Not wanting to wait that long, I was told they had openings at the Henry Ford Medical Center in West Bloomfield for the following Monday so I decided to take it. This Medical Center is located at the southwest corner of Farmington Road and Maple Road, just after a traffic circle. Assess is easy and parking is adequate. There are other specialties resident at this location as well. As you enter from outside there are kiosks for you to do express check in if you like. I bypassed because I saw the entrance to dermatology immediately past the lobby entrance. I was quickly checked in, given a form to fill out, and sat waiting to be called. Everything went rather smoothly.

Apparently, when a sick patient recently arrived for a scheduled appointment, the staff turned them away because they were sick (could be COVID you know, or not). Requesting that they at least talk to the doctor about their illness via teleconference during their scheduled appointment time, they were seemingly told NO, the doctor can't talk to you (too busy - even though the visit was scheduled?)! So... it seems you should only go to the doctor if you are feeling well... If you can brave the Soviet-style receptionists or somehow sneak past them, the rest is fine.

Excellent doctors, and front desk staff are mostly ok, but when you call to speak with a nurse to get a prescription refill or because of an issue with a prescription? Be prepared for astonishingly awful customer service. I've had nurses who were utterly rude, condescending, and outright hostile when I had a simple question about a possible drug interaction, or just to ask the doctor for a different prescription because of a medical issue. Everyone understands that some medical staff / nurses become jaded and cynical because of the types of drugs that people abuse (which is also not acceptable), but I'm talking about *routine prescriptions* here, like statins and antibiotics. It's appalling how shoddy their listening skills and interpersonal skills are. They are sorely lacking in manners and do not listen. If I didn't like my doctor so much, I would go elsewhere because of the rudeness of the staff. Here's hoping that the doctors and managers weed out the rude staff members and keep the good ones. I avoid calling there because I don't want to deal with them. What a shame.

Horrible experience at Unisource. I arrived with my elderly mother for a knee replacement. I had a…read morewell trained and very polite service dog with me. When checking in they said nothing about the dog being a problem. They took my mother back to prep her for her surgery. The RN Sandy then came and told me I needed to put my dog in the car so I could go see my mother. It was 80 degrees out so this was not going to be an option and not safe for my dog. As this would also be considered animal cruelty to bake my dog in the car. An 80 degree car parked in the sun turns into 123 degree. So I did not get to see my mother before surgery. After surgery Rn Sandy came out and told me to take my legitimate service dog home or again put her in the hot car. My mom and I both live over an hour away. So this was not an option. RN Sandy never asked me about my dog. According to ADA law they are allowed to ask me 2 question about my service dog. Rn Sandy never did this. Instead the RN that was taking care of my mother asked my confused elderly mother about my dog. This is against ADA law. The RN also asked what my reaction was to my allergen which is against HIPPA law. My reaction has nothing to do with me needing my service dog and is none of anyone's business. Since I was not allowed to go back to see my mother after her surgery I do not feel I was given adequate discharge instructions. Instead they gave my subpare instructions in the lobby in front of all the other family and at the back room of the building where the automatic door kept opening and closing and interrupting the instructions. My mom felt very alone and scared since I could not be by her side for comfort. So this facility doesn't know or follow ADA law for service dogs instead they are making up their own rules. Horrible experience. Rn Sandy was extremely rude and very unprofessional. She yelled at me in the lobby that my dog was not allowed back to see my mom and when I tried to explain the law she just walked away. Rn Sandy needs to be educated on ADA law for people with a disability. The entire staff walked by where I was sitting and gave dirty glares the entire time I was at the building. The only person nice to me and my mom was the physical therapist. I have reported them to the ADA and filed a complaint. Just to give some information on my dog she is an allergen detection dog, and she also retrieves dropped items, closes doors, and provides balance for me. She has had over 3 years of professional training.

