This place did not disappoint!!!! From the food & drinks, to the ocean views & live music, I really can't wait to go back. We went here for my father's birthday and had the absolute best time here. Had a few of their signature drinks and enjoyed watching the sunset by the dock. The service was also great! The place was packed but they found time to get you as soon as they could!

I wouldn't recommend eating anywhere on Dune Road because these spots are all mediocre at best, people just come here for the view. But out of all three options, I do think that Oakland's is a cut above the rest. I think that this is also common knowledge, because trying to get a table here during summer is challenging, especially on weekends. The last time my mom and I came here we were able to be seated relatively quickly since we were willing to sit at one of their counter spots overlooking the water. The margaritas here are nice and strong (which makes the price tag hurt less) and their seafood pasta is an absolute must if you decide to come here. Mussels are also nice and fresh. Not to mention, the sunsets here are epic.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 8 Value: 5 Overall: 6 Like many places with a great view, the food is honestly san afterthought at Oakland's. I had a great time chatting with my friends this past weekend inside their beautiful dining room before they shutdown for the season, but the food was not impressive. Everyone talks about their amazing Crab Cake, really? Maybe mine was an anomaly, but it was not filled with lump crab and lacked flavor. I love crab and eat crab cake everywhere. This ranks on the lower half for sure. As for my Halibut Sandwich, the fish was fried reasonably well, though I wish the batter was crispier. What bothered me more was all the pickled vegetables on top that takes away from the delicate flavors of the fish. Had a bite of my friend's Flounder Sandwich. The panko crusted fish was crispy enough, but flesh was dry. Burrata Salad was just okay since it didn't have that creaminess you want, the salad needed a drizzle more of balsamic vinegar, and quality of prosciutto could be better. Lastly, don't bother ordering the Clam Chowder because there is almost no clam flavor at all. Too heavy on the cream and all I got was potatoes. Clearly the cuisine will not be bringing me back, especially when there is often a wait for seats at this popular restaurant with a view, but maybe I will for the sunset.

The reservation arrangements were not clear via Oaklands website and social media page. They claim to not take reservations and walk-ins only but was not accommodating to seat my mother and myself for Mother's Day. We arrived at a decent time around 4:30pm just to be told by a rude senior woman at the front saying, "you should've called first", as if she knew for certain I didn't in the past to check if they take reservations. Imagine driving one hour to Hampton bays from central Long Island to this place to be told nonsense. On top of that they had the nerve to tell us to wait 45 min. I think not! Save yourself time and go next door to Sundays on the Bay where they welcome you in even without reservations and are professional about it. My mother had a great time elsewhere!

They did not take to-go orders apparently on friday when I went so I had to dine on. Furthermore the people upfront dont take orders they pointed me to the bar in which the bartender took forever to get to me to tell me that there's no to go orders. I ended up just eating in. -the clam chowder literally the worse ive had. It taste like water -shrimp quesadilla was mid at best -the calamari was definitely the only highly Good views outside and that's about it. Wont recommend and won't be back. Prices are out the door ridiculous too

We received a gift certificate here and we're excited to use it. We came on a Saturday for lunch, around 1 pm. They have a huge beautiful deck which swerves around with plenty of seating. It fills up quickly. We opted to eat inside by a window. My husband ordered a special, the soft shell crab. It was huge! It was so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was perfectly seasoned and he loved it. I enjoyed the chef's tacos which consisted of shrimp, salmon and swordfish, peppers and corn. It was so very good. They serve it with warm corn tortillas, which I think are homemade. You put it all together yourself. There was guacamole, sour cream and rice with beans on the side. The seafood in both dishes were absolutely fresh. Delicious. I wish we lived closer to this place; it took us about 2 hrs to get there, and it was worth it. I also want to mention our waiter, Saige. I'm not sure of the spelling but he was terrific. He explained all of the specials and everything in them and served with them. There were plenty of them. He was also very attentive, coming over many times to ask how things were and did we need anything. The place itself is decorated nicely, and the decks are great! I would recommend.

