Plus the movers got into an accident during the move, and ignored me during the process of handling the accident, while my stuff was in their truck.. I had to figure out what happened from people on the scene. When I asked for a discount because of the stress, the accident caused, they refused to offer me a discount or to reimburse me for the overcharge. Needless to say, I am not a satisfied customer.

I am very disappointed with my experience with Solomon & Sons…read more At first, they were professional, attentive, and responsive, which gave me confidence in choosing them for our cross-country move from California to Florida. Unfortunately, the actual moving experience was very different. What I did not fully understand when booking was that Solomon & Sons would not be providing point-to-point service using their own trucks and moving crew. Our belongings were picked up by another company, Move Happy, and transferred for delivery. Had I understood how much of the move would be handled by another company, I may have made a different choice. I was originally given a binding estimate of $7,482.44. We added items, so I reasonably expected the price to increase. However, our belongings were already loaded before I was presented with revised paperwork showing a final price of $10,589.19. More concerning was the condition of our belongings. Boxes marked FRAGILE arrived crushed, numerous pieces of furniture and personal belongings were damaged or broken, and we were missing three boxes, a set of shoe cabinets, and a cooler. When I contacted customer service about the missing items, I was told they could not locate them. They did tell me they had found the plastic shoe boxes, but that they had been damaged by the sun and were deformed. I was asked if I still wanted them. At that point, I said no because they had already told me they were damaged and no longer useful. I specifically asked them to make sure the damaged shoe boxes were documented on their end, even though I did not want them sent to me. When you hire a professional moving company, you expect them to take responsibility for your belongings from pickup through delivery. Instead, it felt like there was very little accountability once our belongings were handed off to another company. Solomon & Sons may be professional and attentive during the booking process, but based on our experience, that level of professionalism did not carry through to the actual handling, delivery, or resolution of our missing and damaged belongings. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Solomon & Sons for a long-distance move.

When I first spoke with Hector over the phone, I felt like this was going to work out well because…read morethey were available same day, they take credit card payments, and he assured me that all of their workers are background checked and drug tested, and that we would be in good hands. Little did I know what would end up transpiring. I was originally quoted about $900 for half a days work. My husband was on site for the move and he reported back to me throughout the day that the three workers were standing around and talking often, and when they got to our house, they would not unload until the credit card payment was made. I was astounded to see over $2000 charged on the credit card, my husband had to call them and they said that they had charged for the amount that they thought the total cost of the move would be, he told them that we only had them for about four hours and that this amount did not make any sense, so they initiated a refund. The original refund was only $300 less which was incorrect, so he had to call a second time to get the correct refund amount. When the movers came back to try and say that they would take the rest of our items he told him not to bother that he would find someone else to finish the job. I feel disappointed that I was led to believe that they were a great company and that this transpired.

1. Completely misleading pricing. Based on their quote I was expecting a $1500-2000 move. It came…read morein at over $5300. They advertise $179 per hour but then tack on 1.5x for anything over 8hrs and then charge an extra 25% for basically no reason for EVERYTHING except to false advertise at lower rate. Then they don't send enough guys to do the job so a 6-8 hour job turns into 14.5 hrs. 2. The truck they sent was too small as well. So on top of paying 3x for the job, it was only 85% complete. I have a 300lb armoir cabinet sitting in my kitchen and a huge table in my garage. Thanks assholes. Save the hard stuff for last. 3. If they are gonna give you an estimate, it should list the expected number of hours and material charges. These guys tacked on $1000 for tape, bubble rap and boxes. Absurd. Management should had an idea of how long the job will take and relay that to the customer. The guys doing the job weren't that bad but it shouldn't have been 14.5 hours and they shouldn't have left the heaviest items at my place. I feel the management is at fault here for trying to milk every hour they can at overtime and then tack on 25% just because. Sorry Good Greek, you're just as bad as the rest of them.

Due to closing issues, I had to push my move date Back 2 days. He said he'd be able to do it in the afternoon and that he would be there between 2:00 and 3:00pm depending on how the job before mine went. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day, and they didn't get to me until 6:00pm. They wanted to push it to the next day but I insisted we had to do it that day because literally all of our stuff was packed and ready to go. I ordered one truck and two movers for our two bedroom, one bath duplex. My fiance and I did a lot of moving before they even arrived, essentially just leaving the furniture for them and some boxes. Their attitude seemed Brusque but it was probably because they were just tired from however many moves they had that day. They wrapped most of my furniture carefully with blankets, but I must say I was not pleased with the way that they moved my grandfather clock. The second mover, Alex, said "well this is fragile" when looking at my clock. I was like yes that's why I hired Movers. They didn't even know you had to take the pendulum out of the clock when moving it. They refused to take my very small TV off of the wall, and told me they would have to charge extra for that which I have never heard before. That was frustrating. They made a dent in my baseboard and scratched a lot of paint in my newly painted residence, and then gave me attitude when I asked when they were going to fix it. He then begrudgingly said that he would send somebody over Saturday to fix it. That guy was nice and did an okay job. They worked very hard but I think it would have gone faster with three movers. It would have been nice to have a discount since they were over 3 hours late also. I'm not sure if I would use them again, but I'm glad that we are finally in our new place with the damage fixed (aside from the clock).
