I went here as a walk in Friday, wanting to get my nails done and eye brows. What resulted was getting burned by the wax from my eye brows. I know usually getting your brows done, they are red for a few hours later. However, my brows were so red and painful I had to put burn cream on them after, turns our she burned my skin off. I still have scabs around my brows from it. Don't go here from brows unless you want the bruned off! read more

Came here for a pedicure after work and had a very pleasant experience! And I'm pretty particular about my pedis. It was very quiet considering the neighborhood and time of day, and the service was efficient but not rushed. Good massage chairs and a nice big selection of polishes. I was in town for a friends wedding and was looking for somewhere to pamper a day before. this place was the only one closest to my hotel so that brought me here. I asked if they had time for a walk in since there was only 2 ladies working there at the time. she took me, and the phone and answered calls all throughout my service. I can understand that, but she was also rushing so fast through my service i was done before the other woman in there was done soaking her feet during a pedi. the quality was really poor and I was mad she didn't just tell me to come back when she could have 10mins to do them right. once I sat down to dry her appointment came in. better believe she took her time on that woman instead of me. **customer service tip: when we ask if you have time for a service and you don't, say no. it's okay. read more

Lovely nail salon just a block or two from Pike Place Market. I stopped in last week at 5:15pm as a walk in. I didn't catch their names but the college aged guy (in the Star Wars shirt) and the new young gal who went to culinary school did such a great job on my nails. I walked in on a random Tuesday afternoon and I was taken back to the pedicure chair right away. The young lady who did my pedi took her time with everything, she gave the best massage, it felt like it was 5 minutes on each leg( probably wasn't that long exactly). She's better than anyone I've had in Austin and the rates are great too! The drinks are wonderful, the location is always clean (and packed! After reading the reviews I was scared to go here, but I usually give a place a shot before I decide to hate a place. As I just moved here from Texas i was looking for a place to do my nails. I chose ocean nail spa since it's right next door to where I live. I walked in asked for 3 pedís and shellac nails (seems like no one in Seattle offers dips) they immediately sat us down (down fall they didn't ask what kind of pedi I wanted) so they just did a basic ($30 a little pricey) but they were really nice and my nails look good. I've been to other places where they "buff" and "clip" the skin around your nails but they're usually in a hurry that it doesn't really do anything for you. At Ocean's you can get a massage worth your money even at a basic mani. Staff are friendly and attentive, even during the wait and dry process Downside Hard to make reservations. I made a reservation for 3 and they sounded like they never got it. Often people come in saying they've made reservations but they don't seem to have received it or didn't plan for it because the customers still have to wait. So I recommend walk-ins. I used to go here frequently, but I've stopped because the experience is so inconsistent. There are visits that I'd rate 5-stars, but my most recent gel manicure didn't even last 10 days (usually they're good for 2 weeks), and my friend's pedicure was so bad that it had to be redone. They also use an electric file to expedite removing existing gels, but that means my natural nails are sometimes nicked and become especially thin. The point of soak-off gels is to avoid having to file them down that way. You might get lucky and have a great experience here, but after one too many poor experiences I'll be going elsewhere. read more

