Honestly we have come here out of convenience. It's not great and it's not terrible. We liked it better when Cameron worked here. He was attentive and helpful every time we would come but not that he's no longer here the service has gone down hill fast. We came in and there's never really a good explanation for anything. On top of that they keep our car from the time they open til about 10 minutes to closing and we have to call them! They never call and say hey your car is ready we can send an uber to come get you. They sold three different used cars, 30k each (including high priced warranty), via three different lenders to the same ID thief, who stole my partner's ID and used a combination of bank/credit and insurance and fake local address info from other people. This happened during 2 weeks in September 2025, and we are just now getting close to cleaning up the mess. This has been extremely stressful, but at least the loan and credit monitoring companies have all confirmed our dispute. We've never been to Oakland, we have no friends or family there, and we've lived over 2000 miles from California for over 20 years. We have no idea what happened to the vehicles. The sale went semi rocky ( trying to load up the contract with extra items that I didn't want) They said they would order a second key for the Niro, but when I came back to pick it up, they said the previous owner never returned the key and the cost would hundreds of dollars. I just purchased a Kia Niro 2025 here and the brakes are already squeaking! After several messages to the service department, I finally managed to make an appt, but it's very disappointing to have to deal with this in the FIRST month of car ownership. According to the service tech, it's a common problem on the Kias but c'mon! Also, the car came with LoJack even though I never asked for it. We did not have a good customer service experience here. The written quote didn't come with any explanation and included a LoJack which we didn't ask for. Took a while to be helped and just didn't have the warmth or professionalism of other dealerships in the area like VW. We went to Hyundai after coming here and got a new EV in a few hours. We liked the Kia and would have purchased but for the poor and impersonal customer service. The woman at the front desk was nice but just gave us a quick run down of the car and the keys for a test drive-she didn't do the sales part or talk to us about different trim levels and pricing for lease vs buy. Negative stars, if I could help it. I've been trying to negotiate a lease deal for a Kia EV9 over the last few days. Since I didn't get a response for over 24 hours, I reached out again by email today. The manager, James Portlock, called me up specifically to ask "what the hell you want, when I've sent you a thousand quotes; my workers are really busy and can't keep sending you a thousand quotes because we have other buyers." To be clear, they had to sent me 4 versions of the quote because they couldn't get the details right on what I wanted, which was a 24-month lease with a zero down for 10,000 miles. Also, I was blatantly lied to when I asked them to bring down the money factor since we have excellent credit saying that the money factor is tied to the car and not the buyer's credit worthiness. How about we try to get the job done right on the first attempt next time and not be an asshole to the customer? read more

Lines for service were quite long on Monday. My Kia wasn't taking a charge for more than a couple of minutes. I took the next available appointment on Thursday, disappointed that Kia had not been able to work in a quick check. This Tuesday morning, I received a call from Daniel in service, who hooked my Kia up to the computer. Delighted with my first experience buying a car at Oakland Kia. My wife and I walked in on a Saturday morning exploring the possibility of leasing a Kia EV6. The Sales Manager Mo Zaher was a pleasure to work with. Mo had several 2023 EV6-GTs that he was offering at similar prices to upscale 2024 models which do not compare to the GT. Anyway Mo set us up with, I think, a fair deal for a 15k/yr lease and we knew where we stood on Saturday. We agreed I would return on Sunday morning. On Sunday, sure enough my red GT was ready in the showroom. Mo and I finalized details of the lease and signed the deal. With the Fed tax credit and some stuff Mo threw in it was affordable. I didn't think I would be leaving with the GT model which has been my dream car for a while. That wasn't the end! Dante then took over from Mo and went to a lot trouble explaining the car operation to me. Also setting up the Kia app on my phone and so on. Also he mentioned that If I ever needed help with anything to just return and ask. He also offered to put on the permanent plates when they arrive. I explained I was looking for a used EV, either Kia or another brand, and this was my first time driving/seeing these cars. I also explained I would not be be ready to buy for at least a couple of weeks. James was great: no pressure whatsoever, just factual replies to my questions. Truthfully I think this place is dishonest. I brought my car in for routine service in May. Opted for the suggested 40k mile service with an oil change which came out to over $300. At that time I mentioned that my car was failing to start sometimes and that most times it needed a jump. It is then suggested that I pay an additional $230 for diagnostics "but it sounds like a battery issue". I asked if the 40k service came with a battery test. I'm told no. Finally, I'm told that they will test the battery at no additional charge. They do the service, I get my car back and I am told "your battery is fine." My car is still having problems. Finally, in July. After much consideration, I fork over the $230 for a diagnostic... can you guess what they tell me?? "You need a battery replacement. It'll cost $298+tax." Why I was told my battery was fine, just 2 months prior?? I don't know. Perhaps to trick me into having to pay a diagnostic fee? Either way, that seems super shady to