Fresh included: Lobsters, variety of oysters, variety of clams, salmon, scallops Prepared included: House made 1 1/4 pound Stuffed Lobsters, Loaded Stuffed lobster Tails $16.99, Snail Salad, Fruti di Mare Salad, lobster ravioli, crab cakes For lunch, we ordered: Big Daddy Seafood Stuffies with lobster, shrimp, clams, sea scallops, & bacon were excellent. They had Just the right amount of seasoned breadcrumbs. Gourmet Stuffie was good. Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms were outstanding. They had pieces of scallops and lobster. Crab Cakes were mediocre and certainly not Baltimore style good. Fruti Di Mare cold salad was great because it consisted of large scallops, Shrimp & tender calamari rings in a savory vinegar dressing with herbs. Check out my photos. The market had several displays of Thai and Asian bottled sauces plus a nice variety of hot sauces. I bough a box of Unami broth packets and a Hot Sauce with Tequila and Lime. On Friday's, they serve take out seafood. For example, two Fish Fries are $24.99. We had a great time looking around and feeling amazed at the variety of sea food. The market is well lit, and there is no smell of raw fish! Prices and descriptions can be found for every item. Friendly staff members answered questions. Terrible customer service. I get out of work and want to grab some lobsters. And this guy closes and locks the door as I am walking up, then the entire staff proceeds to ignore me. I understand that you close at 6, but I was there minutes before. No one could even open the door and give me a "I'm so sorry but we just closed"? I wouldn't be writing this review if they had! Nope, instead they all pretend not to see me. I think your staff need to be retrained with some damn manners. Only come here if you want rude people handling your food. Went there for their Fish Fry special. I called ahead and the food was delivered fresh and warm about 5 min after I arrived. The batter and fries could had been crisper and crunchier. The fish itself was moist. But I like my fish fry to be really crispy. This was not that crispy. Great deal though. Two meals for less than $15. Take out only. They take credit cards. read more

I've been here a few times this summer and it's a nice convenient spot to grab some fish to grill if you are in the area. Love the crab cakes and the stuffies, they are big and delicious. The stuffed fish they offer is mostly stuffing, not as much fish as I'd like. The lobsters are good and decently priced. The fish was good but I did not appreciate paying $13.99 for a large sheet of paper. I am sure they know that the proper way to weigh fish is to place the paper on the scale, tarre the scale (Zero it out) and then place the fish on the paper. It wasn't a little piece of tissue paper either, it was 24" of thick paper off the roll. Sure, not much in the end, may be $0.75 - $1.00 but is it OK to steal things that don't cost much? read more

The good, the bad, and the ugly. I truly love to cheer for establishments that I consider outstanding; that do a good job, and care about what they do. It warms my heart to share my gratitude with others. This time, I felt it necessary to share the not so nice side of things. The good: New Fish Market in South Kingstown. Fish is very fresh. I have been there about 6 times and have tried the salmon, baked stuffed shrimp, swordfish and the Cod. I will note that the young men that work weekdays behind the counter are very pleasant. The bad: I placed an order on 12/16/13 for 4 dozen baked stuffed shrimp for a Christmas Eve dinner. The week before, they were priced at .99 each. On the day I placed my order, the shrimp was $1.25 each. I didn't notice this until I was leaving the store. They had asked for a $25 deposit, and gave me a receipt, but no price on anything. The ugly: On Christmas Eve morning, I went to pick up my order and the shrimp was now $1.50 a piece. I spoke with the (rude) young lady checking me out and after going in the back to check with the owner she basically said "that's the price-take it or leave it". I really didn't have a choice as it was half of meal for ChristmasEve. It took them an additional 20 minutes to pull the order together and check me out. Not sure what the point of pre-ordering or giving the deposit was? Moral of the story- kindness goes a long way, especially on Christmas Eve, for a new business, with a repeat customer. The baked stuff shrimp was good - NOT great. Dave's Market & Tom's Market both have shrimp of the same quality however the staff is pleasant and organized, and there are no surprises! We had a catered meal from Tom's Market for Thanksgiving and it was OUTSTANDING ! My 20 something daughter was with me - and she was so turned off by the whole experience she said she didn't want me to go back. So there you have it. Customer beware! read more