I payed the $35 and wanted to leave a $5 tip as they did an okay job. The women who painted my fingers insisted on a $10 tip (more than I wanted to pay). She acted like she did not speak English (she may very well have not) and forced me to pay. The women who did my toes felt badly and said I didn't have to. It was too late the mean lady already swiped my debit card and gave herself $10. Umm no. Also the manicure chipped within a day (cheap nail polish). The people are rude and the service is crappy. I will start off with the positive: - Great recommendation on the color - Friendly people - Nice atmosphere - Reasonable prices Negative: I walked in at 6:45pm and they close at 7:30pm. The first lady who was helping me was very nice however her boss or whoever the older lady was, told her to go home and she'll take over. I wish this never happened. The desperation of wanting to go home was quite transparent with this older lady. She only put one layer of color cuz she said they were closing. She didn't even let my hands dry and kept touching them. The whole manicure was an entire disaster. I asked her that my entire manicure was messed up, she sighed outta frustration, took the clear coating nail polish and replaced it on top instead of using the actual color itself. She did this twice after messing up my nails...twice. 3.5 stars I had walked by Ocean Nail & Spa a couple weeks ago and thought it was really pretty. I didn't have a need for a mani then, but on Valentine's Day I thought I would treat myself to one. There was no one there at around 10:30am so being a walk-in was no problem. I think the girl that helped me was Thanh. I was seated immediately after I chose my color. Thanh and I had a hard time holding a conversation because of a language barrier. It was a little annoying because she kept asking me the same questions. Even though I was the only customer, she rushed through the process and was a little rough along the way. Beware! Friendly staff but painful manicure. Freezing open warehouse, uncomfortable for a pedicure. The owner did my manicure and removed my existing gel with an electric file. She cut me on multiple fingers, and my nails are now weak and brittle. After that, she soaked my nails for about 10 minutes and used the harshest grade file available. I was scared my nails would rip off. She also didn't have the UV go for the right amount of time, so I'm sure the polish will come off soon. Never going back. read more

I got a Deluxe pedicure here with my best girlfriend and my husband (yes, we talked my husband into getting a pedicure. Shhh, don't tell his manly friends!). There was definitely a language barrier problem. The gal who worked on my feet seemed sweet enough but when I tried to tell her helpful things such as "I'm ticklish," or "ow, that's hot" it didn't seem to make a difference in her technique. Although body language such as a reflexive-jerking-away certainly got her to move that hot stone when she left it on one spot for too long! The prices are decent and overall she did a good job, although since I couldn't really communicate effectively with her, I feel like she was too rough even on the message-y parts of the pedicure, and her fingernails were long and sharp and digging into my flesh, so that took away from the relaxing experience as well. But then again, it's not like I was shouting at her; I hate seeing customers be all rude and uppity with the staff, so like a good Seattlelite I try not to be too demanding. Instead of telling me helpful things like, "OK, put that foot back in the water; I'm ready to work on the other one," she'd just grab my calf/ankle and start tugging up on my leg; I thought she was just massaging me at first and didn't understand what she wanted me to do and so it was kind of painful. It took me awhile to catch on that such a motion meant "switch feet." Also, I noticed later on she didn't seem consistent with how she filed the shape of my nails, and she missed polishing the side of two of my toenails completely. Still, these are the kind of small details that only I would notice; my toes look great otherwise. On the other hand, the lady who worked on my husband's feet seemed to be able to communicate better, but even so he was bleeding out two of his toes from her digging up so much under his nail beds. And she clipped and rounded his big toes WAY too much. Not only did his toenails look kind of girly, but clipping your toenails too round invites ingrown toenails later on. His feet look great otherwise, and all his nasty dragon hide callouses are gone. My girlfriend seemed to like it; she's the one who recommended it, and I don't think her feet are nearly as sensitive as mine or my husband's. Bottom line: if you like it rough, you'll like it here. If you're lucky enough to get a technician who is more communicative, you'll probably do fine as well. If you're sensitive to pain/tickling and need someone to actually talk to you about what's coming next, you'll probably have a "meh" experience like I did. read more

