Tons of sycamore trees fill the campground. There are fire pits, each site has running water, there are bathrooms, showers for a small fee (get tokens), gate closes each night at 10 pm so no one is driving by your campsite, safe and quiet feeling. Love the location and definitely want to come back here

Parking is easy on the road into the Rose Valley campground or pay day use to come inside the campground. Walk to falls is from a marked trail within the campground. Less than a 1/2 mile to the falls. Rated very easy! Sometimes there is water. Sometimes not so much. Swim opportunities along the creek. Thomas Fire scars still visible 6.5 years after the fire which was on December 4, 2017. Today is 7.7.2024.

The sand was clean and there wasn't too much litter and I really enjoyed my time here. To make things better, when the stars came out I could see most of them clearly, it looked extraordinary. The only downside was the bathroom ( basically porta potties). The bathroom was disgusting and they shouldn't be too lazy and just make real bathrooms. To wrap things up,this is a great place to life,but make sure you come prepared.

The pricing is very affordable, but keep in mind: there's no shade no lights no sinks only porta‑potties It's a very simple, rugged, beach‑front campground -- so come fully prepared. They do sell firewood on site, which is convenient. The closest stores are in Malibu, about a 20‑minute drive away. If you're looking for a true beach‑camping experience with unbeatable ocean access, this spot is hard to beat.

No place to throw trash away. Had to take it with you. You pretty much need to have an RV to enjoy this place. Too windy for tent camping. Because of the bend of California, this beach is extremely windy. You better have 4 people to help put up a tent, otherwise it will blow away. Also makes swimming unpleasant in the afternoon and evening, it's just too windy. Absolutely zero shade. No trees or covered areas. Would NOT recommend for non RV campers or for families with kids. Waves, wind, and current too strong.

We had to maneuver our way back into the spot and made it work but I would not suggest it for big rigs. Our stay was nice but cut short due to the drastic rainy weather coming our way. This spot sits at the bottom of a sloped road or washy area so we were not about to stay there and have anything come barreling down behind us and cause us any harm to ourselves, our pets or our truck/rig. So, we messaged the park about us leaving and explained our safety concerns and they were happy to refund us the two days early we had to leave. We were very grateful and anxious to leave to get ahead of the impending storm. As you all know when California gets rain it gets rain and you need to stay clear of these areas for your safety. We would go back and stay at Foster Residence Campground and would recommend.

You can tell this guy wakes up hating life. He needs to find a new job that doesn't require him having to interact with people. There's ways to handle certain situations without coming across as rude, arrogant, and cocky. Someone needs to mentor this guy. His partner was cool and he's an example of how all rangers should be. Other than the lame ass ranger, the location was ok. It's walking distance to the beach. The campsite can get hot if you're camping in summer and there's not much shade. When the breeze hits, it gets super cold if you're not used to the coast. Bring extra blankets and layers for night time. Make sure you have a tent that can handle heavy fog/morning dew. Our tent had some minor leaking around 3am because of the fog.

Right alongside the 101 Fwy, there are an assortment of campgrounds and beach. The creatures (bunnies, squirrels, assorted birds, jumping fish and water birds) here just add to the beauty of the ocean. The restrooms were stocked with toilet paper, a huge plus and were semi clean! The beach portion of the park was very clean and absolutely gorgeous. A great place for quiet and relaxation! The group campsite is currently being cleaned up and has lots going on. I can't wait to see what's to come!

Anacapa is the nearest of the Channel Islands and reachable through Island Packers who'll take you to and from the island. At this time of year the island is 99.9% birds and you, as a visitor, are a mere intrusion. The way that Island Packers has it scheduled, the island's arrival and departure times give you just enough time to get on the island, eat your lunch, then enjoy a slow trail walk around the island (best with one of the volunteer guides who provide this service), a stop at Inspiration Point, and a brief bit of extra time before it's again time to board the boat. Unless you're camping on the island, this is all the time you would want there. Why you should go at this time of year is to see those birds. Brown Pelicans, once endangered, build their nests on Anacapa but by design their nests aren't near the trail. Brown Pelicans will abandon their eggs if humans are too near. But every other part of the island? That's where the gulls lay their eggs, right on the ground, and on Anacapa this means EVERYWHERE: Think thousands and thousands of gulls and their chicks. Gull's babies look nothing like mature gulls and when you first eye the youth you'll be amazed. The little spotted birds blend perfectly with their surroundings and would be easy to step upon were you the least bit off trail (so stay on the trail). As you trod the path around the flat island go slow. Some birds are serene, just sitting quietly atop their eggs. Others are Tiger Moms and scream or dive bomb at you as you try to pass. It's exciting, interesting, unique, and unforgettable. I'd not go back to Anacapa a second time because it's very small and I've now seen it in its entirety. There's no hiking to be done here on this flat island and the only camping site is in the treeless center of the island, which might be interesting - or boring - at times the birds are not nesting. But if you don't hike, haven't seen it, and this sounds compelling you should get out there and check it out. When the birds are nesting, it's an experience you won't soon forget. Disclaimer: To get off Island Packer's boat and onto the island will require you to hoist yourself up a ladder then walk up a flight of 150 stairs once on the island.