We read a recent review where someone proclaimed the owner to be nasty & unfriendly (sure, I am paraphrasing). Those types of reviews are generally emotionally charged and written by plebs I find. More on that toward the end. Pulling up to a rather unassuming east end Long Island small shopping plaza drenched in rain; opening the door, you are taken back to a semi rustic and dim interior. Perfectly elegant in its bucolic charm- with nice lounge music playing. It is a sit where one likes atmosphere. This is meant with the utmost of respect and candour. We were greeted kindly by the proprietoress (Jacqueline), and handed pleasantly robust binders with the wine list and food. Deciding to treat this in the more European café type, we had glasses and charcuterie. I, the Sagrantino, and her the Kerner. Jacqueline was vocally pleased with our interesting choices. The night drew on, more wine ensued, more food, multiple conversations, and I completed reading through each page and wine choice...finding much to be recognised and appreciated (Kirwan, Moric, Georg Breuer to name but a few) At the end of the night, I asked Jacqueline to pick an appropriate nightcap. She not only delivered, but gave us a wonderful story including the provenance and her experiences - ultimately, the word genius came up more than once. To wit, there was nothing here but an exceptional experience with a like-minded wine enthusiast. I felt welcomed and in the frith of old kin. Nasty, belligerent, dullard atmosphere- indeed not. Oops lol It was a quiet Friday evening and Plaza Café is conveniently located near my friend's house there in South Hampton. Being off season, there has been very little traffic and people on the streets. There were only 3 other parties in the restaurant when we walked in. This place is cute, private, has great good food, and service. Their menu is very small, but I was still having trouble deciding what I wanted to eat for dinner. Finally decided on the Tile fish....Yeah I know, I was like. Was told that they're like human beings because they eat just about anything in the sea. No idea if that's true or not, but I'll take it. The dish was light and full of flavor. Tried some of my friend's Salmon/Udon dish and I actually think his was the better choice. The salmon went very well with the udon. Noodles were kind of firm and juices full of flavor. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Looks like they may share it with businesses/hotel in the area. I'd eat here again. The décor and feel was okay, nothing amazing or memorable.

Cool spot with a Manhattan vibe "behind" Main Street in Patchogue…read more The reason this is key is because, since they face out to the firehouse and residential areas, parking USUALLY isn't a problem. There's a small lot that's free and you can park on Jennings. (sorry residents). We went on NYE so had to park several blocks away. No biggie. The inside is dark and cool with a city-vibe. Ample bar space and 1-4 tops an some banquet seating that lets you look out over the street. We were greeted right away by what turned out to be our server and seated promptly by the windows (we had a reservation). Also greeted by a gentleman that we think might have been her dad. The young lady hustled all night and managed the crowd well. We never waited too long for her to check in on us and she was very helpful with selecting wine and clarifying menu items. That being said, THIS IS A SMALL PLATES JOINT. People expecting full-sized portions should adjust their expectations accordingly. We did, however, order the Trastavere seafood platter (medium) which came as a tower and seemed impressive. Two types of oysters (large and medium) were presented; briny and fresh and pretty damned tasty. There was also a ceviche and tuna tartare that was, unfortunately, a bit unremarkable, as was the shrimp cocktail (though the shrimps were pretty hefty). The American "black caviar" was a nice way to commemorate the meal. Nutty with a pop of salinity but maybe something you can skip. We meant to order the Carne e Formaggi but got the Gamberetto instead which was fine as it was pretty tasty nonetheless (made with shrimp but it almost tasted like smoked salmon). Virgola Manhattan was good but pretty standard. Follow-up drink of dirty Manhattan was blissfully salty and cold. But back to the menu: we are unsure if they have an actual kitchen back there which would also explain the small plates concept and oyster and chilled fish options. The bruschetta was tasty, as mentioned, but it seems like they cut and toasted the bread and topped it with the crudo. The other bruschetta options featured ingredients from other menu items that could be re-purposed for multiple dishes. Smart but expect this. We plan on returning and trying the charcuterie board (mix and match cheeses and meats) and some cocktails. Overall, a nice night out and a nice option for dining and drinking around Patchogue. Cheers!
