The spot is an absolute gem! I went for a build your own charcuterie and my friend had a flight of 3 wines while I sipped two glasses of alcohol free Riesling The server (Bri) knew her stuff and was totally on top of customer service while owner, Derek, sat down and talked for a while about the business and wine! We loved it! They offer wine tasting classes and I can't wait to return for a real wine flight in the fall!!

    Charcuterie board. Excellent!

This place is a hidden gem. My husband and I stopped for wine and apps for our anniversary. We chatted with the owner Derrik, and our server, Steve. They were very friendly and helpful. We told Steve which types of wines we like, and he put together flights for us, which were perfect. The cheeses there was amazing as well. I highly recommend the Delice de Bourgogne cheese that's nice and creamy. I really loved the little fruit crackers they came with. Can't wait to go back.

I stopped in here with a group of friends on a Friday afternoon to try out some new wines. We got there shortly after they opened and were able to get a table pretty easily. The wine options are great and it's nice that you can get a glass or a flight of options. Our waiter was also really helpful and able to describe the ones with a lot of information. We each got a flight and then we also shared a board of cheese and bites for the table. It's a bit expensive, but definitely good quality and a cute spot. I recommend a visit!

A hidden gem in the town of Old Saybrook, CT. My sister surprised me here for my birthday surprise back in March 2021. And it was an amazing experience. A very small yet cute & cozy wine bar. The Staff is very friendly and overall the atmosphere is also very nice & light. They have cheese boards, crackers and desserts to pair with wine. Highly encouraged and recommended to stop by here if you live near by or are in the area. Their spring Rosè was definitely worth trying!

Super cute place. Great selection if wines, with a knowledgeable staff happy to help you navigate any variety you're not familiar with. Hubs and I went for an anniversary drink and ended up getting a flight (him) and a glass of cab (me) with a few cheeses and olives. Everything was delicious and the staff was super friendly and personable. Happy to have tired this place and looking forward to going back again!

A hidden gem! This is such a fun alternative to a winery and a great addition to the area. My girlfriends and I went one afternoon and enjoyed some wine flights and a cheese plate. It is a bit pricey and the only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because of a mix up with the price of a glass of wine (charged for a more expensive wine that we didn't ask for).

Loved this little place located right off Main Street. Owner was very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Great wine selections with awesome charcuterie boards as well. Will definetly be back again!

Delicious cheese and fruit plate to complement our wine flights! Lovely presentation and the side of pate was nice.

We enjoyed wine flights and some lovely cheese/fruit options. The food was beautifully presented. It was relaxing, clean and the service was great. I will encourage other friends to go to Sip! I will be back:) They also offer desserts for those with a sweet tooth.

This is my third time this week going to Sip! I absolutely love it. I'm not a big wine drinker, but I have to say it's the experience of Sip that makes it a special place. The owners know so much about the wines & recommend amazing pairings. I enjoy getting a flight of 3 to try dinners wines. I've always done a cheeseboard -- and current love the 3 Year Aged-Cheddar, Cashel Blue, and Midnight Moon. Highly recommend the fig jam if you have to choose one side! We also splurged and finished off the night with a Carrot Cupcake, and Flourless Chocolate Cake. The owner recommended wines to go with the dessert & they were delicious. They truly are so helpful!

They seemed understaffed and it was at least 10 minutes before anyone came over. Our server never introduced herself. (Later looking at the receipt, her name was Cate) She simply walked up with no greeting and just said "what are we drinking?" My wine pour was significantly less than my husband's, which was not a good start especially after having waited. We ordered small plates to start and I wish we stopped there. The seared tuna was great and had both an aioli and a spicy soy based sauce. My husband had the Kobe beef pot stickers and they were tasty, with a nice warm veggie medley in the middle of the plate. The pot stickers could have used a bit more sauce though. When it came time to order entrees, I was fully set on the lobster panini. The server advised me not to order that, and raved about the carbonara, so I ordered that instead. Big mistake. Huge! I wish she just let me order my panini. The carbonara was full of dark meat chicken (gross!!) that tasted gamey, and the sauce was broken. It clearly had too much butter and was not an authentic carbonara. I told our server multiple times that I did not like it. I had separated all the chicken in a pile and ate maybe 1/3 of the pasta. She strangely kept offering to make me the short rib pappardelle instead, which I declined, as I had no interest in that dish. I found it so odd that she picked out a specific dish to offer as a substitute. At least if she offered the lobster panini, it would have made sense since that's what I originally wanted to order, if not for her meddling in my order. My husband ordered a burger cooked medium. It was fully well done. The fries were limp and not crispy. Not a good showing. He wrapped his up to take home, but I did not. Clearly not eating 3/4 of the meal and also not taking it home was a sign of my discontent. I wish I took photo of my plate as I left it. I was pretty offended when she did not remove it from the bill. It's fine, we paid it, but that will be the first and last time we dine at Aspen. We paid our bill as charged, took the cost of my meal out of her tip, and called it a day. This is something I do not often do, but I felt warranted on this occasion, due to the poor food quality and her absolute indifference. We will not be back. Two stars only for the yummy small plates and the very very sweet hostess!!

