The car "runs" as in the engine works. Upon driving the car the many issues and faults of the car were obvious to me, but I wondered how honest owner Joe, or his actual name, Hossein, would be. As predicted he acted like he knew nothing about the cars plethora of issues. He lied about many things on the cars condition or need for repair. No one here seems to know anything about the cars they sell. Except they do; they're fully aware they're selling lemons. If you ask why say, the car you're test driving rattles above 60mph, you'll be told "it's normal". It is in fact not Normal. If you have the knowledge and means to fix a car up, you might try to reason with the guy like we did. He'll then say your offer was unreasonable and send you the Kelly blue book value for the car as if it isn't essentially fully broken. To bring him back to reality you send an itemized list of all the urgent repairs the car needs costing upwards of 2500. He'll then leave you on read. Someone else with less knowledge about cars, less financial stability, and in a more vulnerable situation will be taken advantage of, and buy that same terrible car. The auto doctor cycle goes on. If you're in the neighborhood keep an eye on how slow this place moves cars. It's because the staff are spineless liars. I've been purchasing cars from Auto Doctor for the last ten years. the auto I've purchased have been durable and reliable. several autos were purchased by friends and family of which I sent to talk with Joe and he has made them very happy with the cars they purchased. Three of the four cars purchased in 2014 are still on the road and running well, owned by the purchaser several years ago. My boyfriend purchased a car from here about two months ago and has already ran into a multitude of issues. He already has to purchase a new transmission, which will cost him upwards of $1700 and he has already invested $2000 into this vehicle that's over 10 years old. I use to think these guys were legit. Not even close. I had looked at several cars on their lot. They were always working on them. Always That should have been a red flag. But I picked up a family car anyway. I needed it. 30 day warranty. I had troubles to start. Several warning lights and things not working on day 1. Getting the car back to them to work on is hard when it's the only car you have. They don't have loaners. And they know these cars have problems. Exactly one week after the 30 day warranty the engine blew out. called Joe. The 1st thing he said was you are past the 30 day warranty. I made 1 payment on this car and now it's a paper weight. I called to ask about the in house financing for a vehicle and was automatically asked my age and that a need a co-signer. I was told that I needed a work history of 2 years which is perfect because I've been working for a long time. I bought a car from this hell hole and two weeks later the starter went out. I called the owner Joe to have the car fixed because I had a warranty. This guy gave me the run around about fixing it so finally I had a mechanic I knew to fix it (which per my warranty is legal). Joe was upset that I took it upon myself to have the car fixed because that amount had to be deducted from my payments. Also prior to the starter going out I called and told them I noticed a really loud vibration on the left driver side I was told it would be looked. For weeks they could not to get in touch with there mechanic they kept scheduling appointments for me to bring in the car and then canceling them. Finally they were able to get someone to look at the car and the mechanic did not want to tell me what was wrong with the car instead he spoke in private to the owner. Once they returned I asked again what was wrong with the car the owner shouted at me if I wanted a new car I should have gone to the Honda dealership. 2 months later I was driving home from work on the freeway and something fell off the car and it clunked out. Run. Just run. We went and test drove an '89 Honda Accord that they have for sale now Nov 2014 on craigslist. The guy emailed me and wanted $4000 for it. It's not in Kelly because it too old, but a 94 Accord with the same 88k miles from the dealer was listed around $2800. This is 5 years older, so they want basically double blue book. The body and interior were in good shape. You could tell they went all through it and the part you could see was nice. Driving it wasn't so good. The power steering fluid reservoir was way low from a leak somewhere so it turned hard. The guy offered to put some fluid in but that doesn't fix the leak, now does it? The A/C didn't blow cold and only had a couple psi of refrigerant in it, so that had all leaked out too. Originally cars that age ran on R12 refrigerant but it had been retroifit to R134A. When you do a retrofit you're supposed to change the oil and seal so they're compatible with the new oil and refrigerant. If you just change refrigerants it will probably leak out, which is what a lot of guys do, so I figure the A/C would be problematic at best to fix. My background is in refrigeration so I know just a little something about this. But the here comes the REAL STINKER. When we took the cover off the air cleaner housing there was about half a quart of oil coating the housing and air cleaner. Probably a really bad case of blowby. There's a reason people get rid of old cars y'know. The guy said they had just changed the engine. Maybe they did and screwed it up, or maybe they didn't and they had hoped nobody would notice the engine was ruined. It sure wouldn't pass smog running like that so I don't see how they think the buyer wouldn't notice. But anyway, they wanted twice blue book for this pos? Seriously? I'm posting this because they only had one review before I went and test drove it, which was positive. Now they have a second review telling you "the rest of the storyl." I wasn't warned but now you have been! So Run! JUST RUN!!! read more

I talked to Joe and he set me up with a good car (honda civ) and even threw in a 30 day warranty which isnt normal as most used cars are As-Is sales. He came in on his day off Sunday and since the bank was not open let me come back the next day with the cash. I rode the bart into Berkeley and drove home the same day :) Ill definitely be returning if I am in need of wheels fast again in the future.
