1 star -- Really disappointing experience. My wife and I went to Oakland's yesterday with our two young kids. We paid through the restaurant's QR code system, received confirmation, and left. In the parking lot, our waitress and another employee followed my wife and accused us of not paying. She showed them the payment confirmation, but they still questioned her and asked her to take a picture of it. They caused a scene, leaving her embarrassed and harassed. The food and service weren't much better. Three out of four glasses had lipstick marks, and every plate had visible food residue. I contacted the restaurant afterward, but they never responded or acknowledged my message. We came for a nice family meal and left feeling upset and embarrassed. Completely unacceptable. read more

I'm a just start off by saying Oakland's has the best French fries lol. All jokes asides I really like Oakland's. Great spot to grab food and just hang out in the back on the deck. Inside seating and the bar is always a good time as well. Food here is good and always consistent! I come here a lot with my wife and my father in law and I really like this place. Sundays next door is great as well but I personally like Oaklands better. I just think the crowd is more my age vs next door the crowd being a lil older. Overall the food here is good and always Consistent. Staff is great and always attentive and everyone working here is very friendly. My brother and I were deciding on where to go for happy hour and he mentioned he had been to Oakland's Restaurant and Marina in the past and really liked it and felt we should give it a try. I was game and called the restaurant regarding their happy hour times and was told by the hostess that they do not have a happy hour per se but their bar menu is always available and of course there is lunch and dinner and they always have live music. It is a little off the beaten path and is located in an enclave of restaurants on the water i n Hampton Bays. We walked in and were greeted by the hostess. It is an impressive sized space divided into two sections, a bar area where the live music was playing with seating at the bar and some booth seating and opposite this a larger circular dining room with tables for four and six people overlooking the water. We were seated and menus and a wine list was provided. Our waiter was Joseph Z. He was pleasant,the accommodating and efficient. Our drink orders were taken-a Corona beer for my brother and I ordered a Negroni. We gave our meal orders at the same time. My brother ordered the seafood pasta with a side of French fries-[not shoestring-these looked hand cut] and I ordered the sea scallops and a side of asparagus. The meals arrived shortly and we dug in. My brother enjoyed his food [the French fries looked very appealing] My substantally sized scallops were delicious and cooked perfectly. They were sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes, diced peppers and some greens. The asparagus were cooked well, crisp and very tasty. After our meal and some time to digest, we looked at the dessert menu. My brother opted for the tirami su and I was initially looking at the creme brulee but I had had this recently at another restaurant and then decided on the mixed berry crumble. After taking one bite of the mixed berry crumble, I new it I made the right choice. The dessert came out hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and alongside, a small vat of whipped cream and one of additional mixed berries. This dessert was outstanding. To cap this experience, I ordered a cup of espresso. In summary, the restaurant is clean and well maintained [the restroom as well] The staff is polite and the service is quick. We were there on Mother's Day weekend [Friday] and it is not an inexpensive meal, comparable to what I would have paid for a similar meal in New York City. However, it was well worth the money. Went there tonight for dinner. Got there at 3:30 and was seated at 5:15 pm. Ordered dinner by 5:30 but food never came out till 6:25 pm. Only 2 of the 3 dinners were brought out and the Greek Chicken dinners were cold as were the sides. The poor waiter kept apologizing so I felt bad for him. I finally went and spoke with the owner because of the lateness of the food and it had started raining as we were seated outdoors. She who told me that if we didn't like it to leave. The same sentiment she shared with another customer who also was complaining. It's a shame because we've been going there for 20 years. Won't ever go back. Horrible experience. read more