We kept Ocean Catch very busy over Labor Day weekend! The fish is consistently very fresh and it's priced competitively. We stick to the basics: Swordfish, Cod, Clams, Shrimp, Lobsters and Scallops, all of which we ate over the past week and everything was delicious. For us that's really all that matters. Some here on Yelp have referred to poor service and surly employees. We had a taste of this on one of our trips but frankly, to us it matters little. We go for quality, price and convenience, with service being a distant fourth behind the others in importance. Tip: The only bummer is their white clam chowder. Great: Fresh seafood selection. Salmon, cod, killer scallops - all great. Not so great: their stuffed items. Stuffed fish and baked clams were overwhelmed with bland and dry breading. I took the stuffing out, tossed it in a little garlic butter, rosemary, thyme and seasoning and e voila! And sure the reviews are not incorrect - the people behind the counter seem like they'd rather be anywhere else but there, but I'm not bringing them home, so I don't care. Sooooooo, the Pre-made lobster rolls are 2 for 20$- haven't found them anywhere cheaper in RI yet. They were delicious! Also ordered lobster/claw meat to make my own, so fresh! The fish is fresh & although I love our local grocery store, they do not have fish like this! RIP OFF ALERT. I bought a lobster here today. $15/pound; ok for the convenience BUT they weighed it with the HUGE, THICK paper bag, which added $5!!!! to the cost. They gave me a big raft of S&&T when I asked them to weigh it without the bag, claiming that "everybody weighs it that way", which is completely untrue, because i shop a many other fish markets. $5 for a paper bag is a rip....just sayin' Addendum: I asked for a male lobster and they sold me a female. Tried the Friday takeout-ordered way too much for two people, but it was delicious! Had the Fisherman's Platter and Fried Clam Strips, highly recommend both. Also grabbed some baked stuffed shrimp, stuffed mushrooms and the stuffies. Great selection and service. The setup for payment was smart as well, you order and pay for the takeout (Friday only) at one designated register, with a separate register for all other purchases. It's ok, I just wish they had more actual local fish (from Pt. Judith or Stonington, not from Mass. or Pacific, etc.), but that seems to be the way it is now (where does our local fish go?!). Most of their "local" fish is not from Narragansett. When something is labeled "day boat," don't assume it's from Pt. Judith. I also don't like that they stack the flounder upside down (skin side down) so it's hard to identify what type of flat fish it is (e.g., yellow tail, black back, etc.) for those who have a preference - their presentation is unusual. It would also be worth a trip if they had fresh seasonal wild caught (not wild raised) King Salmon - yes, it's expensive, but totally worth it. read more

This is my go-to place in South County when I want fresh fish and seafood. If you want a delicious main dish that you can heat up at home, I highly recommend the stuffed flounder, lobster, or cod. Tonight I enjoyed a stuffed cod which was filled with seafood. The cod was so fresh that it flaked to the fork. My favorite seafood to get from Ocean Catch: calamari (frozen, local from Narragansett), mussels, lobster, shrimp, and local littleneck clams. The freezer section is stocked with octopus, smelt, lobster meat, and a lot more. I plan to go back to try the fresh mackerel and smelts when they have them. The seafood I've purchased here has ALWAYS been fresh and top-notch, although some days the selection is better than others. The Maine mussels I purchased and cooked up were the best I've ever had. The staff have been friendly and helpful every time, too. My only gripe: they mark up the price of lobster quite a bit over the holidays. I purchased two 1 1/2 lb. lobsters and paid $45--almost double what I paid at Dave's. They do have a great selection of different size lobsters, which is hard to find at other establishments, where you just have to take what they have, even if you don't necessarily want a 2 lb. lobster. I plan to continue shopping at Ocean Catch for my seafood and I hope these guys stick around! read more

Depends what you're going for. Meaning when I've gone to just buy fish it's been pretty good. However the other times I've gone to buy some of their prepared food like stuffed filets, crab cakes, salmon burgers, etc. it hasn't been very good at all. I frequent here at least once a week. Love the fact that they always have a great selection. Usually we end up with the wild salmon for quick week night dinners. The fish is always fresh and the oysters have been excellent as well. Competitive prices and quick service help out a lot too. I've never experienced bad customer service and the staff is always helpful. I did notice when you buy mussels they are very good about selecting them instead of just tossing handfuls in a bag. This is the first time I ever wrote a review: Excellent service. I was in at Christmas and could see how hard these boys were working. I think Susan M has to understand that at the holiday time where ever you go there is a certain amount of wait time. Seafood is not a manufactured product so I can understand why the prices my vary and to complain about a .25 or .50 difference seems trivial. The majority of the time I see the prices cheaper then the supermarket and you can't even compare the quality. To bad you have to write such a nasty review when these young men are just starting up a business. I'm a regular customer and they are always accommodating and I can be a pain in the neck...ask my husband!! Called in an order for a Fisherman's Platter around 5:40 and was told over the phone that the order would be ready at 6 I stayed at home intentionally and waited until 6:15 to go get the seafood hoping it will be done upon my arrival I show up I wait an additional 15 minutes and try to explain to them that the person over the phone told me what you do at 6 and by now it's already 6:30 then the guy behind the counter says will it's like anything else in life sometimes you have to wait well you know what I'm not willing to wait that long to get food because their food is not that good anyway since they need to improve their customer service or else they're going to lose a lot of customers and my advice to anyone don't bother calling it in because when I got there I was told the food doesn't get started till you get there anyway so don't even bother calling your order in read more

My husband and I were so excited for this seafood market to open however after 6 experiences in the store have decided to drive to Gailee again for our seafood needs. The store is clean, the prices are comparable and the selection is great. The customer service is horrible. The 2 men in the store were rude, very argumentative and seemed like they would have been much happier not working. It seemed like we were a burden when ordering or dared ask any questions about the fish. There is a possibility off popping in if we don't have the chance to drive to Gailee and I hope the service is better. read more
