The management, Steve, was very nice. The park got us in when we needed a place for my work and we are very appreciative. Things to know, the air traffic is heavy and all the time being next to Van Nuys Airport. It is generally crowded with tight spaces but seems to work out well for the park. We would recommend and would be back if in the area again. Thanks again, Steve, we truly appreciate your kindness.

We had a very pleasant stay at this eclectic RV park. The first time our trailer was forklifted into our spot too! I initially booked for two nights, but needed to extend for another night through New Year's Day. Lisa made adding that extra night quick and easy! Each site is equipped with full hookups, a grassy area and a bench. They also have bathrooms with showers, a laundry area and wifi. All the colorful murals and decor make this such a unique, cute spot! This is the closest RV park to Universal Studios (20 minute drive). We would not hesitate to book again when we're in the area.

Wow! Wow! Wow! We can't say enough positive things about this funky RV Park in the middle of the chaos of Los Angeles. What a peaceful place. After a 3,000 mike trek, we immediately felt our tension ease as we drove into the grounds. This is a older RV Park with spaces and streets so small, that they park your RV for you. We unhitched at the office, they hooked up a forklift and 10 minutes later, we were neatly parked in our space. And then, Bobby leveled our trailer, hooked up our electricity and connected our water and sewer. Man oh man, this is first class service of a kind we have never experienced before, and we have over 20,000 miles RV experience on the road. The park is Bohemian in character from a police officer mannequin on a motorcycle who greets you, a Volkswagen police car driven by a chimpanzee, a crystal chandelier hung from a tree outside, a Wizard of Oz life-sized diorama to murals of every kind, hand-painted on the walls and fences in the park. What a delightful place! Steve, the owner, is gregarious and we enjoyed spending 30 minutes with him on a private tour of his work in progress. It's kind of like the Winchester Mystery House in that there are surprises at ever turn and the building never stops. At night, I think Steve dreams of new and exciting tweaks to his already crazy-good park. We were only here for 9 days, but truly, we could live here, it was that great. When I booked our reservation, I had no idea what a treat lay in store. Book your stay early because there was not one empty space left when we arrived ... it's that popular. They have two laundry facilities as well as a men and women's bath/shower rooms that are immaculate. However, you may want to luxuriate in your own shower, because the water pressure is fantastic! You owe it to yourself to enjoy a funky side of life while visiting the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles.

    Restroom area, very clean!

We were staying for a day since this spot is relatively close to universal studios. Staffs there were super friendly in assisting with reservation and looking out for us when we were parking our RV. Got full access hookups- electricity, water and sewer. Our family felt very safe in this RV park which is important!

So cute! Our site was next to a Wizard of Oz display, which inspired our 5 year old to want to watch the movie for the first time!

Happy, happy, happy with this RV Park that sits smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles' busy metropolitan area (or just a smidge outside of)! We stayed here for a couple of nights and wanted easy access to the Santa Monica area, which this spot provided for us, with the consideration that typical LA area traffic is unavoidable. When we checked into the park we were assisted by a super friendly, helpful and informative gentleman. The park is themed and painted with all kinds of iconic Hollywood history. Each site has a picnic table and all of the hook-ups you could need for any kind of RV. The park is clean and well cared for. If you have pets, they provide a small but appreciated pet-park toward the back of the property. We felt that the property was safe, secure, well lit and the need for use of a key to enter the bathrooms was appreciated in helping to keep the restrooms free of any potential transient use. My only reason for not giving four stars is one that probably doesn't matter to many people that stay here because they have their own bathrooms inside of their RV's. But in both the men's and women's restrooms that were closest to our site, one of the three showers was out of order as well as with one of the toilet stalls in each. And the bathrooms could use a face lift. But they were clean and the showers provided ample hot water! There was also a gym on the premises (didn't peek inside though) and I saw a cute flyer posted about line dancing lessons being offered on Tuesday nights, which is a fun extra! Overall we were very impressed and will definitely plan to stay here again, should we be in the area!

Absolutely love this RV park! My family and I found it based on their amazing Yelp reviews. Not only is it centrally located with easy access to attractions, but my family and I love that this is way more than an ordinary RV park. Steve gave us a personal guided tour of the history of the park while pointing out beautiful artwork and their significance. It's a great place to stay and we will be back!

    Our spot. Cute little light!

