Toss in another round of Covid, the Flu and artic winter temps, the Holiday decorations were once again Rockefeller Center like. Residents long-term and new have blended together on a mostly joyful. and very friendly fashion. Management continues their top down approach to keep things running smoothly Access to top rated reliable medical care is always a growing need as we all get older. And when buying a house any good realtor will say.... LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION!!! This facility has it in spades as well as a an IN-HOUSE reliable bus service to get you to and fro. BDP SHOULD BE at the VERY TOP of anyone's list as a safe, extremely well managed plus welcoming home for you or your loved one. This facility does not make their elderly clients a priority, and it is very clear as to how it is ran! We almost had a med error as they have a patient at their facility with a similar last name and if family wasn't paying attention, she would have been given the wrong medication! We continue to have to call the facility to ensure that she is being showered, her laundry is being washed, and her room is cleaned appropriately! Of late, the biggest issue has been the facility being infested with big bugs, It took them over 48 hours to address while my grandmother slept on her couch because her mattress was covered in bedbugs and they told us there was no other place to relocate her to, So we took her out of the facility for four weeks so they could deal with the issue. After several emails and phone calls, because they do not do as they say they are going to do, they finally got her a new apartment and did not even bother to move all of her things. Our family had to take on the burden of moving her once again! We asked for financial compensation for the four weeks that she was not there at the facility and still have not gotten an answer and that has been over two months ago! We continue to be unhappy with this facility as they do not make their residence a priority. I do not recommend this facility to anyone for their elderly loved ones!

From what I observed Asbury Court is not well equipped to help elders who are in need of special care and especially those with dementia. Public Medicare assisted elder care care suffers from under staffing, low pay and unqualified caregivers who are not properly trained. Asbury Court is no exception. Their website lists memory care, please do not be fooled. The only memory care that I witnessed was over medication to be placed in a docile and non-functional state of mind and body. While some attendants are kind and empathetic at Asbury Court, many lack the skills and motivation to deal with difficult cases like my mother-in-law and her family members. Is there a better public funded facility out there for elders who suffer from dementia? I hope so, and maybe you can find one! Our baby boomer population generation is fueling a 75% increase in the number of people age 65 and older requiring nursing home care.

I got Dr. Berger and Dr Berger is a walking malpractice lawsuit waiting to happen. Time: First of all he is chronically late. Nice guy but I had to wait 2 HOURS AND 15 Minutes to see him! Ludicrous. The nurses say you just can't talk to him and that this is how he is. Two other patients were waiting with me and all of us were flummoxed as to how long it took him. It took so long that I had no idea my 1pm doctors appointment would interfere with my 5:15pm appointment. So I had to get my ekg the next day! I also had labs to do. Originally Dr Berger sent me upstairs to get my labs and didn't sign the correct order (signed the order for the in house lab). The lady upstairs looked pretty confused and then she asked me if I had fasted. I said no. She said I needed to do that (which is what I've always already known). So I went downstairs to tell him and he said oh ok. Oops. The bottom line is this. I had to refuse my EKG portion of my physical because I ran out of time. I had an online 5:15p appointment. My doctors appointment was at 1pm. Sink into that for a second. The next day I went in for bloods and was scheduled at 10:15 am. The girl in the lab didn't show which I'm told happens fairly regularly. The EKG happened right away (this is DAY 2 by the way) and then I needed to wait on a signature from the doctor to get my blood test and I waited three hours. He was supposed to come in at 11:30a a d didn't come in until 1pm. Dr. Berger just Joe's the give a f*ck! It's unnerving. I had the poor guy in the room next to me mention that his mother had dialysis but he had to take her to and he was waiting on the doctor. We were all waiting on the doctor. This is a malpractice lawsuit waiting to happen this man is completely irresponsible with his and everybody else's time and gives literally zero regard. If you have Dr. Berger, just be ready to be there all day waiting for him to finally decide to saunter in on his own free well. And apparently because he's a doctor, not even the manager can say anything. So this guy just gets to do whatever the hell he wants with zero consequences! I've never seen anything like it in my life and after being a Clinical in Associates Follow Los 15 years I'm never going to see it again. By the way, if you want to see what death on earth looks like, simply go into their lobby! Picture Kmart fluorescent lights on a deep dark purple along with purple seats from the 1990s for people to sit on and wait. The Secretary at the front having literally the most monotone voice that it's comical. The whole place is a disgusting nightmare. I've complained about the color scheme since they moved in and so has everybody else but apparently the owner truly just doesn't give a shit. He doesn't care that the doctor is not taking care of patients, He doesn't care about the color scheme or depression among staff or nurses who say they can't say anything to anybody about anything. It is crystal clear that Dr. Arvind Patel, the owner could give two shits about any of this and that in fact, he just doesn't care at all. My father is an independent physician in Michigan. I wanted to continue to support this group after the untimely death of my doctor at CAMS. But I can't. I no longer believe that they are professionals.

