Gouging every penny, above what insurance pays: Occhio had been a great place under Dr. J. The first year under the new owners, there was consistency. As of August '23 I was asked to pay for additional fees, previously covered by insurance. First, it was an extra fee for "evaluating contacts", which had nothing to do with looking at my contacts, rather somehow "evaluating my eyes because I use contacts". I asked several times what was different, as they simply need to check a box for a contact prescription. I was presented with a form from 1994 stating insurance policies had changed, however I hadn't paid this fee in the 10 previous years. This was annoying, but after traveling 45 mins, I was willing to pay the additional $60 just to get it done. As I was brought into the exam room, I was told I could have my eyes dilated, included with insurance, but I'd have blurry vision,, yet I'm ok to drive. Or, for $49 more, they could use a machine. ...which was used for the last 10 years I'd been attending Occhio. At this point, I was so annoyed that each discussion was another way to extract money from me, rather than focus on my treatment that I left. This is why CostCo LensCrafters and other places are taking over. read more

The staff are wonderful and friendly. Convenient location, ample parking, and accommodating. They helped us get our insurance information so we knew what was covered and what we had left over. The staff at Occhio is very rude and considers harassment if the customer asks for clarification or information to make it explicit and clear. They force customers to visit the clinic for the final prescription. The doctor provided a prescription that was sub-optimal. I don't recommend this optometry to anyone. Stay away until the staff and the doctor learns how to treat their customers. read more

My family has seen Dr. Jessica Lee for several years at another area practice. When I'd heard she'd left that location, I was delighted to hear she's still local to Sammamish! Before visiting Dr. Lee, I'd suffered from headaches and awful dry eye problems. She took the time to address my concerns and really tailor my prescription and contact lens brand to get a comfortable and accurate fit. She also spent time educating me on how another medical issue may be impacting the quality of my vision. It was refreshing to have an optometrist take a careful look at my entire medical history to, not only address my eye health, but ensure I understood how my vision was being impacted by my overall health. She's also been great with addressing my husband's headaches and finding a good fit for his glasses/ contact lenses. And, my kids adore Dr. Lee! My daughter just giggled through her exam. Previously, I'd visited optometry practices where it felt as though the doctor was just checking off boxes to get me in and out with a new prescription and new frames. This is not that sort of practice- they genuinely care about your case. And, it's clear Dr. Lee is invested in her patients and committed to ensuring they understand how their eye health impacts their overall well being and quality of life. She even caught an issue in my son that had been missed by an ophthalmologist in another state after I expressed concerns over some academic issues. Dr. Kaufman and Leslie are also wonderful and a total delight to visit. I can't imagine a more positive experience! read more

Dr. Jessica Lee is the best. I've seen so optometrists but have not seen one that is as knowledgeable, patient and caring as Dr. Lee! She advised me on the best type of contacts for me and things I need to do to keep my eyes healthy. She always goes the extra mile for her patients because she cares. Specifically, when I had an issue with my eyes, not only did she carve out time in her already packed schedule to see me but provided me advice before and after to address my issues. I saw Dr. Lee at Occhio Optometry and had a wonderful experience. She is very knowledgeable and thorough with her eye exam. She is very attentive and invested in her patients and shows that she really cares. She takes extra time to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Dr. Jessica Lee provides exceptional service in a convenient location! Dr. Lee is very thorough. She treats every patient like they are the most important person to ever sit in her chair and treats all of your concerns and/or questions equally important. Her individualized care is top notch in eye care. I have suffered from dry eyes for years. She has given me tips and tricks to combat it and both improve my vision and comfort. At my last appointment she mentioned she would be getting a new lid cleaning device which would help my dry eyes. I can't wait to try it out! The clinic is beautiful, spotless, clean, and chic, and the doctor was efficient, incredibly helpful, and professional, which is why it deserves 2 stars. The eyeglasses there are extremely overpriced (easily $600-1200 all-in per pair; I ended up purchasing a pair from elsewhere, reputable brand, with even more protective features for ~1/5 of the cost), they seem unethical for accepting insurance money for nonprescription designer sunglasses purchase, and the assistant I worked with was impatient, snappy, and frustratingly dim. She threatened to hold hostage a prescription for which the exam was already fully paid, because there was another fee pending my insurance's payment processing. She didn't seem to understand any of the questions I asked her, ranging from what's the benefit of the anti-reflective coating on glasses and if they have a sample (which took multiple times asking to get her to remember they do have a sample), to where the restroom is in the clinic. No idea why I was recommended to this clinic in the first place, and no idea how the other reviewers are not sharing these same frustrations, but I would rather lose an eye first before ever coming to this clinic again. read more