What happened to this place? It's been my favorite for a decade. Brought all my friends and family here. Tonight the "Oakland's seafood pasta" was almost inedible. Every one of the things we ordered was off. The ceasar salad had no dressing, and balsamic on top??? The seafood pasta no longer had linguine, but some overcooked ribbon thing in a child-proof type bowl? It felt like an airline meal. All the veg sides were steamed w no flavor and the chicken "w Greek spices" had zero spices. Even the mojito tasted like cheap margarita mix w mint in it. I was so sad. It literally seemed like maybe their chef quit and they promoted the line cook or dishwasher. I know bc I used to run a restaurant.. In August I came to this restaurant with my family. I informed the server that I have Celiac disease. She returned with the manager who assured me that I would be well taken care of and be pleased with my meal. I ordered the salmon and gluten free pasta. Later the server came to inform me that they had run out of the gluten free pasta. So I ordered a side of vegetables. I was so disappointed when I was served the salmon (which was a good serving and tasty) with raw carrots sticks and partially cooked asparagus. I was charged $8.00 for this side dish. I didn't want to make a scene so I didn't complain. However, I'm appalled at the lack of effort made to accommodate my needs. I wouldn't recommend eating anywhere on Dune Road because these spots are all mediocre at best, people just come here for the view. But out of all three options, I do think that Oakland's is a cut above the rest. I think that this is also common knowledge, because trying to get a table here during summer is challenging, especially on weekends. The last time my mom and I came here we were able to be seated relatively quickly since we were willing to sit at one of their counter spots overlooking the water. The margaritas here are nice and strong (which makes the price tag hurt less) and their seafood pasta is an absolute must if you decide to come here. Mussels are also nice and fresh. I had a great time chatting with my friends this past weekend inside their beautiful dining room before they shutdown for the season, but the food was not impressive. Everyone talks about their amazing Crab Cake, really? Maybe mine was an anomaly, but it was not filled with lump crab and lacked flavor. I love crab and eat crab cake everywhere. This ranks on the lower half for sure. As for my Halibut Sandwich, the fish was fried reasonably well, though I wish the batter was crispier. What bothered me more was all the pickled vegetables on top that takes away from the delicate flavors of the fish. Had a bite of my friend's Flounder Sandwich. The panko crusted fish was crispy enough, but flesh was dry. Burrata Salad was just okay since it didn't have that creaminess you want, the salad needed a drizzle more of balsamic vinegar, and quality of prosciutto could be better. Lastly, don't bother ordering the Clam Chowder because there is almost no clam flavor at all. Too heavy on the cream and all I got was potatoes. Clearly the cuisine will not be bringing me back, especially when there is often a wait for seats at this popular restaurant with a view, but maybe I will for the sunset. read more

The reservation arrangements were not clear via Oaklands website and social media page. They claim to not take reservations and walk-ins only but was not accommodating to seat my mother and myself for Mother's Day. We arrived at a decent time around 4:30pm just to be told by a rude senior woman at the front saying, "you should've called first", as if she knew for certain I didn't in the past to check if they take reservations. Imagine driving one hour to Hampton bays from central Long Island to this place to be told nonsense. On top of that they had the nerve to tell us to wait 45 min. I think not! Save yourself time and go next door to Sundays on the Bay where they welcome you in even without reservations and are professional about it. My mother had a great time elsewhere! read more

They did not take to-go orders apparently on friday when I went so I had to dine on. Furthermore the people upfront dont take orders they pointed me to the bar in which the bartender took forever to get to me to tell me that there's no to go orders. I ended up just eating in. -the clam chowder literally the worse ive had. It taste like water -shrimp quesadilla was mid at best -the calamari was definitely the only highly Good views outside and that's about it. Wont recommend and won't be back. Beautiful atmosphere on the water. Incredibly limited options if you don't eat seafood. They didn't even have a chicken dish or a burger on the menu. I ordered a pasta with vegetables and the server told me I couldn't ask for it without certain vegetables. I'm not sure if that's true. When it came time for dessert, I asked about the gelato listed and the server said they don't have gelato, and they just have ice cream. When I asked ice cream flavors it was only chocolate or vanilla. I'm not a fan of having things listed on the menu, but not having them available to order. I also got a mudslide as a drink and it's not the same as how they used to make it. I was disappointed. read more

On our first leg of a trip down South, Oaklands showed their true colors as greedy opportunists. The wind had picked up and my boat was dragging the anchor. Just needing a safe place to tie up for the night we cruised over to Oaklands, a place we not only frequented, but have also held several family parties there, at the restaurant of course. This was our first dealing with the marina. Our plan was to go out of Shinnecock inlet first thing in the morning. Oaklands charged us $10 per foot to tie up for the night. I was shocked by the indifference that this establishment showed to a local somewhat regular customer. All the way down the East coast every marina we stopped at was not only fair in price, the highest was $3.00 per ft. so far, but were more than accommodating. This is what happens when businesses become too big and successful to care much for their customers. It's only about the money and each person is treated as potential source of funds. There are other nice places to eat, but not many nearby marinas. Avoid if you can. read more