The great thing about this park is that there is a sidewalk to walk on to walk the perimeter of the lake, or there are many areas of large green fields that surround the park. I have seen other dogs off leash, and normally this gives me great hesitation, but in a large park like this, you can be far enough distance away from everyone else and their dogs to avoid them. Now that it's spring, everything is blossoming and blooming, but be careful, when I was here the grass had not yet been mown, and there are so many foxtails growing right now. So many got caught in my shoes and thankfully I checked my dog's body completely and her feet and none had stuck to her. When things are mown it's great but also beware of the ants. When I was on the side of the park that has the football field sized grass area, I was watching my dog sniff and play and suddenly I felt something biting me. I looked down and dozens of red ants were climbing me from the dirt. I must have mistakenly stood on an ant mound. Thirdly, just also keep aware of coyotes, I have seen a coyote several times at Lake Balboa and they do not seem fearful whatsoever and they are just walking around casually in the middle of the day. This park is a true gem because of how beautiful and serene it makes life feel. There are people fishing in the lake, walkers, runners, people relaxing on benches reading, friends playing cards, birthday parties or other events, people bicycling or skateboarding. I love this park.

There's always a good mix of people here families, couples, dog walkers, and folks just trying to get some fresh air. The park is spacious, well-maintained, and surprisingly peaceful considering how central it is. Plenty of picnic tables, grassy areas to relax, and spots to just sit and people-watch. The ducks and birds add to the whole vibe. Parking is usually easy, which is a huge plus, and the restrooms are decent for a public park. On weekends it can get busy, but it never feels overwhelming because there's so much space. Whether you're looking for a quick walk, a picnic date, or a calm place to clear your head, Lake Balboa is a solid go-to. Definitely one of my favorite outdoor spots in the Valley.

There are metered spots all around the perimeter, but they were all taken. I ended up driving a block away and parking in front of an elementary school at a curb that's for pick up and drop off only during the school week. The park is about medium size. There's a tennis court, basketball court, a playground, tables and benches, and open grassy areas scattered with trees for shade. For the festival there were a few food trucks on the street, but you really didn't need to buy anything as long as you were willing to wait in a long line for a free pretzel, ice cream, and bottle of water. Just make sure to check in at one of the tables first where they'll ask you for your name and email and then give you tickets for the pretzel and ice cream and then you can get in line. One person is allowed to ask for multiple tickets for their family. The festival is kid centric, like the entertainment on stage were kids dancing and the live music was also aimed at kids. One song had lyrics that sounded like "Simon Says". There were also several tents that had a bunch of freebies like stickers and potato bag clips and even a booklet of the U.S. Constitution, which makes sense since a lot of the booths were promoting various local politicians. There's an onsite bathroom by the basketball courts, but beware that it's not the cleanest, but it's a public bathroom, so of course it isn't. If you have kids, this festival was made for you. If you don't, you can still enjoy the freebies, but it's not really something you'd want to stay around long for.

When it gets dark the trees don't let in too much light from the sky so make sure you bring your flashlight. As a recent mom of three, I felt so comfortable and safe solo watching my kids here. It's a nice playground in the middle of a fenced off grassy area with a restroom right by it. I loved that the restroom was right next to the playground to make a quick trip and not worry too much about my kiddos playing. They have a bunch of trees and also shaded top above so it was nice even though it was hitting 80F still! Surprisingly all the parents around were super attentive to their kids and made sure nobody was hurting another. I heard so many kids apologize for accidentally bumping into other kids and it just felt so nice to be in a kid area with kids who were well behaved, especially bc of my toddlers. Restrooms weren't too bad for a park. Not the cleanest but definitely not the worst I've been to. Overall I'm so happy we found this park and we will definitely be back more often!

Happy new year! This tiny park has truly evolved over the years. I grew up here in the…read moreneighborhood since 1997 , this little park didn't used to have a fancy playground in the middle. It was known as the RV and homeless park because it was super sketchy with RVs everywhere and questionable activity & odd characters....fast-forward a few years later & the city pushed for this to be a family friendly, child safe space. Well, the constant activity of children and families has scared away the illegal activity and all the RVs and sketchy folks. So the cities plan worked, now families have a place to bring their kids at, plus there is no sand and it's fenced in so it's very safe. There are also nods to Jesse Owen's the Olympic medalist athlete. There is a small bathroom in the middle dogs are welcome and it's at the end of a cul-de-sac and a very low-key suburban neighborhood. It is also next to a Wendy's fast food restaurant and a gas station and across the street. Is the Korean supermarket!