Honestly the WORST experience I've ever had. I'm not the one to write reviews but this incident made me extremely upset. I had two broken nails, and I had just gotten them done, I usually go to the Nail Bar located behind California Pizza south enter BLVD, across the street from seattle's local mall.. Anywho, I decided to try somewhere new near my job, located in downtown Seattle. I came in and waited about 15 minutes which is my ideal time... Wasn't busy, more slow paced but people were still being tended to. It was made clear that only one woman was able to do my particular need that time. She told me, it would cost $30 for a color change, fixed nail(s) and a different shape to my nails. I sat down and she told me that I had needed a fill soon and when I were to come, promise I'd come to her so I promised.. Because to me, the spa was very relaxing.. Somewhere I could perhaps get used to.. Anyways, she finishes my nails and I'm the two that were fixed were way shorter than my rest of my nails so I mentioned to her, "hey these two are extremely short??" And she looked at me saying, "yes, they'll grow when you get fill" I sucked it up knowing I were new here and didn't want to start tension between the air so she finished... Getting ready to pay she then told the lady that was at the cash register I only had to pay $20!! I was so happy... Because I saved me, well tons of mula. Usually I spend around $35-40... Not even 2 hours after, my nail breaks this time a total different nail... I noticed it was very, very thin... The fake nail, pretty much measured to be the width of my natural nail. I thought to myself, wow.. She made my acrylics very thin .. So I told myself after work the following day I'd go back. While at work, I noticed my left hand, index finger was too breaking slightly. So, after work I went in and I told her hey, you made my nails very very thin. If you thought I needed a fill that's all you had to tell me instead of making my nails thinner... ( I had gotten my nails done 2 1/2 weeks before, so I was in shape for no fill just yet) anywho, she kept going against my word and said, ok, $10 for both nails to be fixed.. I looked at her and said $10??? But this isn't my fault?? It's yours.. The mother and her started speaking their language and the lady than looked down and said very mad/sadly, ok I do for free but next time I won't. After her mother had demanded she fix my nails her whole body language had changed. She then grabbed my hand and shook it in the air showing her mother. I couldn't believe this is how she were acting.. I was flabbergasted. She then started to take my nail off with a fake nail, anyone who knows the life of fake nails, knows... That's how they take them off.. Ever wonder why it doesn't seem to work for us on our own? Lol but she started stabbing at my finger and being very very rough... I was in shock.. She then said, "next time you go to different nail shop" i then took my hand back and told her she was being very rough with me and she didn't have to be that Rough also telling her my experience yesterday was nothing like this and that she's doing this on purpose. The Pain was crucial because my nail was so thin. She knew exactly what she was doing. I told her to please not touch me because it made no sense on why she wanted to hurt me like that. Her mother then came over and worked on my nails. Her daughter wouldn't stop looking at me the whole time, my friend as my witness was just at ah at the whole situation. I just came off a 30 hour Africa - Seattle trip that just about wiped me out. Now, if I were a drinker, the successful completion of that grueling journey would have called for a beer or three, but since I'm not, I headed down 1st Ave and walked in the first "mani-pedi" place I saw. Ocean Nail is clean, well presented, and adequately staffed. The pedicure chairs have built in back massages that helped, in my case, to undo 30 hours of stress. Two ladies worked simultaneously to remedy the damage caused by doing my own nails while living in Morocco. They were both sweet and competent, but not very chatty due to their limited English. That is not a fault. It was just that I was in the mood to chat. $35 for a mani/pedi combo is reasonable, and I felt thoroughly taken care of. read more

Took some clients here and they seemed to have had a nice polish job. I was disappointed overall. There were two women who were faster and more competent when it came to polishing. My lady unfortunately had zero skills. For a $60 mani pedi I expect a lot. Really bad polish job. She put it on too thick and made a mess of my toes with red polish. I was also supposed to get a full 15 min massage for hands and another for feet. It was more like 10 on the feet and 8 on the hands. Felt like I was ripped off big time. Downtown Seattle is in dire need of better places! Also, these women didn't wash their hands in between clients. I won't be going back here. I would rather pay the same amount at Nordstrom's spa or a better and more sanitary place. read more

