With a couple food trucks in addition to vendors, I've found this to have the most hot food dining options for those who go to the market to do more than shop. This market also has pretty much anything you'd need for a meal. One note, it is so popular that I've seen a tent and a food truck sell out before they close for the day so you may want to go early. There are a few benches that provide good seating, which can allow for taking this market at a bit of a slower pace than you might others. Only note, it can get extremely congested, as I feel this is one of the most popular markets in the Bay, if you want something more sprawling I'd suggest Old Oakland, but otherwise no complaints. They eat A LOT - they eat fresh veggies like lettuce everyday so that's the main reason I found House of Produce (HOP). I needed a good go-to place for fresh produce near home. Due to shelter-in-place... I've also been frequenting the Ace Hardware next door to HOP, but that's another story! This spot is small but packs a punch! They have most grocery items you might need: eggs, milk, dairy + alternatives. Obviously, they have produce - they have your standard stuff and also some bok choy and few other Asian produce items. They also have some household items you might need in a pinch, things like dishwasher soap or other cleaning supplies. My biggest shoutout goes to their supply of some Asian grocery items! They have a decent variety of different instant noodles (when you just need that cheap comfort food), and they have all sorts of spices and sauces. I am 1/2 Filipino and cook sinigang sometimes - they have the Tamarind Soup Mix by Knorr which is used as the base of the sinigang soup by many including myself haha. If you haven't tried sinigang, trust me, you need it in your life! Soooo good. Also, the ladies who work here always say hi and how are you, they are friendly and you feel good about supporting them :) Prices are also very reasonable and competitive. Pro tip, avoid paying for street parking and go one street above (north of) MacArthur around the corner from HOP. Park somewhere in front of someone's home in the neighborhood and just walk!

This market is on the smaller side but offers a reasonable selection of produce as well as items such as Tamales, Seafood and more. I would offer a suggestion though. If dogs are truly prohibited, place a sign at the bottom of the street as well as the top of the street. We entered from the bottom with our "Princess" and walked all the way through. A couple of people looked at me but didn't say anything. When I got to the top, I saw a sandwich board sign stating, "No Dogs; No Smoking; No Smoking Dogs" and "Service Dogs are Welcome". Conversely, if no one really cares, get rid of the sign at the top of the hill. While my wife walked down the hill to look at the other stalls, I walked around the block and returned to the bottom of the market, just to check for a sign that I may have missed. No sign. I'm not going to lie and say that our dog is a "service dog" because she's not. At the same time, I don't like the idea that I was "breaking" a "rule" that I wasn't aware of.

Why, you ask? It has everything you need. The vendors are kind. It's easy to park, friendly to seniors and children alike. Next door is a liquor store where you can pick up pairings for your farmers' market inspired meal. Protip: get two baguettes from Crispian bakery. They're delicious. Corn in season is amazing. Salmon from the fish vendor is expensive but way cheaper than if you had like quality in a restaurant. The spacing between tents are decently far apart, making it very stroller friendly. However pursuant to California's Health & Safety Code, dogs are not allowed. So make sure to leave your furry babies at home. We got a box of delicious organic strawberries here for $20, as well as some fresh bread and pastry.