This may be a little long but I thinking is worth you reading. I went in as a first time customer and the service was great so I picked out some frames and made an appointment for an eye exam. When I got my new glasses (progressive ) they seemed OK in the store but when I started working I noticed that the view area was very small and if I wasn't looking through a very small section things were blurry so within a week I called and explained and made an appointment to go back and have the doc check them. They sent them out and made a some tweaks and a couple of weeks later they were ready again. Well when I got them back they were worse then the first time. Now the clear viewing area was even smaller. Here is where the trouble started. I called and explained that the the glasses were even worse and clerk was a little testy with me. She said that sometimes it takes a while for your eyes to ajust to new glasses. I said that had been over a week and that they just were not working. She explained to me that the lab would only do one adjustment and it would cost me more if she had to send them in a third time. (Keep in mind that I have above average insurance and still was $400.00 out of pocket.) She also stated that it had been 3 months. I replied saying the only reason it has been so long us because of the time it takes your lab and you suggested both times that I give it some time for my eyes to adjust. Aldo I am sorry that the lab will only do one tweak but this is not my fault. She put me on hold and came back and said we will to another tweak but I need your health insurance info to bill for another office visit. I said no. It was not right to bill my insurance for something that it your fault. After being put on hold again she came back and said OK they would give it another try on there dime but she was not very happy about it. So I went and saw the other doc. He said that the perscription was off and he sent out for a whole new set of lenses. 2 weeks later I went and picked them up and believe it or not now they are MUCH worse. I can't ware them for more than 2 mins or I get dizzy and an upset stomach. Well now I have a $700.00 pair of glasses sitting on my dresser that are useless while I wait for my year to be up for my insurance to cycle so I can go get some glasses that work read more

My husband & I have been here twice now for eye exam and frames. The staff was really helpful when it came to trying on frames. My husband is hard to fit & they were patient with lots of suggestions. The doctor took his time with both of us and I left feeling like we were well cared for. And, same personal attention when we picked up our glasses. A+ read more

I've been to Occhio several times over the last couple of years and I'd say they are ok at best. They are slow to get back to you when you call or when you are expecting to have glasses delivered. Every time I have an exam I end up with a different optometrist. All of the glasses are really expensive even the kids glasses. They've lost my records and had to start over at least once. My husband had a horrible experience with them. I'm looking for another option. read more

A year ago my wife came home from her first appointment at Occhio raving about Dr. Jay and about Joni and Leslie who found her the perfect frames. So, I went to see Dr. Jay yesterday for the first time and understood her enthusiasm. The moment I arrived Joni introduced herself and quickly processed paperwork and insurance. Dr. Jay immediately followed and gave a thorough exam. He described a variety of options including out of office surgery and that gave me the confidence that he was more interested in my well being than the financial benefit of selling me a couple pair of glasses. 5 stars for great service, clean & modern office and good selection of frames. read more

Extremely poor customer service.Staff is very snobbish and has knows it all kind of behavior.I went to them to get my eye exam and they said that I was not covered for any pair of contact lens or glasses till Jan of 2012.I went back and forth with my previous Dr and checked that I was covered under VSP for second term coverage and could get contact lens this year.These people were so rude and I almost felt that they were judging me for not being able to get coverage for my contacts. I called this front desk blond lady back again to tell her that I had found that I could get covered for contact and she bluntly said that " Oh I thought that you were going with your previous Dr" making me feel unwanted as a customer.These people are thugs, greedy and do not care about patients .They are here in business only to make money.I am glad I did not give them my business.I am glad that they are not into medical care of patients as they wil make sure to take and care for only those who have big money.Extremely poor quality of care and customer service. No wonder poeple don't know what the heck Occhio is. Please do not go there. read more
