It definitely has the little clam shack vibes that makes the experience feel even more authentic. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I ordered a clam chowder cup and a hot lobster roll. I don't know if it was because I was there in the winter, but the lobster roll was generally affordable, running you only a bit over $27 which is almost unheard of these days. And they didn't skimp out on the meat too ! The lobster roll was filled to the brim and so delicious. The clam chowder was also incredible. I also love that they have a little market in case you want to make any of their seafood at home ! Will definitely become a staple when I come back to visit my parents.

I went on a rainy Monday around noon and there was still a steady flow of customers. It seems to be a pretty popular spot. The staff is all very friendly. The soups were served to us immediately after paying. The New England Clam Chowder was good. Nice amount of clams and very creamy. I had never had Rhode Island Clam Chowder before and this seemed like the place to try it. The clear broth was surprisingly flavorful but I still prefer New England. My girlfriend and I ordered a good amount and the food came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the kung pao calamari. The squid was fried perfectly and having the sauce on the side was nice as it didn't leave the breading to get all soggy and I had control over how sweet it would be. The stuffed Quahogs tasted good but I feel like I tasted more of the stuffing over the actual shellfish. It still tasted good, but I feel like I should've gotten more shellfish. We were told they ran out of shells to serve them on so the presentation was off, but they were still tasty. The lobster rolls were both good. They were $27 which seems pretty steep to me but they were actually on the cheaper side compared to other places we saw around Newport. The lobster tasted fresh and the bread was good. They were solid lobster rolls. The food was all solid, but for the price I wasn't wowed.

The pandemic that has impacted us all, has impacted some industries more than others. In the…read moreNewport area, one of the things that many people considered was the impact that dining and tourism took a toll on the food industry. For that, I was proud to be part of the upswelling to stand with businesses so that they could continue to provide for their families. Newport lobster made a huge effort to bridge the gap so that consumers could still access their seafood. I found out that Newport lobster was doing direct sale from a Facebook group I'm a part of and it just said to call them and tell them what you wanted and what sizes. After that you were to just drive up, and they would hand you your lobsters! I was thrilled and I came by two times with a check in hand to happily pay for my lunches and dinners that these lobsters would turn into. On my first purchase, I think the lobsters were about 9 to $10 a pound and I got two lobsters at about a pound and a quarter to a pound and a half. They were feisty and once cooked, were delicious and I couldn't wait to go back and get more. On my second trip I think they were both about a pound and a half and once again they cooked up delightfully and I enjoyed every bite. The team at Newport lobster were friendly and helpful and I felt like they took the social distancing seriously with sufficient protective equipment and distancing during orders. I hope that they are able to weather the storm on this pandemic so that they can bounce back when the industry does and continue to provide aquidneck restaurants with great seafood.

Lots of local businesses from seafood to veggies to coffee. One of my favorites are the croissants from Olga's Cup and Saucer, that's based in Providence. An English bakery from Middletown called June Love's have some amazing lemon tarts (which tends to sell out quickly). There's also a local vendor who sells cute baby onesies and kids shirts that I've picked up in the past for my now 1-year-old. Price range from vendor to vendor can go from reasonable to "damn those are some pricey mushrooms!" - I mostly swing by for the croissants and lemon tarts, if they're around that week. It's also nice you can still do a bit a wine tasting inside during the winter months.

It's easy to find what you need all at reasonable prices. I prefer this Saturday market to the one on Wednesdays off of Memorial Boulevard in Newport because there is plenty of parking in the Newport Vineyard parking lot. I recently discovered that there is an early morning Yoga class that is offered before the market opens in the area as well. That's what I call a diverse farmer's market! They're open every Saturday from 9am-1pm from June through November. Plan some great meals and meet your farmers who are growing your food!

As noted above we have eaten here in the past. We have dined with large as well as small groups and have always been pleased. The place is beautiful, especially in the summer. The outdoor patio bar boasts a great view of Green End Pond. A great place to grab a drink and an appetizer. We started out on the patio and returned later for dinner. Based on our sub par experience the night before (see prior review) I was committed to having a great meal. We were not disappointed. I started with the clam chowder. Delicious. Flavorful and loaded with clams. My wife opted for the lobster bisque In an effort to negate the lousy lobster bisque she had on the previous night. Mission accomplished. She described it as buttery and creamy. Essentially the perfect bisque flavor. Contained within the bisque was a tremendous chunk of delicious lobster meat . For dinner, I chose the baked stuffed shrimp. It was delicious. Cooked to perfection with delicious stuffing, rice, pilaf, and broccoli. My only complaint is that I believe there should be more than 4 shrimp at this price. My wife selected the Pasta Bolognese. A dish that she has had and several other restaurants in several states and she ranked this right at the top of the list. Plenty of beef and pork combined with a tasty Italian sauce. When in the Newport area I suggest you skip the over hyped restaurants and head to Johnny's for a delicious meal with great atmosphere.

Asked the waitress to cut it in half she had to consult with another waitress asking, can I send this back to be cut in half The bill comes with an automatic 20% gratuity added, large group of us. I pay with a 100 bill, was very pricey and the waitress asked if I wanted change !! I said yes please I see your tip is included in the bill ... really a 40.00 tip! I was not impressed. Pricey, and subpar food. The band was great, Nice location as well.
