Oaxen Slip is a casual, trendy bistro restaurant fusing Swedish ingredients and flavors with modern techniques! After a visit in the nearby Skansen open-air museum, we came for dinner and were seated right away at a communal table. For some reason, the chairs at the table were the kind you find at a theater/auditorium and were hard and stationary--not the most comfortable by any means, but I sure hope there was a good reason for using them! After starting with some simple cracker bread and regular bread, we ordered the grilled cod collar for two, and we were presented with two fairly large pieces of cod that had a nice smokey flavor, and whose meat simply fell off the bone! The side dishes here are ordered a la carte, and we got the grilled brocolli with shaved hard Swedish cheese and onions, as well as the roasted beets with sunflower and mustard seed. The flavor of the brocolli was savory and fresh, and the beets were soft, tender, and sweet--both of these paired so nicely with the fish, but I wish we could have gotten even more side dishes to share! In general, this restaurant reminded me of a few small plates or gastropub restaurants I've been to in the US, and the dinner menu is definitely catered for small groups willing to share lots of different dishes/snacks. While I enjoyed my visit, it would have been nice to be able to try out a larger variety of their diverse offerings!

Nice decor. It looks like a maritime museum.

Oaxen provided one of the best gastronomic experience in my life. Located in a picturesque dock between Djurgården and Beckholmen, Oaxen delivers the whole dining package. Starting from professional and friendly service, Oaxen's menu selection and the quality of food rival some of the best restaurants in the world. Best of all, the price will not set you back with a shock. Stockholm has a lot of offer when it comes to fine dining, but Oaxen gave us the most memorable experience by far.

The more casual cousin of Michelin 2* Oaxen Krog it was for Brunch that two sat out on a shaded patio at Oaxen Slip, the popular spot for locals as well as tourists offering a meal that was decent, though not so much in terms of value. Described best as a Bistro, the location along water looking out on Beckholmen undoubtedly part of Oaxen's appeal as boats occasionally move across one's gaze en route to open water, it was shortly after the Restaurant opened that seating was nearly full, a small staff providing service that would generously be called deliberate with "slow" a less pleasant description. Lined by suspended ships on the inside with nature doing al fresco duties in early Swedish Spring, complimentary Bread and good local Butter quick to arrive, it was after a lengthy delay that orders were placed, the limited weekend menu first providing a hemisected Sandwich topped in creamy Pork Spread along with melted Cheese, Mayonnaise and forgivingly mild Sauerkraut. Easily finishing the opening volly in a few bites each, a delay dividing this from more Food not unpleasant given the setting despite being inexplicable for Charcuterie, it was all-together that Pork Neck and house-aged Ham arrived alongside pickled Green Tomatoes ruined by Horseradish plus crisp French Fries and creamy Foie Gras hidden beneath Salad, the waitress' claim that Ketchup was unavailable when trying to sell 30 SEK Mayonnaise immediately disproved when a table of regulars received a ramekin that an alternative server was happy to provide. Rounding things out with Dessert, an e-mail days prior inquiring about the dinner Bread Pudding stating it could not be ready for Brunch, it was fortunate that Carrot Cake topped in Cream Cheese Frosting and Nuts was excellent because the flat Banana Bread beneath smooth Coconut Ice Cream and Lemon Marmalade so bitter it had to be removed most certainly was not.

We grabbed two appetizers, the lamb, and three sides at Oaxen Slip after checking out the sculptures in the park. The dishes were executed well but not quite the flavor for the price or the hype. Service was lovely though and wine list was great. And there was a bar dog with another guest which is always a plus. Note that the cocktail list and bar were pretty sparse.

If i could marry this place, i would in a heartbeat. I've been to a number of michelin star studded restaurants but i'd say this restaurant is up there along with them or at least in my list. The ambiance, service, most importantly the FOOD stellar stellar stellar.