We asked the bartender if we could enjoy the Happy Hour at one of the tables, he said, No. Only at the bar. Something that was not spelled out on the menu nor the website. We sat at the bar. The menu listed the house gin at $5. I asked which Gin did they use as House Gin. The bartender said, I can give you Tanqueray but the price is not $5 like the menu says, it's $7. He said that menu was from Milford, not Westbrook. Weird...so I get a glass of wine, which did ring at $6 like the menu said. We ordered a few "tapas". Out of the four that we tried, the best one was the turnover (empanada), then the meatballs (tiny meatballs), then the fried calamari (which tasted and looked out of a frozen wholesale fried calamari bag) and last the pork medallion (not tasty at all). When the bill came, two of the tapas had the wrong price (higher than what the menu said)....I had to ask the bartender to rectify, which he did.....Poor people the ones that do not check their bills....they can easily be overcharged here....Big time..... Not recommended....not coming back.

In a display of restaurant solidarity , they recommended that we try Vinas Wine & Tapas. As it turned out, we have a NEW favorite in New Haven! We arrived a bit early and were cheerfully greeted by Mike G, our server. The atmosphere was welcoming and relatively quiet, since their musical offering does not start as early as our 5:00-7:00 PM time slot on a Tuesday. We had asked for the waiter Christian because he had been mentioned in several of the Yelp reviews, but Mike proved that the service compliments should go to everyone. First, the tapas: We enjoyed all five of the tapas we chose. The "Calamares" were lightly battered and crispy. The Vinas salad was fresh, with tomatoes, cheese, corn, and croutons. The pork belly was delicious and more meaty than expected . The oyster mushrooms were presented with onion crisps. The baked birria empanada was stuffed with brisket style beef. Each of these "courses" was a unique delight to the palate, and for me and my partner, it was completely satisfying. In keeping with the spirit of a "wine bar," Vinas offered a flight of 4 wines in 3 ounce glasses, and after hearing about our food choices and wine preferences, Mike chose the wines for us, giving us a chance to taste some less familiar offerings. We had the Felino Malbec 2024 (Argentina), which became our favorite for its full-bodied and deep flavor. Our second wine was a unique Don Abel (private label) from Wallingford CT, made by one of the relatives of the owner, specially for Vinas. This one reminded us of the local wines one might receive in a B&B in the Loire Valley in France. The final two wines were both from Chile: Reserva Carmenere 2023 and Cabernet Sauvignon Marques de Casa Concha 2022. Both were excellent wines. It was great fun to have Mike choose the wines for us, and we really enjoyed the variety that the flight offerings gave to us. Of course, we had to try a dessert, and Mike recommended the Toffee Cake. We had heard that the owner claimed that some people cried with joy after eating it. Although we restrained ourselves, we had to agree that this was an extraordinary conclusion to a fabulous meal. Overall, this was a great experience for us, and we heartily recommend Vinas Wine Bar and Tapas for a relaxing and welcoming dinner. Some reviews I had read suggested that the portions were too small for the price. I have to disagree. My partner and I love food, and this was plenty. And the price was reasonable. Including tip and tax, we spent about $75 each.

The ceviche was excellent, everything was cooked throughout by the citrus. The portion size is small for $19 and it could have used a side of bread or tortillas to soak up the delicious citrus based broth. The skewers were also excellent. They were cooked perfectly, super tender, juicy and flavorful. They cooked them with a seasoning and had a delicious chimi on top.