We received a gift certificate here and we're excited to use it. We came on a Saturday for lunch, around 1 pm. They have a huge beautiful deck which swerves around with plenty of seating. It fills up quickly. We opted to eat inside by a window. My husband ordered a special, the soft shell crab. It was huge! It was so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was perfectly seasoned and he loved it. I enjoyed the chef's tacos which consisted of shrimp, salmon and swordfish, peppers and corn. It was so very good. They serve it with warm corn tortillas, which I think are homemade. You put it all together yourself. There was guacamole, sour cream and rice with beans on the side. The seafood in both dishes were absolutely fresh. Delicious. I wish we lived closer to this place; it took us about 2 hrs to get there, and it was worth it. I also want to mention our waiter, Saige. I'm not sure of the spelling but he was terrific. He explained all of the specials and everything in them and served with them. There were plenty of them. Not sure why this place has 3 stars at the moment but it's fantastic! The smell of fresh sea breeze and the sunset views cannot be beat. Service was very good and the food delicious to match. I would definitely recommend checking it out for ambiance and bar alone. We came for the lobster bake which happens every Monday and Tuesday in the summer. It came with a steamed lobster, soup or salad, and shrimp/mussels as well as corn on the cob. It was quite good! We also had a couple of drinks that complimented the food nicely. Went here for a birthday dinner for seven guests. First tried to sit us in an outside small round table inside the restaurant with wicker chairs for 7 adults. Had to argue that one. Then finally us sat outside with an appropriate table. The pasta meals were awful arrived warm not hot and tastless. The salad with chicken was cold and soggy. Came for dinner on a Saturday night and it was packed. It's a nice nautically decorated restaurant right by the water, so as expected, they specialize in seafood. Since the place was packed, we had a bit of a wait before we were seated. Our orders were taken shortly after being seated, and it was good. For an appetizer, we tried the calamari. It was crispy on the outside with tender squid on the inside. I had the seafood pasta for my entree. It was OK. The seafood was fresh but I found it a bit bland. The pasta was very overcooked, almost mushy. The sauce was watery and i generally found the whole dish under seasoned. For the price, i think you'd be able to find better seafood. read more

We were in the Hampton Bay Area and wanted to enjoy waterfront dining , might as well since the weather is still beautiful... originally we were supposed to go to sundays on the bay which is in the same area but when we arrived we didn't like the rowdy crowd and thought Oakland's looked nicer so we went in and had a 40 min wait which isn't so bad since it's beautifully located by the water . We were seated at a perfect table right by the water , it was around 5:30 pm so the sun wasn't too strong , it was just right . We ordered two appetizers and asked that they be brought out first before our entrees and we were starving so every minute felt like an hour LOL Quite some time went by and still no apps ... Finally our waiter comes with our entrees so I mentioned the apps and he said oh what did you order ? Mind you he took our initial order , so we told him and he brought them out . So I give 5 starts for ambiance , view and setting and 3 stars for the food . It was nothing special , lacked flavor but I would still return because of the amazing views and ambiance . Had some dessert after dinner and our fave was the toasted almond creme brûlée, we also had the apple pie ala mode which was decent and the pecan pie which was overly sweet read more

I love going to Oaklands and I live here year round. I adore the food, and the ambience and the fishing boats and the sunset. We love taking our guests there. Especially a little "off season" or weekdays are best, to beat the crowds! Just one question....we love the hot sourdough bread and honey butter, but does anyone think it may not be sourdough? It's so yummy, but it doesn't have the aroma or tang of sourdough. That being said, it's still melts in your mouth! read more

We had a wonderful time here on Memorial Day! The place is huge which means you won't have to wait too long for a table. While we waited, we were able to get drinks at the bar and sat out on a deck overlooking the water. Bar service was hectic, though. It would have helped to have maybe one other person assisting as there were many people clamoring for cold drinks on a very hot and sunny day. Once seated, we ordered a few apps. My favorite was the crab cake. I got the chicken BLT for my main entree and it did not disappoint. I washed it all down with a deliciously made margarita. With the summer season nearing it's end here in The Hamptons, you could never tell here at Oakland's Restaurant. Our two hour Thursday night wait for a table was screaming this is the "Heigth of the Season" territory! With two complete bars, inside and outside dining areas and a parking lot that could accommodate a Yankee's game, this place was hopping. I thought to myself that either this place is really good or these happy New Yorkers are getting their last licks in before the season changes. My conclusion after eating here was it was a little of both. My wedge salad with it's aged rouquerort dressing and my aged New York steak cooked a perfect medium rare were very good. My side of fries were crispy and delicious. The bar was pouring generous drinks and our outdoor table was the perfect place to watch the days fishing and recreational boats come in and dock for the night. Our waiter was this articulate young man who was obviously on his last legs of this summer job, but approuched our table like it was Memorial Day not Labor Day. This was a refreshing attitude. I genuinely liked The Oakland and that's saying a lot coming from this triple type A guy who goes bazerk at a red light, let alone wait two hours for a table! read more
