups(on the passenger side, when all other sites had it on the driver side). A nearby (20' away) train disrupted our sleep, running at odd hours in the early morning. Our 38.5-foot fifth wheel, standing at 13'7" tall, constantly brushed against tree branches navigating through and out of the park. The most concerning issue was the nearly overflowing dump station, with the host nonchalantly mentioning it's a common occurrence and suggesting we dump at our own risk. Unfortunately, we won't be returning for another stay. If you want to try this campground and stay in the lower sites (upper sites is like a big parking lot where public can literally park next to you for day use) try site 13. Less branches to hit when parking. Upper is farther away from the train tracks, but you'll still hear it at 5am regardless.

Neutral about this place, only because there isn't some sort of water feature near it. Most campsites usually have a lake, or a river or a stream or something that just screams chilling at a campsite. I do like the fact that there are fire rings at each site, which at the time of October 2022 cost around $40 a piece. There is a massive outdoor barbecue area for private parties in the upper campground. You do have to book these campsites through the county website. We did notice there is a camp host on site, who is very helpful. For a quick night out in the woods for a city slicker, this might be your best bet when it comes to Camping close to the city. Think of it as an extended stay, overnight in the woods kind of vibe. I do prefer the lower Campground area, only because it's completely surrounded by trees, and you get the shade. During the week, it's usually pretty empty. Only problem is that during daylight hours, there is an Amtrak train which literally runs about 100 ft away from you, and the noise is definitely something you'd expect from an Amtrak train, or a cargo train passing right through your campsite every couple hours. The upper Campground definitely felt like you were camping on cement, and most of that is because they do not allow tent camping in the upper area. Why exactly they don't allow tent camping is beyond reason. I just don't get it. Maybe someone can chime in?

Sheeeeeesh! So many negative reviews I had to come break it up with our groups positive experience…read more We camped here the last weekend of July for the Warped Tour music festival down the street. This was our first time camping in a park like this, we've only done some dry camping in the desert prior. I didn't know what to expect but was incredibly happy with everything. Booking online was easy peasy. Checking in was just as easy. Checkout was even easier as we didn't have to do anything besides pack up and go. Now our stay, we were a little worried on the size of the site as we had friends joining us with a second vehicle. Upon arrival we were ecstatic to see that our trailer, tow vehicle, and friends car all fit into our space and still gave us plenty of room to hangout. They had amenities like a bathroom/shower/pool, little market etc. We didn't have time for a dip in the pool but it looked well kept and nice. Our friends used the bathrooms and said they were standard campground showers. I didn't feel they were super necessary as the site has full hookups so I took a nice hot shower in our travel trailer. But hey, they're there if you need! The WiFi wasn't great, but it worked okay. If having high speed internet is important to you when traveling, get a hot spot on your phone or one of those spaceX satellite things. Anyway, we had a great experience, no issues at all. We already booked a site for next year as did a few of our friends!

A cute touch is the morning juice bar! I only took away the 5th star because the pictures show an ocean view - but 3 years ago an apartment complex was built blocking it. I was initially disappointed, but the grounds made up for it, and we will be back!

Here, you will stay in a trailer (possibly an Airstream or something like an Airstream) and you are probably a 10 minute walk to the beach. Beat that. If you have ever stayed in a trailer, you know it's tight quarters. But you get your own kitchen and bathroom and it's a heckuva lot more fun than a bland, stale hotel room. The site has firepits. Even better, they give you complimentary s'more kits with all the fixings. They have BBQs for grilling. They give you cookies and yogurt in the morning. They even give you oranges so you can squeeze your own orange juice. I don't drink orange juice normally but the juice here was outstanding. They have books and games available for borrowing. They have hammocks and swings and picnic tables. They have bikes for free rental. They have freshly-baked cookies that are delicious. There is apple cider and hot chocolate. There are a lot of amenities here which you simply will not find at most hotels. The train runs right by here and it's loud and shocking at first but it doesn't come by that often and you get used to it. Inside the trailer, aside from the train, the grounds are extremely quiet. This is a fun place and something different. The location is great and you get a lot of value for your money.

Sue and Eva run a clean and well-maintained place and they always have time for a smile and kind word. The park has strict rules but it serves to keep the place safe and visually appealing. Since it's in the San Fernando Valley it's busy but located in a very safe and convenient part of town. The spaces are well worth the price, you can walk to the mall and many other restaurants and shops. This is an urban park with very few drive-through spaces but the spaces are plenty wide enough to fit a large rig and park 2 cars. They have showers, a coin laundry, and lots of trees around the park. The guests have always been friendly and considering it's in the middle of LA, it's pretty quiet at night. They have a really comfy & well-appointed common room for meetings, watching tv, checking email, or just playing pool and their swimming pool is crystal clear. Highly recommended!

Because of this, the price feels a bit on the steep side, especially given the outdated bathrooms and showers. The pool was absolutely freezing too much to enjoy. One thing that really stood out as a bit of an eyesore (and honestly quite off-putting) was the overflowing dumpster. I discovered there's only one tiny bin for all the campers, and during our stay, it got so bad that it looked like people were chucking their bags of trash into the recycling bin. On the plus side, the people were friendly, and the groundskeeper was fantastic. He even took my trash bag and got rid of it for me so I didn't have to go anywhere near the mess. I noticed he was always on the go, making sure everything around the campsite was clean apart from the trash area which had really no hope. All in all, this is a place I'd consider as a stopover to break up my journey, but I wouldn't make it the main destination nor an extended stay. We've experienced better amenities for this price at other private sites.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION May 2025:…read more I am giving this RV park four stars for now in the hopes of the current construction improves this place. It was so rundown looking with weeds, broken pavement, and bad shower facilities. Water was left to run even in water-thirsty California. The Pros of this place though is absolutely the location. Right on the beach at the front and a wonderful bird/wildlife sanctuary in the "bay" area. There are consistently migrating and local birds in abundance. There are also sea lions that you can hear and see on the shores. The temperature weather here also makes it a good spot most of the year. Beware of the May gray, June gloom, etc. There are ample facilities on base also. Mini store, gas station, a couple of restaurants. but it is a bit far from either Port Hueneme or Camarillo - the closest towns. They also have bare bones yurts. These are great. They have two bunk beds, a heater, and tables. They also have bbq grills out front. These have a view of the bay. It's pretty no frills though but could be a great adventure for the family. Cons: Absolutely a huge con are the mosquitoes. They run around unchecked and are prolific. If you see people running from their cars into stores, buildings, etc., it is because of the mosquitoes. Winters you don't see them but come summertime, they are a mess. (This past summer of 2024 we saw very few.) Bring bug spray and sit closer to a fire. Bring a large fan also as that will keep the mosquitoes from landing on you. Overall, it's a great place to stay. It may be hard to get reservations.
