This place is good for that but is great for the young guys that are truly making a go at a career in the sport. The young thirsty guys add to energy and vibe of this place. Instructors are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and above all supportive. Makes me smile thinking about the instructors walking around during sparring with direction and positive energy and feedback. This place has been open for a while and has been producing champions and professional grade martial artists. My guess is that many more champions will be born here over the years and that this place will receive more and more recognition globally as an MMA institution that produces the best out there! We also got accused of sneaking people into the back gyms. We are 16, and despite the fact that people under 16 were in the back it doesn't mean that WE snuck them in. Rather than yelling at us, they should have sorted out the situation in a calm way. We have memberships to this place, and pay a lot of money just to get treated like this?? We tried to explain, but we were threatened to be kicked out if we didn't listen to them. Please fix this, and hire more reasonable people. There's no reason for that lady to risk a heart attack just because of the fact that some younger kids are in a gym. (Who are NOT associated with us)

Stopped by the mats with my daughter while we were on vacation, not knowing what to expect. We were…read morepleasantly surprised. The facility is well-lit and exceptionally clean. I had no reservations about stepping onto the mat. The coaches were outstanding. They made us feel welcome and helped us sharpen our skills. Coach Oscar taught my daughter's class and provided excellent instruction. He made sure she understood the techniques being taught and maintained a safe learning environment. Coach Cardo taught the adult class. He asked what I had been working on at my home gym (open guard) and then tailored the class around drilling those concepts. After I attempted an armbar, he gave me some great pointers on nuances I had missed. He even had me grab my phone so I could record him demonstrating the technique for future reference. Overall, it was a great experience. When I'm back in the area, I'll definitely train here again.

I felt respected, challenged (both mentally and physically) and I learned a lot! Many academy's are dark, stinky and ugly... not The Mats! The facilities are absolutely amazing and coach Cardo did a great job of explaining the sport. For me, it made such a difference to train with a BJJ coach who has knowledge of the biomechanics of the body and an amazing teaching style. I would recommend this gym to anyone who is looking for a better training environment, wants to train hard and get good!
