Janiel (who worked the patio/bar) was the best server I have ever had. The ambience, hospitality, view, and wine were five-star-plus! @toastofluxury Toastofluxury.com

We had dinner at Baron's Cove for our last night in Sag Harbor. We didn't stay at the resort, but wanted to try the restaurant since we heard there was a new chef. We booked a reservation 5 days prior via Resy and they require a credit card to book the reservation, so if you're not 100% sure you want to come here, I wouldn't recommend booking since there is a cancellation fee if you do not cancel within a 24 hour time frame from the reservation. We wanted a 7pm reservation, but couldn't book that, so we opted for a 6pm reservation. Check in was easy, but hostess wasn't that friendly. The restaurant itself was outdoors and we sat on the deck. Tables were following the socially distant guidelines and the servers all had masks on. Our server Akeen was fantastic. He was very friendly and welcoming. He told us the specials and his personal recommendations. He also took the time to read the notice on our reservation which was very nice to know he took the time to provide outstanding service. We started with Rose and calamari. Dinner choices were scallops and tilefish. Dessert was the blackberry crumble. Service 5/5 due to our server Akeen and his great demeanor and attention to detail. Food here was 3/5 - the tilefish was bland with no flavor. Calamari was average and the scallops were just okay. The blackberry crumble was nice, but nothing to rave about. Not sure who this "new chef" that all the workers are told to rave about is, but it was mediocre and we expected more from the food portion of the night. Ambiance 5/5 - scenery was beautiful and there was live music. It was very romantic and the heat lamps were perfect for a cooler September evening. Wanted to love this place, but not sure I'll return due to the food.

Our server (sorry forgot his name) was genuinely friendly - a rarity in the Hamptons these days - and made great food recommendations. The restaurant is one flight up with indoor and outdoor seating, even our inside table offered fantastic water views. Shared an order of burrata (a special of the day) to start, thoroughly enjoyed the creamy globe of cheese resting on tricolor sauce with toast points. My bouillabaisse, comprised of a large lobster tail, clams, mussels, and white fish, was well spiced with a saffron-based broth and served up with butter-slathered toast to mop it all up. Yummy! Partner's lobster rigatoni was made with plenty of fresh lobster meat and a well flavored creamy sauce. He said it was filling and delicious. Excellent experience overall, would definitely return when in the area.

Again, wish I could give 1/2 stars because I would give it 4.5 stars…read more If a place ever earned the phrase "don't just a book by its cover", it is this place. I had chosen this place to have dinner with friends from out of town that were vacationing in Sag Harbor. Reviews looked pretty good and fit what they were looking for: good food, water view, not too far from where they were staying. When we drove up, I was seriously questioning myself. The outside looks like a little dated and small. But as other reviewers have said, the interior is very nice and spacious! We were lucky to get a window table although it was foggy so we could not see a lot of the water; just the parking lot and dock. But still better than nothing. I forgot to take pictures of the apps but we shared multiple orders of the burata, fritto misto and salmon tartare (yes, you read that right). All were good and I did enjoy the tartare. For entrees, I got the fish and chips, Cathie got the bouillabaisse, friends got the chicken Milanese special (what a deal!!), Scottish salmon with ramen, burgers, and another bouillabaisse. We all loved our choices but highlights were definitely the chicken Milanese dinner special (because even with slight up charges for certain items, it is an amazing deal!!); and the bouillabaisse. As some other reviewers have said, this is a MUST ORDER! The broth is not too tomato forward but instead is very flavorful with other spices, not just saffron, and the same food is generous and prepared so well! I will come back just for this! My fish and chips were good, even the Cole slaw although I prefer meatier French fries (although these were still good, nice and crispy). Desserts were also very good and service was good after a couple of bumpy starts.

Securing one of the tables by the window overlooking Noyac Bay is definitely a splendid bonus, especially when the summer sun is setting, making it a picture-perfect time to capture the spectacular cotton-colored sky. Reservations are almost mandatory during peak season; wanting to book same day is challenging, however, late evening oftentimes works. A long, dark bar sits by the entryway with cheerful bartenders awaiting. The Bouillasse is a favorite, with clams, muscles, fish, shrimp and lobster in an an unbelievable pinkish-red stew flavored with lovely saffron. I was slightly disappointed the lobster didn't budge easily out of the shell. Nevertheless, the Bouillasse still remains a favorite. Without a doubt, I'll be back for more.