me. On top of everything else, the service advisor Kameron, has no sense of customer service and always seems bothered to help or answer any questions. Because of this experience, I'm seriously considering trading in this 2018 Kia. Not only has it had tons of issues already but it's extremely high-maintenance. And if that wasn't enough, then having to deal with the service center always giving me a laundry list of things to pay for and I haven't even had this thing for more than 2 years. This is our 2nd Kia we've purchased, so we are obviously fans of the brand. The cars are as reliable as their reputation and getting the car serviced has always been smooth. We normally go to Concord but ended up in Oakland to test drive a model they happen to have on the lot. Our salesperson was Charles Bonds and he was so easy and chill to work with. I think he only works on weekends but if you are like me and don't want to have any of the car buying pressure, I would seek him out specifically. He took so much time explaining each feature of the car and sat separately with my husband and I so that we both understood how everything worked. The entire staff at Oakland Kia were very nice so I don't want to discount them, but Charles was just so relaxed and made what can be a stressful event so much easier. I have been going to Concord Kia's Service department for six years and have always had excellent service there. My engine light was on and they said it might be an all day appointment. Since I needed to work that day, I decided to take it to Oakland Kia instead since they are closer to where I work. BIG MISTAKE. During the so-called multipoint inspection they found several issues. I had them repair everything. The next day my tire light turned on and my car was squealing. I immediately contacted Oakland Kia in order to have these items repaired. No one picked up the phone. So, I left a message. I told them that I felt unsafe to drive it with this squealing and I was concerned about the new light that was on. Initially, I thought this was an honest mistake, and figured they would call me back to repair the problem. I was mistaken. I left 3 additional voice mails between that day and the next day. I also tried calling without leaving a message dozens of times over the next two days. I had my friend call from her phone. I called the sales department and told them what was going on. The gentleman who answered the phone said he would transfer me and hopefully they would pick up if it was a transferred call. NO ONE EVER PICKED UP THE PHONE and NO ONE EVER RETURNED MY CALL. We called during business hours. So, they were open. This whole situation started the process of me finding out that they had really taken advantage of my lack of knowledge about cars. It was over $1,000 and a very expensive lesson. Because they would not answer the phone, my friend, who is a mechanic, looked at my car. Here is what I found out: Oakland Kia changed the cabin air filter. However, my friend told me the hose clamp on the air hose to the air box was very loose. He said dirt could get into the engine from that being loose which would cause a lot of problems with my engine. So, he tightened it up. It took him less than a minute to fix this problem that could have caused major damage to my car. I had a nail in one of my tires (according to Oakland Kia). So, they replaced the tire. The tire that was replaced had only 25 pounds of air. While the old tires had the proper amount at 33 pounds, the new tire did not have the correct amount of air in it. So, it caused the TPMS light to come on. My friend filled the tire up properly. Also, I found out that the original tire should have been patched, not replaced. So, I overpaid for something I did not need. Moreover, I did not know that you need to have the same tires on the front and the mismatched tires on the front axle is not industry standard. So, now I need to go somewhere else to buy new tires so that they match! The Serpentine belt was replaced at Oakland Kia and they did not install it properly. It was loose and caused the car to squeal. Once again, my friend showed me the problem and tightened it up. It took him maybe a minute to tighten. He told me if it stayed loose, it would cause problems for MANY aspects of my car. Also, Oakland Kia told me they were going to inspect the oil. They did not include that on the list and it turns out that my oil does indeed need to be changed-AND the oil that was there was an inch too high, which apparently is not good for the engine either. They should have caught that. My window washer container had maybe an inch left of fluid in it. While this is not going to cause a safety issue with the car, it is very irritating that they did not catch it. My friend filled it up. Now I am out the $1,000 and my friend made my car safe (It literally took him maybe 30 minutes total to do the work that Oakland Kia should have done in the first place. In essence, Oakland Kia left everything half done. Had it not been caught, my car would potentially have had serious issues in the near future. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO OAKLAND KIA. THIS WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON. THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY APPALLING SERVICE. I will be writing this letter to Oakland Kia and to the parent company, and posting it on Yelp, as well. read more

I purchased a 2022 Kia Forte GT line with premium package today and all I can say is WOW. What an amazing dealership. I have been shopping around for this car for about month. I contacted Steve Hallstrom at Kia Oakland and within about an hour he gave me a price out the door that I could not pass up. He had me do a few things for financing prior to arriving. He came back with my loan options. I drove to the dealership and within about 10 minutes I had keys in hand. Steve then took the next 20 minutes going over all the features of the car (wow there are so many). I just want to give a HUGE shout out to Oakland Kia and Steve for making this process seamless and pain free.