First and foremost were the staff and residents. They were all some of the warmest and friendliest people I've ever met. Not only were they warm and friendly but extremely helpful and very competent, as well as accommodating. The food was excellent, and the entire building was very clean, well-maintained, and quite attractive. There was plenty of programming and amenities both at Chestnut Square, as well as a short walk away in The Glen Town Center. Just across the street is a beautiful natural area with paved paths, a lake, shops, and plenty of places to explore. During her time at Chestnut Square, Sandra made many close friends and even developed a wonderful, close, and fulfilling romantic relationship with another resident who lived down the hall. The most important thing, however, was the dedication the staff had toward the happiness and fulfillment of all the residents. It really showed how happy everyone was in the community. Pretty amazing! When Sandra's health declined and she needed more assistance, Chestnut Square was able to provide additional on-site support through its phenomenal sister affiliate, Partners in Healthcare. The caregivers from Partners treated her and her loved ones like they were their own family. This was all available in Sandra's original apartment with a very thoughtful aging-in-place model, so she wouldn't need to transfer to another floor or facility. The care was exceptional, providing her with warmth, dignity, and respect. It comes as no surprise that Chestnut Square (a non-profit organization) is driven by their dedication to residents as well as staff--who all seem to really enjoy working there. Our entire experience with Chestnut Square was wonderful and provided the whole family with tremendous peace of mind!

Location is the best with shopping and medical care within a mile or two. The decor and residential suburban settings is superb. As is the residence itself. If you need it come join our club. It is open to all, but there are many retired nuns living here. On a side note- nuns do not receive any pension when they retire and many work as teachers and nurses, well into their 80's. It's a hard life. I believe that quality of life is the most important aspect of maintaining your health into a ripe old age. The combination of a home-like atmosphere, offering wholesome living, balanced nutritional programs with menu selection, medication supervision, social events and entertainment are what I believe makes Nazarethville so incredible. I was there on a Saturday with my seven year old niece. Her entire class was there to assist the residents in a lively session of bingo. The school requested that we bring a little gift- to be given as prizes to the winners. Apparently tissue is in big demand, because it is not provided and must be purchased by the residents. In addition to this, many people brought little stuffed animals and puzzle books and such. To see the joy and watch the faces of the residents light up when the children arrive is truly wonderful. The children enjoy themselves as well. It's really a win-win combination. Whenever the residents won at bingo, they were able to choose a gift. Although they desperately needed the Kleenex, they all chose the stuffed animals, and then the books and always gave the prize to the child that was assisting them. I can happily tell you that they organize these type of events on a monthly basis. They also have occasions where (well trained) dogs come in with their trainers for a visit. Another big hit! The facility is spotless and adorned with the most beautiful and inspiring artwork.- all painted by a resident. Sister Jolanta. Her beautiful paintings emit a magical light- similar to the work of Thomas Kinkade. She was an art teacher for many years, but I don't believe you can learn to paint like that. It's a gift from God. So remember, if you find any tissue on sale, buy a little extra and stop in Nazarethville. You'll be happy that you did : )

While I ensured her safety, I second guessed my decisions as she vocally struggled to adjust; it was a lot of change particularly for someone who rarely left her home. Almost 6 months in, a different set of doubts & worries took over. Did I make the right call, could she live somewhere more affordable, would she outlive her money, etc. I don't even recall what search term led me to Senior Living Experts, but I'm grateful. Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. She thought where my mom was at was the best option in terms of cost, desired location and care needs addressed, but would do the research and circle back. We also discussed the care she received currently and provided a few suggestions. As promised, Rebecca followed up and confirmed her initial assessment. Yes, I'll still worry about her finances, but I now have a better understanding of the landscape and what comes should her care needs increase. If I had a do over, I would have started with Senior Living Experts, they are amazing!

In those 21 days she was showered ONCE and that was in the last day and ONLY after my cousin complained to the head of the operation. They helped brush her teeth ONE TIME and one time only. My aunt came home with bruises and no explanation as to how she received them. While I was visiting, I called the nurse to question them on why my aunts foot was so swollen it was cracking, and in the 2 hours I was there NO ONE came to her room. Then today, A MONTH after she has been home, they received a bill. Not only was my aunt neglected but then they have the nerve to try to scheme additional moneys from them. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE IF YOU CARE FOR THEIR SAFETY!!!!!!
