A bunch of trees parachuted out of a plane. We found all of them except for the Oak. So now we need to know: Where did the Oak land? This is a little old mall that reminds me of the old days of shopping malls. I can imagine 30 years ago this would have been a Shopper's Paradise and these days it just looks kind of dingy and run down like an industrial estate, claustrophobic, crowded, and out of date AF. Depressing or nostalgic, you decide... and when you get inside it's kind of funny. The layout just doesn't correlate with what you expect from a mall. Not these days anyway. But still has plenty of stores and plenty of good stuff. Reminds me of an old English shopping centre in some ways, in a good way perhaps. A "precinct" as we used to call them. I've shopped at several stores in this mall and the Victoria's Secret was probably the most memorable experience although I didn't end up buying anything here because they didn't have much of a selection. Kind of like we don't have much of a selection as to whether we live or die. Just a natural selection.

Multi level mall with lots of entrance points. Location is great for meeting up, walking and people watching. Tons of open space and natural lighting. Can't wait to see it in 20 years, I bet the new Italian owner turns it into an awesome knock off of Somerset!

Malls seem to be coming a bit of a ghost town. Oakland is your average mall. It's clean, has ample parking and lots of stores that my kids and I frequent. This mall has more affordable stores than Somerset in Troy. We visited to look for my daughter's homecoming dress. She wanted to get a head start before they were picked over. As far as food, we stopped at Starbucks for a quick drink and my daughter's adore Aunt Annie's for fresh pretzels. This is my go to place for shopping when I don't order online.

This place used to be so packed and now it's really become second to other malls in the area like Great Lakes and Lakeside but especially Somerset. In my opinion, it's tougher to shop at Somerset than here. For men's clothing, definitely recommend Sears. Everything in the men's sections are 20-25 dollars or less per shirt which is great. Along with JcPenney and sometimes Kohls, it's good to get quality clothing. Food court is nothing fancy like Somerset's but does have all the essentials including a Panda. A lot of popular brands have closed shop here over the last few years but they still have express and a good number of mainstream mall stores. We need to see this place back up to the way it used to be as well as a competitor to Somerset. A lot of the prices are great!!!

JC penny's does a really good job of displaying great looking shoes and clothing that isn't in stock.

Small mall but still fun if you only have a few hours and don't want to walk forever in a huge mall!

Its a mall pretty much like the others here. It has the basics Sears, JC Penney and Macy's.

I grew up going there and I get my haircut at boscos. Plus their FYE is awesome if you want to buy movies!

Leon & Lulu are the owners' dog and cat. I discovered that when I told my associate, Susan, that I…read morewas taking photos for Yelp. I was then given an impromptu tour that I truly enjoyed. The store is full of eclectic and vibrant decor that will speak to the hearts of artists everywhere, ranging from clothing, to furniture, to toys and museum quality gifts. It has a variety of quirky finds that I've never seen before. The intention here is almost like a local gallery exalting each stunning piece of art, no matter how small. The pieces ranged from the very tiny porcelain dog, which was about the size of your thumb, to the very large bears, that were furry and taller than me. Colorful, diverse art dotted the walls and were displayed in all different living room themes for all different tastes and styles of home. This was a clever idea. You could picture the decor in your own home. "Buy local" is the intention here and deteriorating properties were bought up by the owner and given a stunning facelift to elevate the community. This was a closed down roller rink. There was also a cinema next door that turned to a gift shop and off beat eatery. The unique history of each is preserved in the original artifacts throughout. Being that this is art focused and unique, don't have the expectation of Walmart prices. Of course you're getting one-of-a-kind quality pieces that will make your heart sing when you see your selected art displayed proudly in your home. Leon & Lulu also will give you a discount for your birthday if you share that information. If you're in Ferndale, Clawson or Detroit, put this store on your must visit list.

I have to give credit to my wife for finding this place. She heard about it from a colleague and it…read moredid not disappoint. If you're looking for something unique, funny, fun, or more of a traditional purchase then this place is for you. We were able to purchase some very cool gifts for friends and family that were tailored to their personality. The shop's staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed them and they were also pretty available when we needed someone even though they were a bit busy. As for the prices I would put them on par for a place that sells the selection that this place has. You can find some items that are cheaper (not cheaply made), and other items that are pretty high (saw a pillow for around $300 ). I will definitely be putting this place on my list of shops to go for the next time I need to shop for friends and family!