I went to a drive thru urgent care to get a Covid test and they tried to charge me $140 since I have no insurance, so I left. Called a different urgent care for a Covid test, they said it would cost me $200. Unbelievable.. $200 to tell me whether I'm sick or not? I'd rather quarantine at that point. Welcome to Berkley urgent care! I was recommended here by a friend and wow when I tell you how different his phone call felt. I called about a test and they took down all my information and said they would call me back about details. Within an hour a doctor called me, talked me, set up a Covid test and prescribed me medicine. Even the nurse who gave me the Covid test was so sweet. I wasn't charged a penny for my Covid test and my medicine was pretty cheap. There are angels here. I highly recommend.

I called today after reviewing my results because the test I requested was not performed. I was open to discussing it, but that didn't seem to be the case on her end. I explained that the vitamin D test drawn was not the correct one for checking deficiency--it was done correctly during my visit in 2025. She insisted it was the same test and even stated that the system we were both looking at showed the same thing, as if I did not understand what I was reviewing. However, the system clearly shows otherwise. The test that was ordered was for hormone/active vitamin D levels, not for deficiency. If this is a small mistake--and I understand that mistakes can happen--the issue for me is that there was no willingness to acknowledge or correct it. There was also no consideration that the lab itself may have made an error. It took from Saturday to Tuesday just to receive the result of one blood test. After working a 12-hour shift, I came in because I had already been told the wrong test was done. While I understand other patients need care and didn't mind waiting, I was ultimately ignored instead of having a simple conversation to address the issue. After some time, I decided to leave and go to another urgent care for more attentive and thorough treatment. These are not the same tests--they measure different forms of vitamin D--and it was frustrating to be told otherwise. Update: Hours later, I received multiple calls from the office--none from the NP I originally saw. While I was told the issue was due to the lab switching their codes, there was still no acknowledgment of how the situation was handled. Even if this was a lab-related error, it does not address the provider's lack of listening or willingness to consider that the information in the system may not have matched what she believed. I was told we were both looking at the same thing, despite pointing out clear differences. Beaumont has been Corewell, including their labs, for at least two years now, so that explanation raises additional questions. Regardless, my concern is not just about where the error originated, but the lack of accountability and communication. I would prefer not to receive repeated calls providing conflicting or inaccurate information, especially when there has been no acknowledgment of the initial concern. At this point, I have gone and received care elsewhere.

I also mentioned concerns about acne, and she told me it was completely normal for my age and that I was probably perimenopausal. At my second appointment, I explained that the medication for my tongue had not worked. She prescribed a higher dose of the same medication. I also mentioned that physical therapy was not covered by my insurance and that I had researched the possibility of a gluten reaction. She agreed that sounded plausible. The appointment then shifted into a discussion about my health insurance premiums and coverage. I explained that I had marketplace insurance at the time because I was a freelance writer, and that I was comfortable with my monthly premium and willing to pay out of pocket if needed. Despite that, she told me she could not order additional thyroid bloodwork unless I personally called my insurance company, gathered all the billing codes, and found the prices for each test. She then ended the appointment, saying I was late, even though I had arrived on time. On the drive home, I realized she had never even reviewed my bloodwork results with me, which was the main reason for the visit. When I later checked the portal myself, I saw abnormal levels. When I went to refill the prescription she had given me, the pharmacist pulled me aside and said he was concerned it may have been prescribed incorrectly because the dosage was extremely high and aggressive. He advised me to call and confirm it. At that point, I decided not to continue care here. I later paid out of pocket for bloodwork from Function Health, which showed significant thyroid issues. I then found a new doctor who told me it was preposterous to suggest I was likely perimenopausal at 34 without proper evaluation, and I have since been receiving treatment for my thyroid condition. This experience felt dismissive, unhelpful, and poorly managed. I would not recommend wasting your time or money here.

The receptionist told me that there was no email and she didn't know why someone would tell me that. I asked for a manager and she stated Dawn and her extension. I called this number 5/6 times. Finally, I received an email that stated she could not schedule me until I signed the application, which could be done once I arrived for my appointment, rt?....... Please assist, I need answers.....I should not need to be defensive to receive health care. In ten years I have never felt the way that I do about the front office staff of the the clinic.
