Jeff is an amazing teacher! In just a few short weeks our daughter was already playing songs. I like that he teaches music theory along with all the technical aspects while still making it fun. Our daughter takes band at school and she has learned far more here than she did in an entire year and a half at school. I am 65. My wife is 64. When both of us were children we wanted to learn to play drums, but were not allowed to do so. This year we decided it was not too late to learn. My wife is dyslexic and finds it difficult to read music. She greatly appreciates Jeff's patience with her. I am left handed and want to play on the same drum kit as my wife, yet use my dominant hand and foot comparable to how a right handed person would use their dominant hand and foot. I've been working with Jeff for 10 months now, weekly hour long lessons. I started with no drumming experience at all, and I feel like I am an intermediate level drummer now. I can play most songs if I sit down and figure it out, and I am very happy with the progress I have made under Jeff's instruction. Jeff is an excellent teacher. He doesn't just teach drumming, he teaches music with an emphasis on drumming, and is especially good about teaching the "right way" to do it instead of the easy way. He wants his students to build good habits and understand the underlying theory, and will spend the time to educate the student on the most effective, sustainable, and professional way to do something instead of what is easy or intuitive. He's exactly what I was looking for in a drum teacher, and I am very grateful that I have a teacher that is so skillful and committed to giving a proper drum education to his students. I am a working professional, so the time I can devote to practice is sometimes scarce, but Jeff understands this and works with me to develop lesson plans that make the most of my valuable time. The limiting factor to my learning is my practice time, and never Jeff's instruction. I believe sincerely that if a student does what Jeff tells them to do exactly like Jeff says to do it, that they will become master level drummers over time. It's all about practice, but you could not ask for a better teacher than Jeff. Follow his guidance and you will succeed in drumming and have a great time doing it. I could not have asked for a better teacher/mentor for my son Dustin's (now 12 years old) introduction to drum lessons. Jeff has mastered the art of connecting with students of all ages and keeping his lessons fun and educational at the same time. I'd often meet other students and parents in passing, and they all shared the same thing in common--a positive outlook and genuine fondness for Jeff. He really payed attention to my son's musical interests, rather than just forcing him into tedious exercises. Any parent knows that kids can be moody or tired after school, but Jeff always seemed to be very sensitive and in tune with my son, and would tailor each lesson accordingly. This was crucial, as it keeps the kids interested and eager to play. Jeff is an amazing instructor, in my individual lessons i have noticed that he has patience for his students. Out one thing specifically out of everything he has taught me is " at first play it slowly then once you understand how to read it you can begin to play it faster".
