This restaurant was the original Cafe Republic on North Beach. The food is a good ole classic brunch with above average expectations. The bacon is not the basic extremely thin bacon you would expect from a basic breakfast, it's nice and thick. The staff is extremely friendly and if you come here enough this staff will probably know who you are after 2-3 times. They are all very personable. We met our grandson at Oak Street Cafe this morning about 11. Had never been there before, so we weere very happy they take reservations! Seemed odd at first to reserve for breakfast, but they were very busy. We're in NW FT and the drive took about a 20 minutes. It was so worth it! Always looking for good places for breakfast! At 11, they add lunch to their daily menu.... Husband and our grandson had the Classic breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrown, and toast. I had a club sandwich wrap with fries, grandkids split a Texas shaped Belgian waffle with fruit. The guys said their breakfasts were excellent, my wrap sandwich was great as well. But the two menu standouts for us were the hash browns and the fries. Hash browns usually are just flat soft shredded potatoes that are crisped on the outside. Not here! These were crisp all the way through with, yes some soft parts, but the crispness was commingled through out the side. The fries that came with my wrap were coated and seasoned and very crisp! I loved them! Sevice was excellent! People vey nice. Clean and comfortable inside. Parking on the street, or in the lot beside the restaurant. Definitely make a reservation, especially if there are more than four of you. Place was very busy. Do try it, you won't be sorry! read more

I really enjoyed breakfast at Oak St Cafe. We came in with a large party and were initially told that it would be a longer wait time, but they were able to accommodate our group quickly! We all tried so many different menu options and they all turned out great! This location is spacious, clean and has both indoor and outdoor seating. Found this cute cafe when I was in the area visiting a friend. It was very busy and there seemed to be a different server for every table almost. A man who may have been the owner went around to each table and ensured they were being taken care of. I ordered the garden skillet. I expected it to come out "sizzling" as most skillets do, but this one did not. In fact, the cheese wasnt even really melted and the ingredients were different temperatures as if they had all been cooked separately. I did mention this to my server and she asked if I wanted them to remake it but I chose not to. It was edible and I didn't want to wait longer. There were quite a few "regulars" who got VIP treatment from all the staff it seemed. Overall I enjoyed my time, would recommend this place to anyone looking for a yummy breakfast! read more

Had a fantastic brunch here midweek. While I made a reservation, it was pretty quiet around 12:30 p.m. so we were seated immediately and the server came right over to check on us and take our drink orders. She was always timely checking on us throughout our meal and was very friendly. We also ran a few items by her to see what her opinion was. She was honest and helped us to make our ultimate decisions which we are very happy with. I opted for the chicken fried chicken breakfast meal and left feeling satisfied with both the quality and the quantity I got. Portions are more than generous here and I was not able to finish my meal. The chicken was fried well and was juicy. I asked for soft scrambled eggs and crispy hash browns and they delivered on both of those requests as well. All in all we had a very enjoyable meal here and would definitely come back to try out some of the other items on the robust menu. read more

This is Tom and Jerry's breakfast reviews. We're always looking for award winning cinnamon rolls(hard to find). We had breakfast at Oak St. 8/9/26. Healthy portions for sure.. Scrambles eggs, crispy bacon(crispy requested), and a pancake on Tom's side. The eggs were good although obviously served put of a large serving tray of pre cooked eggs. The bacon wasn't as Crispy as I like but still edible and the pancake with maple syrup was fluffy and delicious. The American omelet for Jerry's with hash browns on the side. Delicious with fresh avocado and tomato. Jerry raved over the biscuit(of all things) and said the coffee was good but not as good as his homemade brew.. the service was great, plenty of staff and the owner/mgr was on hand walking the floor. Well above average for a newer breakfast stop. We would give it a higher rating but, no cinnamon rolls on the menu for Jerry to smile about...watch your step on the way out... read more

We stopped in here for the first time last week, and everything about this place was wonderful (the food, atmosphere, and wait staff)! The Greek omelette (breakfast) and the Melted Rye (lunch) were cooked to perfection and delicious. The coffee was the perfect temperature and taste. The restaurant is clean, cute, and inviting. strange vibes in this place. decos do not match the Roanoke demographics at all. condescending tone from our waitress which obviously is an anomaly but worth mentioning. will say everyone greeted us as we entered so that was a switch from normal restaurants. greetings seemed sincere. food had no seasoning at all, very bland. used alot of salt and pepper which I rarely do. hyped diced potatoes were not worth the hype. biscuits and/or gravy had unusual after- taste. could easily become a winner in this very odd downtown due to location and building aesthetics but poor Roanoke now has such unusual zoning, not sure. overall we were greatly disappointed. will not return. read more
