Registration was easy through Eventbrite: free, simple, pick your date and time slot. We booked for the January 9th LA pop-up. It was their 2 year anniversary! After reserving, we got a text asking how many cocktails we wanted. Drinks were $25 each and paid for ahead of time. James, the bartender, is SUPER RESPONSIVE and helpful and accommodating!!! Appreciate this very much. The day before the event, the address was revealed. We arrived at what turned out to be a home and were greeted right away by Kevin, who was super warm and welcoming. We wandered into the living room, found our seats, and noticed a small spread of chips laid out, nothing fancy, but a nice touch. Kevin came out with the menu and handed us coins equal to the number of drinks we prepaid for. You write your order on a slip of paper, and each time a cocktail comes out, they collect a coin. Simple and smooth system. Vibe: The setting itself is fine, but the experience is basically social roulette. Your night heavily depends on who else shows up. If the crowd's fun, great. If not.....the vibe kind of dies. Music was minimal, atmosphere was lacking, and there wasn't much to help carry the room. Cocktails: 10/10. Truly excellent. Beautifully crafted, thoughtful, and impressive. Unfortunately, even great drinks can only do so much heavy lifting. We tried all 9 cocktails on tonight's menu and favorites were: Redwood Fog, Suan Mei Tang, and Thai Town Ice Cream. Final verdict: The cocktails are outstanding, star of the night. The venue, less so. This place is a gamble, so come with fun friends or be ready to bring the personality and entertainment yourself.