All this and more is possible when you dine in during the week from 12-3:30pm or from 5-6:30 for dinner. The interior of Lulu's is super nice and upscale. Our server was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I was too hungover to have a cocktail sadly, but my brother got The Ambassador martini (also on happy hour) that looked delicious to start. We ordered pretty much every seafood item on happy hour along with the shishito peppers and were so happy and satisfied by the end. All of the seafood was incredibly fresh. The shishito peppers were perfectly grilled. The octopus skewer was tender and delicious. Shrimp, crab, oysters and clams were all super fresh. Even the bread they put out was out of this world. My only complaint is that there were a lot of fruit flies around -- likely because we were seated near the produce that was out on display. But I would still come back for this food and these deals.

Topping Rose House, Bridgehampton: Culinary Highs and Service Lows…read moreRating: (Food: 9.5 | Service: 6) Topping Rose House remains a bit of a Bridgehampton enigma. As a spot we find ourselves returning to a couple of times a year, the kitchen continues to operate at a gold standard, even when the front-of-house seems to be stuck in a bit of a fog. The Food: A Seasonal Symphony If you are coming strictly for the palate, you will not be disappointed. The freshness of the ingredients is palpable: * Oysters: These were pristine--served icy cold and exceptionally fresh. The mignonette was the standout here; perfectly balanced and bright, it elevated the oysters rather than masking them. * Pea Soup: This was a revelation. It tasted as if the peas had been picked just yesterday; it was vibrant, "green," and utterly delightful. * Lobster Roll: While it was admittedly small in stature (especially for the price point), the execution was flawless. It was bright, crunchy, and avoided the heavy mayo-trap that many local spots fall into. The Service: A Comedy of Errors Unfortunately, the gap between the kitchen and the dining room was wide during this visit. While our waitress was personally lovely, the actual mechanics of the service were incredibly frustrated: * Timing Issues: We were offered bread at the start of the meal, yet it didn't grace the table until we were finished eating. * The Water Gap: Our sparkling water sat empty for far too long. Refills were offered, but like the bread, they arrived only after the meal had concluded. * Lack of Proactivity: There was no offer for drink refills throughout the courses. * Accountability: Most disappointing was the lack of acknowledgment. Mistakes happen, but a simple "I'm so sorry for the delay" goes a long way. Instead, the lapses were never addressed or accounted for. The Verdict: Topping Rose House serves some of the most phenomenal, fresh food in the Hamptons. However, when you're paying Bridgehampton prices, you expect the service to match the caliber of the kitchen. We'll likely be back because the pea soup and oysters are hard to quit, but we'll be crossing our fingers for a more attentive experience next time. mi

A few weeks ago,we make an early reservation because we had our toddler grandson with us. We arrive at an empty restaurant and are shown a table on the patio on the pool side next to a busing station. I expressed my displeasure and ask to move to the lawn area. There was not another customer in the lawn area I requested. I was told all of the tables in this empty restaurant are committed. We did make a reservation a week in advance. When I went back and spoke to the hostess again (the one with the blond hair), I was again told there is nothing that can be done to move us. The manager overheard and interjected that of course we could have another table. Tonight, we are 7 people. We are shown a table that would seat 4 comfortably inside in an empty dining room. I told the hostess I was unhappy with the table because we actually couldn't all fit. I was again told (by the hostess with the brown hair after being seated by the hostess from our prior visit) there was nothing they could do because all of the tables were committed. It was AN EMPTY DINING ROOM at this point. I told her we couldn't stay if this was are only choice of tables and was again told there was nothing that could be done. Unbelievable, but true. I then pointed to an empty table with a box on it in the corner and told her that she should put the box on the floor and move that table to ours so we could all fit. Her answer "I will see if that is possible". Mind you, a martini is $28 and French fries are $16 and they couldn't care less if a year round customer stays or not. Clearly my last visit to this restaurant but seriously disgraceful. I will say the waitstaff are always wonderful. The food is fine, duck was terrible. It's a shame that the hostesses are a group of mean, unprofessional kids.
