    Point Judith Calamari! The best
    Tanner R.

    What's better than spending the Fourth of July at Monahan's? I'm glad they were open after a day at the beach. The line wasn't too long and a friend of mine had been raving about this place so I decided to stop in for dinner. With so many seafood options on the menu, it was hard to decide. But you can never go wrong with Point Judith calamari to start. And for my entree I did the swordfish tacos on the specials menu. WOW! What flavor they packed in them. I ate in back which is shaded and even brought a beer from my cooler. What a fantastic experience, I can't wait to bring others here especially the location in Narragansett!

    Food was great! Can't deny that - the hot lobster roll was greasy and buttery as heck but it didn't make me sick - though I only had half of mine and traded with my partner for her cold lobster roll. Which was also great! Add fried and some pretty nothing coleslaw, and two sodas, and we're $75 in the hole for something that left us wanting more... but it was undeniably good, and stacked high. We knew it would be expensive and we were ready to splurge on it. Unfortunate that we were left hungry but that's probably more of a personal problem. Outdoor seating was nice! We lucked out and got a bench right as people were filtering out. I'd go again but maybe try a cheaper option.

    We had spent the morning at Ninigret Park and Monahan's was an awesome spot to grab lunch afterwards. There were a ton of people there for lunch. but they did a great job at getting through the line and getting everyone's orders out the door quickly. We got the mozzarella sticks, fried whole belly clams, cold lobster roll, and the red chowder. The red chowder was really good and definitely something I'd order again. The lobster roll was jam packed with lobster which I appreciated, but I think they use Miracle Whip. And well, I just can't 100% get behind miracle whip, it just doesn't taste great. The whole belly clams were hot and fresh. They have two seating areas with a ton of picnic tables. It was packed so we had to share with someone else, which worked out just fine. They have a basketball hoop which all the kids were loving, but it was right in the middle of the back parking lot. When it's busy there are way too many cars going through there for the kids to be playing there. They also have a large field with cornholde setup. We loved their secret garden seating area and appreciated the additional overflow parking on the lawn on the back side of the building.

    Clam fritters with real clams inside, whole belly claims. Five star, perfection. Nice location with new owners since the location has been here forever. Ice cream Is ok, but not large scoops at all. My two scoop cup was more like one. IF they had soft serve they would be ALL that!!!!!! The location. Is lovely with outside seating

    This road side clam shack used to be The Hitching Post for as long as I remember. I actually headed down here with a friend returning to RI after being away for 20 years because she had a nostalgic craving for clam fritters from the former restaurant. Welp. We found out it was operated by Monahan's en route but she wanted to go to the spot to check it out and see if it tracked with what she remembered. It was-only better! It still has the vintage feel of the roadside clam shack. Order at the window and get your food. Pleasant counter staff were patient with a steady line of Saturday lunch patrons ahead of us. It always cracks me up when people aren't sure what they want to order after standing in front of the menu board for ten minutes in line...but I digress. They had a really nice selection of seafood offerings that were mostly fried. We each opted for the lobster roll (one hot and one cold) and split a 1/2 dozen clam cakes (aka fritters). Believe me - you will want to order more clam cakes than that, but don't. They are tasty, crispy and loaded with clams but they are filling!! Three per person leaves you with fried food regret, but not terrible. The lobster rolls were about $25 each and so worth it. Mostly claw and knuckle meat that had minimal Mayo and NO celery...exactly the way I prefer. Generous portion of lobster nestled on fresh green lettuce leaf in a toasted brioche bun. I never eat the bun, preferring to just enjoy the lobster. I got a side of hot butter to dip the lobster meat. Excellent call! Some folks did take their orders on the road. We grabbed a picnic table in the beautifully shaded side garden. The helpful staff brought our order to our table after a very short wait. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, service and location. No obscenely long lines, easy parking in their private lot and a nice quiet area to enjoy the meal. AND - there's cornhole to pass the time while you wait for food or to entertain the kids. Real bathrooms in the back that are clean and accessible eating areas for young and old. I'd actually drive the 20 minutes south and avoid the usual hot spots to go here in the future. I think you should, too (;

    One of the best lobster rolls I've had! Definitely top tier in RI. We came here for a Saturday lunch and it wasn't too busy yet. We ordered, found a table under the tent, and got our order within 10 minutes. Lobster roll was delicious and had lots of meat!

    During my trip to New England I had to get a lobster roll and clam cakes. Monagan's did not disappoint! The lobster roll was packed with fresh hot lobster and the clam cakes were fried to perfection. Great spot to stop and have a nice meal.

There is also a very bountiful selection of desserts. Today I went with the maple bacon slices and garlic knots as appetizers and both were delicious. For my mains I picked the baked stuffed shrimp and the prime rib. The prime rib was excellent so I actually went back for seconds. I had a baked potato plus a small salad for sides. The maple bacon was very good and since it is kind of hard to find in restaurants I went ahead and got a couple of more slices of it to top off my dinner. Their dessert bar has so many different offerings that it wasn't easy to decide on what I wanted but I ended up picking a slice of carrot cake along with a brownie plus a dollop of whipped cream to add to the brownie. One of the things I like about their dessert bar is that the servers there give you the option of only getting a half slice of their cakes which is great because that way you're saving room to try even more of their options instead of getting too full from just one thing. It's really the best way to go and you will get to try more of their delicious desserts that way. They have plenty of options here for food and no one ever leaves hungry. We arrived almost an hour earlier than our scheduled reservation but they were nice enough to let us sit down and start dining right away. And we were all hungry when we got there so it was nice that they let us dig in early. We had Josh as a server and he was a pleasure to deal with. He is very attentive and helpful. He even gave my mother some good tips on cracking the lobsters and getting the meat out more easily which was very much appreciated. He was great as far as clearing plates, refilling beverages and making sure we were satisfied with our meals. A very good worker and a skilled waitperson. I stopped into the gift shop after the meal and they had a nice beer glass with their Nordic logo on it as a gift to me for dining with them during my birthday week. The outdoor grounds were nice to hang out and relax for a while before the drive back to Boston. They have benches and hammocks set up plus it was great to see the live animals such as horses and alpacas that they have on the property. They also had a music band playing outside for entertainment. Superb food and a great dining experience. I am already looking forward to our next visit!

Decided on the clam chowder, pot stickers, and fish and chips. Chowder came piping hot with a bag of crackers. Chowder was good, nice and creamy, not many clams but plenty of potatoes. Next came the pot stickers and was surprised to find they were deep fried. The dish came with a sesame dipping sauce that had a very enjoyable bite to it. This was the star of lunch. The dough was fried perfectly, good crunch and texture and the chicken inside was juicy, flavorful and well spiced. There plenty on the plate and could have been a meal by themselves. The fish was disappointing. Although it was very fresh and it was flounder which surprised me as I thought it was ground up fish formed into a patty. The flavor was good but the texture I didn't find pleasant. Fish was very small flakes which might have which was what I didn't care for. Been a long time since I've had flounder. Also the coating was pretty thick, had to really work at it to get to the fish. The.fish came with a huge order of fries which could probably be cut in half and would still be plenty with the dish. Small containers of Coleslaw and tartar sauce were provided. Will return for the pot stickers for sure and maybe go back to having the rib steak sandwich has been good in the past. Seating is comfortable with booths and tables available and there is a large bar area with plenty of tvs.