This is a very clean shop and the ladies are really nice! My preference is to get french tip diamond nails (they dip your nails in diamond powder and use a buffer to polish instead of gel or polish. a lot stronger, more natural looking, & healthier for your nails). It took me about 10 minutes to try to explain it. They don't have it. But she told me she will make my full set gel nails as natural as possible, and she did a fantastic job, and it only cost me $35! I made an appointment for a fill in and pedicure in two weeks, I will update then! read more

i LOVE pedis... and i LOVE getting them done here when i am downtown : ) making an appointment isn't necessary, but when you do it they allot a good amount of time for your nails to get done and i never feel rushed to finish up and get out of the chair (HUGE plus!!) the staff here is so sweet and friendly and i am pleased with the great job they do on my toesies every single time! for the price you pay based on the location and including all the little extras they throw in with your package it's a steal! read more

Wow! Went here for the first time. Got the gel nails which usually last 2 weeks which is great. These nails are still going strong after 30 days (the gel makes them sturdy). They have grown out 1/4 inch without chipping. I prefer to wait to peel them off instead of the brutal removal process. My nails are longer than they have ever been and are looking a little funny with the grow out. Not sure what they did different but it's the longest lasting nails ever. Wish they were on the eastside. Very impressed. read more

I just went here for one last pedicure before my baby is born (since I can't reach my own feet). They were great! It was pretty busy when I arrived, but they put me in the massage chair to soak my tired feet while I waited. I got the basic pedicure for $25, and the woman did a great job and was really thorough. The place was well ventilated, so I didn't have to worry about the fumes I might be breathing. I'll definitely go back. read more

I am here in Seattle for a week and needed a mani refresh. The woman who did my nails was suuuuper-slow and did a pretty crappy job. She trashed my cuticles (they are super-ragged now) and the paint job is all bubbly. Literally, every nail has at least one huge bubble and my thumbnails have several bubbles each. I pointed this out before leaving to the manager and she just threw on another layer of topcoat. ??? When I asked for a two-color french, it blew their minds and the manager actually told me it wouldn't "look pretty." Excuse me? I do believe I'm the one paying... $20 for a wretched french and ragged cuticles is no deal. Oh, and only one girl spoke English fluently. Ocean Nails always has a spot for me (I usually call at least 30 minutes prior), is very friendly and courteous, and always follows through with excellent manis, pedis, brow waxing etc! Disappointing, I walked in and asked for a manicure pedicure. I was asked to wait 30 minutes and during that time I decided all I really needed was the manicure. When they got to me, she seemed very adamant that I wanted a manicure pedicure. When she started my my gel manicure, rather than soaking off my old gel she used an electronic sander to remove it. When she started using a file across the top of my nails I asked her to stop because I didn't want my nails to be thin and she seemed very irritated. The gel applications were sloppy and at the end she used a file on my tips which made me lose the usual nice finish. I will not return. read more

I live right next to this place so decided to try a pedicure. First off, the girls don't speak English hardly at all, so don't expect to have any type of conversation with them. Secondly, I didn't get any cell signal in the salon and they don't have wi-fi. Sad face. Third, the massage chair I sat in did not work, so (instead of switching chairs like a normal person) I sat the whole time with the massager balls digging awkwardly into my back. She did an OK job with my cuticles, but once she started the massage I was like WOAH. This girl was literally grinding what felt like glass fragments into my calves. This was not a gentle soothing massage, ladies. I don't understand why she wanted to slough off three layers of skin, but I was so shocked that I didn't say anything to her. Why? Because I'm a stupid girl and I became frozen with pain. So I let her continue to grind the broken sea shells into my legs and feet for the next 5 minutes. Once she was done with the sandpaper, she did a great job with the nail polish. My little piggies came out very cute and the polish was even and shiny. But my calves were bright red, ow! The polish only lasted a few days and I wasn't happy with my cuticles (I had to trim some snagglies that very night at home), so I don't think I'll be back. read more

