A great spot for a drink and lunch! It's definitely a backwoods bar and grill type of vibe with tons of seating, tons of menu options, friendly and welcoming servers, the food was fantastic, and it wasn't super loud (we were there during lunch hours on a Sunday). There were booths, tables, and bar seating - a variety that will work for small to big parties. There was an additional dining room for busier times and the parking lot was large enough to accommodate. Our server was so sweet and seemed to know a lot of people that were dining in her section so there's gotta be a good regular crowd (which is usually a promising sign). If the locals like it, it's probably worth a stop! Our friends that live nearby got breakfast plates. They said they come in often and the breakfast is always a hit. They also recommend the "build your own" old fashioned sandwich for dinner. I had the BLT on marble rye bread - perfectly toasted, the bacon was the right amount of crispy, the toppings were fresh. The tater tots (crispy, not super greasy) were a hit with the entire table, everyone kept nibbling on them even after they were full. Our meals were priced well for the amount of food per dish which is a big plus nowadays. They also have a good Bloody Mary to cure those Sunday blues! Small little bar tucked in the middle of nowhere in Oak Grove. Seems to be populated by a lot of locals and I presume there are probably some solid menu items to be had, but this visit we missed them as the Philly Wrap was pretty poorly done. Definitely not recommended. We did try the Chicken Quesadilla, which was solid and packed with meat, so that was at least a plus! To top things off, service was pretty slow even considering the place wasn't super busy on a weeknight and not necessarily the most friendly or service-forward. read more

Oak Roads is a neighborhood bar that puts extra effort into their food - 4 stars. This was my first visit. It's a medium sized bar & grille with a down home, cabin type of feel. The whole vibe is super casual & mellow. They also have an outdoor patio on the west side. The best thing about the food, in my opinion, is they serve a wide variety of breakfasts all day long, any time. They also have several delicious desserts. According to the bartender, the most popular meals are the breakfasts, the club sandwiches, the chicken, and the ribs. This isn't a Chef Ramsay or a James Beard Award type of place. But for what it is, they obviously put extra thought and effort into the food. I got a meat lover's omelette. It was pretty wimpy on meat quantity. But the flavor was good and the portions were generous, especially the American fries. The jalapeno poppers were okay. But they were bigger than normal. And finally, the Chocolate Chimi dessert was great! It's basically a giant chocolate filled chimichanga (a Tex Mex deep fried burrito) - yum! It came with 2 big mounds of vanilla ice cream too. If you go for one, you definitely need to save room. It's huge, nearly the size of a complete meal. There are 8 types of tap beers but they have quite a few more varieties in bottles. Of course, they also have a full bar, equipped to make nearly every type of mixed drink. The service was excellent - friendly & prompt. The prices are very reasonable. Nice little small town bar off the beaten path, full of local Vikings fans on a Sunday as you'd expect during a Minnesota winter. Service was quick and attentive to our tables' needs. The breakfast food (biscuits and gravy) was excellent while the burger was just okay. I didn't care much for their crinkle cut fries or the house seasoned sour cream. Honestly didn't feel welcomed here. Our serve never introduced herself to us. We didn't even know her name. Wasn't friendly. She had a couple tables so being busy is one thing, but ignoring our table while walking past us was really immature and unprofessional. Would not recommend dinning here unless you are a regular. She seems way too interested and overly friendly to everyone that seemed like a regular.. then us who wanted to try it out and are new, we didn't even get a half smile or acknowledgement. How rude. Immediately walking in, you can see how disgusting the kitchen is and how none of the cooks use gloves while making the food. You can also taste how terrible the food is once it comes out, but worse than that is the management at this establishment. I believe the woman's name was Fate or Faith, she was rude to not only us, but her employees as well. Just demeaning and condescending in front of the entire restaurant! It was an absolutely terrible experience and I would never want to give that woman any more of my business even if the food was edible! We stopped for breakfast, and our first visit to Oak Roads Grille. If you are looking for a hearty home cooked breakfast - this is the place to go! Everything that we ordered was fantastic. Biscuits and gravy are delicious, comes with two eggs and choice of hashbrowns or American fries, the hashbrowns were on point. My daughter ordered a 3 cheese omelette, which was awesome, came with choice of hashbrowns or American fries, she got the American fries, they were fantastic and seasoned well. It also came with choice of toast, English muffin or pancake, she had the pancake - it was amazing. I do not normally like pancakes, these were something that I would order. It has a country style feel, the rest of the menu and specials look amazing - we will definitely be back! read more

Had to seat ourselves and grab our own menus and silverware that should've been our first sign to turn around and leave. Caesar salad was loaded with dressing couldn't even eat it, and the bun came with it was dry, butter didn't even help. The burgers were premade over cooked patties. The waitress never came by to ask us how our food was and we had to wait and wait to pay our tab. We also played the meat raffle and one which is very exciting, we put the meat in our car because it was 20° outside while we were inside eating. When we left less than an hour later, our vehicles smelled horrible inside it was from the meat, meat was rancid, stunk up the whole cards, smelled like a rotting corpse. Okay, so I am a picky eater and I have an 80% lifetime guarantee that my food will be messed up no matter where I try to eat out. My friends place bets before we order, that is how true my misfortune is with food. Okay, now the good stuff. After 20+ visits here, bar seating, booths and tables. Every single time our service has been terrific! Everything I have ordered from omelettes to dinner food, it is always hot, fresh and delicious. Has my black cloud lifted only at this place? I think so! Every bit of my good luck here has to do with the environment, service, and the fact that they really care about who walks in the door. Also, the restroom is always clean and there are placards on the tables stating if they were sanitized yet or not I love this along with the hand sanitizer dispenser right by the entrance. I know I can eat alone or invite my friends and family knowing we will have a great time. Paper pull tabs behind the bar then when the staff op opens there are 8 games, great variety, ETabs also. I think Thursdays have bingo and on-screen gaming races. Probably more I didn't pick up on. Overall, it is impressive how many times I have been there and have always left happy with my choice, even the 30-35 minute drive from home is worth it. One more thing, I have ordered decaf coffee several times and they always make a fresh pot without making me feel like a nuisance. We have been here before and the food and service was ok. On this Saturday night it was quite poor. 3 of us had walleye, they had a dinner special with a grilled walleye. Comes with asparagus, rice and a salad. We asked 3 times to get the salad which was marginal after waiting 30 minutes. The asparagus was cold. The rice watery. We got the last table which was right next to the single hole men's room. I can tell not everyone washes there hands as the dryer was very loud. Yuck read more

Went on a Saturday,3/24/18, at 7 pm. About 40% occupied. Hmmm. Room was cold and had ceiling fans running creating a wind chill effect. What is it with restaurants that set the room temperatures to make the staff comfortable and leaves the customers sitting on their hands? Waitress was uninformed about the menu and not very friendly. Menu pages are brown and very difficult to read. Ribs were way over cooked and very dry. Ate half. Boneless chicken was little balls of heavily breaded chicken bits. It was our first visit.our daughter lives nearby and I found it on Yelp. The service was quick and accurate. The chicken fried breakfast steak was tender and tasty; the pancakes were fluffy and light; the coffee was weak but adequate; I took poached eggs that were cooked properly, but with a bit more vinegar than I prefer.
