Definitely on the pricier side, but you're absolutely getting your money's worth! We ordered four 12-14 oz lobster tails and two 5-6 oz tails, and holy moley--the 12-14 oz tails were HUGE! They were seriously impressive. For five adults, this was an appropriate amount of food, especially if you have plenty of sides. We were a little lighter on the side dishes, so in retrospect, I think we would've been better off ordering six of the 12-14 oz tails. Either way, there was plenty of delicious lobster to go around! Ordering was super simple. You can order online, but we had a gift certificate, so we called to place our order. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and thorough with the instructions. I even needed to change our delivery date by a day, and they were so accommodating and easy to work with. The lobster arrived right when expected and was packaged extremely well in a secure box with plenty of ice packs. And the fact that they delivered fresh Maine lobster all the way to Northern Michigan was pretty awesome! We kept the preparation super simple--just grilled the tails with a little salt, added a drizzle of fresh lemon, and dunked them in melted butter. Absolutely immaculate. It also helps that our brother-in-law is basically a grill master, haha! I would 100% order from The Lobster Guy again. I was trying to get a new order for my mom, but they are not refunding me until FedEx refund them. It is now 5/27, still no response. This is very frustrating!!! Normally, I get very good quality lobster meat; however, this last order, I was sent prepackaged lobster meat from Nova Scotia. That's not what I want when I order fresh lobster from the Maine/New England area coastline. The lobster was not as tasty as the fresh caught, plus it was chewy, probably overcooked - I was disappointed this is the product I received, and I ended up throwing out part of it. I might try The Lobster Guy one more time, but if I receive the same product, I won't order from them again. Once again we were able to get four pound and quarter lobsters as well as 3 pounds of clams sent to Nashvegas TN for the birthday. The lobsters were alive and kicking as well as all the steamers. If you're considering ordering from The Lobster Guy, please read this first. I placed an order with them on Wednesday, October 30th, requesting a delivery by Friday, November 1st, before noon. My father, who has terminal cancer with only weeks left, made a simple request for live Maine lobsters--a family tradition. I researched thoroughly and, unfortunately, believed The Lobster Guy would deliver the best service. My mother took the day off work to receive the delivery. But at noon on Friday, they updated the delivery date to Monday, November 4th. These are live lobsters, and delaying delivery by 48 hours is unacceptable. I contacted FedEx, who, to my surprise, showed more compassion than The Lobster Guy's customer service. FedEx advised that I pursue a refund through The Lobster Guy, but when I spoke with a representative, she suggested the lobsters might still arrive on Saturday and refused to issue a refund unless I opened the box and confirmed they were dead. Now, on Saturday, November 2nd, FedEx has informed me there's no rush delivery on their end, and the package is still scheduled for November 4th. Meanwhile, I can't reach anyone at The Lobster Guy--unsurprisingly. The Lobster Guy touts "next-day delivery," but that claim doesn't seem to hold true. I paid a premium for a promised service to create a meaningful memory with my father, and they failed to deliver. Save yourself the frustration and take your business elsewhere. read more

Don't count on receiving your LOBSTERS! We had a big celebration planned for a party of 10 in Southern California. Ordered approx. $480 worth of Lobsters, clams and shrimp. Decorated the house in Lobster theme, went all out. Our order was suppose to arrive Friday at noon. We received a call from Peri-shipping ( LobsterGuy out-sources the shipping and tracking work) saying our package was delayed and no other information. Thank goodness it was a M-F business day and was able to reach Haley at LobsterGuy (LG) and she was researching it. Package was delayed in Memphis. We changed our Friday dinner to Saturday Lunch as I was told it would make a connection to California. Saturday came and went, no package, changed our celebration time again. Fed Ex said they would deliver it by Monday at noon. EWWWWW and no thanks, not interested in seafood sitting around for 4 days unrefrigerated. Because kept having to change the time of our dinner, and we were a larger party, we could not get last minute reservations, so we ordered Chinese food. I understand that LG can't control FedEx. However, if you are in the business of shipping perishables, you need to have more customer service availability, a reliable shipper and empathy with the clients when something gets lost. We were on pins and needles for 3 days waiting for our package. It was stressful for our guests and us. Thankfully I purchased the insurance which was $15. I asked Haley if LG would offer us a coupon with a good discount for the hassle on the NEXT order. She was suppose to get back to me, never heard back. That was disappointing. Don't think I will order from LG again. It ended up costing us our "live-lobster" celebration and $15 for insurance and a lot of stress instead of a "live-lobster" experience for us Californians! read more

We ordered a 4 persons seafood dinner (4 whole lobsters, 2 qt mussels, 2 qts little neck clams and 36 oz of chowder) and we were overly filled up without even eating the chowder that night. This was the 4th year I have ordered lobster for my oncologist (he saved my life!). Well, he never received. The person who supposedly signed for the package did work there in the pharmacy but never saw the package. This is a very reputable Cancer Center. Well the lobster guy basically said tough luck! They basically charged me shipping for a whole new order. So the owner didn't reply since two days ago to emails I sent, but did reply to this review I made on Yelp. As you can see, he still hasn't offered any apology directly to me, and also did not make any financial offer to remedy the situation. Today, the lobster tails arrived fully thawed and clearly not edible at this point. So regardless of the reasons for the delay, when the product did arrive it was in a wet box of wet paper and smelled bad. I have had to put in a challenge to the charge on my credit card now. I'll gladly share the entire email chain anytime. I was in a bind on the night before Thanksgiving needing the food for guests the next day after being told everyday that my shipment would arrive. I sent email asking for a refund and all I got was ranting about Fed Ex, similar to what you see in the reply below. It's easy to see in the reply that this person insists he too is a victim. I paid for the product and it left his door. It took 4 days from the time I ordered for it to ship. I even said I am sorry this has been so traumatic for HIM. At no point has this person accepted any fault for this situation and now it remains to be seen how he will actually address the product arriving in wet and thawed condition. The company did a very nice job on delivering MOST of what we ordered to my father for his 82nd birthday. He said the lobster was very good! Unfortunately they didn't include the cake we had ordered, which was a major disappointment, as that was the only cake we had planned for his birthday. We wrote to the company, and while they refunded us for the cake, we felt that was not adequate. We had hoped they would send something else to my father, even if it was a logo shirt or something advertising them, because he missed out on the cake and the birthday was not as fun as it should have been.
