I don't know much about cars and they really don't interest me. But every time I go to a car shop I feel like I'm getting charged for things that I'm not getting. But Mr. Al was very honest and the pricing was very affordable. Ask for Mr. Al! I went in for a state inspection and an oil change and I was in and out in no time. SCAM ALERT!!!!! Don't come here if you want your car to run when they are done with it.... Because it will leave way more screwed up than when it got there. They have one mechanic and he came from PepBoys where they hire high school kids and no they are not ASE certified so that sign on A L's building is false advertising. Plus it shows A L 's lack of respect for the customer by not being truthful. Anyway we have a 2010 Hyundai genesis that needed a timing chain and valve job. A L assured me he knew what he was doing and quoted between 900 and 1600. ONE MONTH LATER A L calls for us to pick up the car. She pays, he OVERCHARGED the bill was almost 2000 dollars. I follow my gf home and realize the break lights werent working. I inspect and find one of the lights had been smashed in... hmmmmmm I think a "profressional" like A L Makki would have spotted that before he took our money and let us drive away. I KNOW HE KNEW BUT HE LET HER DRIVE OFF ANYWAY. We go back immediately and show A L the damage. Like clockwork he goes "ohhhhh we didn't do that you must have done it" knowing damn well he was lying. So I get really upset at this point and pretty much force him to keep the car and fix his mistake. This takes them a week and A L calling my gf a liar daily but it got fixed. He still charged for bulbs what a joke. ONE WEEK LATER The car has been running for a bit over a week now and makes the famous Hyundai timing chain noise and symptoms of failing and sure enough the car is dead AGAIN. Towed it back to Oakland auto and explained the 1 year warranty to A L as he is " not" dumb enough to know how those work right? THREE DAYS LATER Typical shitty shop owners response. A L blaims my gf for the damage. Not his shitty mechanics or owning up to his mistake like a MAN and pretty much told her he's not gonna fix it and to get it out of his shop. I unfortunately have to do this for others to know (I have never written a bad review for any company before this). I do know quite a bit about cars, I'm just not a mechanic and don't know how to fix things. Here's exactly what happened to me and you will see how mechanics classically rip people off: I brought in my truck with two complaints: 1) there is a leak in my transmission 2) my truck will not shift from 2nd to 3rd, the RPMs just go through the roof when I'm trying to speed up They tell me two transmission lines were broken that were hitting up against my transmission to cause the leak. They said they can fix that. Me, not being a mechanic, figured that would resolve the issue. The total cost of fixing the leak and lines was $540. I paid them the money. They did in fact fix the transmission leak and the lines. They said specially over the phone my truck is good to go and I should be fine to drive on the freeway, and that it's ready to be picked up. However, I drove off the lot and onto the freeway. They did not resolve the big issue of my truck not shifting gears properly (it still did not shift from 2nd to 3rd gear). As mechanics, they had to of known full well that fixing the lines would not resolve the issue. Yet, they went ahead and did that work anyway to get the $540 out of me. I paid them half a grand and the issue was not fixed. If this place was ethical, then they would not have gone through with the repairs that would not fix the main problem. This is the precise way mechanics rip people off. I was stunned. There was nothing I could do. I am 25 years old, that kind of money hurts me badly. And my truck is still broken. I was taken advantage of. You could be too. The problem may not necessarily lie with the workers, but the owner. I have already spoken with others who live in my neighborhood about what happened (meadowbrook) and they shook their head in dismay, they knew about that place. But I didn't. Now you do. Please do not take your vehicle here, THEY ARE FRAUDLENT AND NOT HONEST. I brought my to them to fix what I thought was the alternator. After they ran "the diagnostics" the owner called to state it is the belt that needs replacing only. I paid 209.10 for the belt plus labor I also had them replace a light bulb. 12 hours later the very belt they replaced comes off and I am stranded again. I call them they go tow the vehicle, after checking the car they call to state there is an additional pully that needs to be fixed and want to charge me an additional 200 dollars [part and labor including] and the fee of the tow they used to retrieve my vehicle. Do not go them I ended up paying the additional tow and the car still was not fixed. They are FRAUDULENT and not honest read more