Pretty bad polish job. Manicure wasn't great either -- the harsh manicurist filed into my finger with a brittle nail file. Polish job kept getting bumpy and bubbly, maybe because the nail polish was old, maybe because she was coating too heavily, but all in all she had to redo them 3.5 times. I walked in about 6p for a Shellac manicure and was overly pleased with my results. Wish I had taken a photo in the end but was in such a rush to get to dinner It slipped my mind. The pain was so nicely executed around my nails, none on my cuticles. It was merely perfect, no bubbles, no flaws, what so ever. She was meticulous about attention to detail. My boyfriend always wanted to get a foot massage. We were around the place one day and we decided to walk in and try their foot massage. It started out pretty well. Nice strength and techniques with nice massage chairs to sit on. When they took out hot rocks to massage my foot, I said it was a little too hot on one side of my foot but nothing was changed. The language barrier definitely affected our experience there. Also, in the middle of the massage, some workers came in and were fixing some appliances in the back which created lots of loud noise. Other than these two problems, the experience was pretty nice. It was 25 bucks for 30 minutes massage, which is about similar to other places we found. The atmosphere was modern and clean and nice, the people knew what they were doing except that they need to understand customers' request. read more

I'm still hurting from my pedicure yesterday. The woman who did my nails ripped the cuticle CLEAR out -- about 1/2" of skin -- up and out! It's still red, swollen, and stinging today. Also, the polish job was pretty poor. I looked closer after I'd left and noticed there was polish on my skin in certain spots. The staff (or least this person) was not well trained at all. I would not submit my feet to this again and would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately that was not the case. $30 for a decent pedicure is not bad! I actually wanted the deluxe but I thought they'd ask me so I didn't say anything...that's my bad! I brought my own sandals so I wouldn't ruin my pedicure and once done I asked if I could sit there since I didn't want to walk home in the rain w/ flip flops and risk falling. Was given the ok and I got on my phone. I was only sitting there for 6 mins (had my phone in my hand so I knew exactly how long it'd been) when what seemed to be the owner or manager came over and very passively aggressive tried to kick me out! She took off my toe separators, made me put my sandals on, and put soap and sponge in the tub. I'd understand if they were busy and needed the chair but I was the only one in the chairs (3 ladies were getting manis but that's on the other side of the room). Also, my nail polish hadn't dried! This was bad enough where I wasn't happy about my experience but was willing to give the place another shot. However, 2 days later I realized that I had been charged twice, once for the $30 and again for the $30 plus tip! I called the salon about it and was told to come in so that they could refund me. I had a flight that day so I hurried to the salon to take care of the situation before I left the country. When I get there the same lady that was kicking me out said she couldn't refund me because she didn't have the receipt for the $30. Of course she didn't because I only signed for the charge of $30 plus tip! After going back and forth for what seemed like an eternity I was told that she'd check w/ her bank and if I actually was charged then she would write me a check. A check? Really?!?! Also, I know I was charged because there are 2 different charges posted to my account (not pending)! It was a complete waste of time!!! My mom and I had been wanting to get our nails done since we were on vacation and we had stumbled across to this nail salon. It seemed to be going well at first but the red flag was after scrubbing our feet they never rinsed our feet which is highly unsanitary. Second, the moment other people started coming in they didnt even finish painting our nails and the owner was rushing us off to dry off our nails and without even our nails being fully dried we had to put our shoes back on and be on our way. I ususally don't write reviews but I really liked this place so thought I would write about it. I've been to a few nail salons in the Seattle area and this by far is my favorite one. I went in on Saturday with my friends to get mani/pedi. When we walked in we were greeted right away. The front desk person was very friendly. He also offered us water while we were soaking our feet. Went there for a lunchtime manicure. The place itself is clean, but when a manicurist pulled out a dirty cuticle nipper - I should have run away, but I didn't. Big mistake. the file and buffer she was trying to use on my nails were both previously used. I had to stop her and asked to get the clean ones. They were understaffed that day, so when another customer walked in while she was doing painting my nails, she rushed to finish them. The result - I got nail polish around my nails and under....
