    Philly Wrap

Small little bar tucked in the middle of nowhere in Oak Grove. Seems to be populated by a lot of locals and I presume there are probably some solid menu items to be had, but this visit we missed them as the Philly Wrap was pretty poorly done. Definitely not recommended. We did try the Chicken Quesadilla, which was solid and packed with meat, so that was at least a plus! To top things off, service was pretty slow even considering the place wasn't super busy on a weeknight and not necessarily the most friendly or service-forward.

Oak Roads is a neighborhood bar that puts extra effort into their food - 4 stars. This was my first visit. It's a medium sized bar & grille with a down home, cabin type of feel. The whole vibe is super casual & mellow. They also have an outdoor patio on the west side. The best thing about the food, in my opinion, is they serve a wide variety of breakfasts all day long, any time. They also have several delicious desserts. According to the bartender, the most popular meals are the breakfasts, the club sandwiches, the chicken, and the ribs. This isn't a Chef Ramsay or a James Beard Award type of place. But for what it is, they obviously put extra thought and effort into the food. I got a meat lover's omelette. It was pretty wimpy on meat quantity. But the flavor was good and the portions were generous, especially the American fries. The jalapeno poppers were okay. But they were bigger than normal. And finally, the Chocolate Chimi dessert was great! It's basically a giant chocolate filled chimichanga (a Tex Mex deep fried burrito) - yum! It came with 2 big mounds of vanilla ice cream too. If you go for one, you definitely need to save room. It's huge, nearly the size of a complete meal. There are 8 types of tap beers but they have quite a few more varieties in bottles. Of course, they also have a full bar, equipped to make nearly every type of mixed drink. The service was excellent - friendly & prompt. The prices are very reasonable. Finally, Oak Roads has special events like a car show twice a year. I'd probably come here frequently for breakfast if I lived closer. Thumbs up! -Maxx

Solid breakfast food at what some might call a greasy spoon. We enjoyed our breakfasts and the friendly service at this local bar and grill.

    Classic breakfast, all day!

Loved the classic breakfast. The hash brown was good. It's more of a local pub and grill. Bf and another friend got the endless fish fry and they were good. Server was nice and attentive. It was packed on a Friday afternoon during lunch time.

    Ribs and more!

The first TWO visits we were served The California Burger. That must have been a mistake as the Third Tuesday we went there we were told "It's only a Cheeseburger, Fries, and a beer or soft drink" . Any lettuce, onion, etc was .50 extra per topping. We were surprised and confused by this information. Apparently we 'Offended and HARASSED THE WAIT STAFF' In our subsequent visits SOMEHOW. I learned this April 30,2024 after I ordered a Cheeseburger to go that night which was BLOODY RAW ! Why were we served again and again for over two months without hearing a word about these over-the-top allegations? I will never understand or know as we were UNINVITED TO EVER RETURN. AS THE STAFF MAY DENY US SERVICE? Good Riddance " The PONDS " You don't deserve our money

Every table that someone left was immediately filled while we were there. It was clean and we were offered drinks as soon as we sat down. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer I got the chicken, bacon, ranch salad and my husband got the fish fry. The fish was crispy and they were very generous with the toppings on my salad. The grilled chicken was not dry. People of all ages were enjoying themselves. It wasn't too noisy.

To run through the evening courses let's start with the opening app and cocktail. The Chips & Dip, house made seasoned chips with a perfect Blue Cheese dip with caramelized shallots, I suggest ordering an extra cup of the dip as there are an abundance of chips. My first cocktail was perfect or shall we say a "Pear-Fect Manhattan". This play on the Manhattan had a hint of pear and was spirit forward. We continued the evening with two sharable plates, the first was the Tenderloin Steak Bites served with a perfect Wasabi Kimchi Sauce. As tender as it was, the steak could have used more seasoning or being marinated in that delicious sauce. The second sharable was the Chile Seared Shrimp, placed atop delicious Cheesy Grits, very yummy. The evening ended with the most amazing dessert and paired cocktail. By all means, do yourself a favor and indulge in the most decadent Butter Cake drizzled in a Bourbon Caramel Sauce paired with a Amaretto Sour cocktail. You wouldn't necessarily know it, but the White Rabbit nestled in this strip mall sets itself up with the ambiance as a high end establishment.