Came here after spending the day at the museums. It was recommended by a friend and we managed to snag a couple of bar seats since all the tables were booked! Great ambiance and view of the slip. Ordered - Grog (lemonades with different spirits) - w/ gin & ginger (5/5), mint & rum (4/5) - Smoked prawns with garlic aioli (5/5) - Herring with warm potato salad and egg (5/5) - Grilled duck breast with black currant (5/5) - Fries with smoked aioli (4/5) - Dessert crumble with thyme ice cream (4/5) Everything was amazing! One of my favorite places in Stockholm.

The food is right on point and it is a very good modern take on swedish food. The service however was a bit lagging. I think it was only the issue with that particular waitress but we waited forever to order or to get anything and we actually needed to track her down a couple of times. She didnt seem that happy about our presence either :( Other than that, everything was perfect. I really enjoyed the meal :)

A remarkably cool restaurant with good, innovative and affordable food. The pulled pork brioche was the best dish I had all year. And good service too! Generally need to reserve, but you may be lucky if you're early for lunch or dinner. Give it a try and take home some of their spicy barbecue sauce, too

It's always a great idea to go to Oaxen Slip after a lovely stroll on Djurgården. The nautical interior in this airy restaurant is very inspiring, and the view over Saltsjön just outside the windows is simply wonderful and very relaxing. The modern Nordic cuisine that is being served by the knowledgeable and attentive staff is very ambitious and delicious. The menu is varied and it is advisable to order dishes for sharing. This is something that appeals to me since I like to share the food and discuss what's on the table :) I would advise booking a table here a few days before you plan to go. Besides, try one of their homemade lemonades - they are incredible.

So I'm reviewing their brunch which is the only thing served there in the weekends and base on that I will probably never go back to try other dishes! It's a simple & modern Scandinavian restaurant & their dishes are strictly northern with no infusion from anywhere else in them. We ordered four of the small dishes as they recommended, one of which was cured herring that is three different kinds, three baby bite-size of each and it tasted just like the one you buy from supermarket! Honestly I have a hard time believing that it didn't come out of those jars! The code fish balls were pretty fishy & things they mixed in them didn't really match in tastes. Then we ordered smoked lamb steak which didn't say on the menu it was served cold, otherwise the taste was pretty ok. Last but not least we got a bill for all this that was way too overpriced for this quality & quantity of food. Nope! definitely not going back.

It's pretty much a one person show from what I could see. The owner attended to me efficiently and without the slightest hesitation. I'm sorry to say that I don't speak Swedish (I wish I did I can tell you) but he was able to communicate with me and for that I will always be grateful. My plate had, if I recall correctly, four breaded and fried herring fillets. It had a coleslaw (which I found a surprising addition, creamy mashed potatoes, pickled cucumbers, red onions, and a little wedge of crispbread. I loved every bite. It was a generous plate. I particularly enjoyed eating a combination of the potatoes, cuke, onion, and fish on a corner of the crispbread as I munched away. There are a few nearby picnic type tables. So there was a place I could sit and enjoy this meal overlooking the water and a corner of the old town. If you find yourself in Stockholm, do yourself a favor and go to here. Even if you think you don't like herring, try it this way. I bet you'd be surprised.

Everything you'd need for the perfect meal out! They do not accept reservations and we went on a Sunday evening around 8:30 pm. We waited about 30 minutes, but boy was it worth it! We were seated at a cute little corner table that had pads on the benches, right next to a window to see the street. Lighting was dim and cozy. Service was the best I've had in recent memory. Our waitress was peppy despite having to deal with a long line and probably a long day. She was friendly, attentive, and so cheerful! 100/10. We started with the reindeer salad since my bf had never had reindeer before. While the reindeer seemed less cooked than expected, by the end he really liked the mix of flavors and thought it paired well with the salad. We both got the Swedish meatballs for our entrees and loved them! We both loved the pickled cucumbers and lingonberries. The lingonberries pair so well with the meat! While there are only 3 meatballs, they were so huge neither of us could finish all of them. Especially because I wanted to save room for dessert: the sponge cake! While it didn't look like much on presentation, it was surprisingly moist and the cream and berries were absolutely delicious. My bf said he was only going to have one bite (he's not a big dessert guy) but instead ended up eating half! Highly recommend! Overall would come back again just for the vibes, service, dessert, and to probably try another entree, which I'm sure would be good as well!
