The staff was nice enough to accommodate us, even though things were starting to book up and even gave us some breakfast vouchers as an empathetic "we understand what you're going through". The room was great and even the "no ocean view" gave us a very nice partial ocean view which we enjoyed. The hotel is a great location and central too many things you'll need for a family visiting. Definitely check out the wonderful coffee shop across the street from the gas station. One note for hotel staff, which I already provided feedback on, is that the staff attending to you during breakfast are very hit or miss. For example, when I asked for hot black tea, I was told they only had herbal tea. However, I know, for a fact, they had black tea as I saw others drinking it, and it was available in the rooms. Unfortunately they couldn't seem to find any, and I was given Lipton black tea instead, which was a disappointment for the amount of money we were paying to stay there the time it took for staff to wait on us was a Billy slow and each time we ordered the food that was delivered was either incorrect, cold or the waitress seemed utterly confused at what we were ordering or what we were asking for. I'm not sure she spoke more than a few words of English to be perfectly honest, and while I normally do not complain about such things, it greatly inhibited our ability to kick off the morning on a good note. Despite the restaurant, however, everything about the hotel and the front desk, staff, and the location were fantastic, and I would highly recommend.

Most rooms have either a side or front view a view of the ocean and balconies. The hotel is clean and looks to be recently renovated. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are quiet. The location is ideal in that you can easily drive up to Duck for its cute shops and restaurants or down to Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head for more restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Parking is free. You just need to place a hang tag on your rear view mirror to show you are a guest at the hotel.

Very pricey per night, $400+, dated rooms, broken ironing board, patio door, and shower curtain,…read moreroom not well cleaned, TV channels didn't work (stated no connection for live TV), continental breakfast mediocre at best.. we stay at Hampton all the time, never usually have an issue, would not recommend this one. Lesson learned. The covered/recessed balcony provided privacy from next-door neighbors and provided beautiful views of the sunrise/beach. Staff friendly and accommodating, breakfast offerings included egg items (scrambled, omelettes), meat (bacon chicken sausage/links), seasoned potatoes, cereal, breads,pastries/scones, Belgian waffle station (churro flavor was different), oatmeal, and coffee/tea/hot cocoa/juice, and fresh fruit. Coffee/tea/cocoa and citrus water station near entrance/front desk stocked 24/7. Beach is great for shelling/walking. I found the location to be conveniently located for shopping, food, Historic Corolla Village, Currituck Lighthouse, Currituck Beach Maritime Forest Trail Lookout (wheel chair accessible boardwalk to lookout; hiking trail through forest off boardwalk), and 4x4 beach access. If you're expecting to see wild Spanish mustangs, chances are slim and I recommend investing in a horse tour on 4x4 beach. Well worth the money (tours may be closed for season, so dbl check hours/offerings). If you're into sightseeing, you are ~ 1 hour drive to Bodie Lighthouse, Coquina Beach, and Pea Island. Hatteras is further south ~ 2 hours. I love visiting in the off seasons n and was surprised the number of businesses and restaurants still open during Thanksgiving holiday.

The complex has "been…read morerenovating for All those years" Granted we only pay between 300 and 800 using our timeshare.............But this stay has been the worst ever! We booked 3 months ago.............For May 3rd thru 10th. Weather has been great 1. Outdoor pool being renovated..............As in you cannot use, workers are rude and It is a big deal when you have small children and after a morning at the beach, they want to be at the pool. NO NOTICE WAS GIVEN AT ANY TIME DURING OUR BOOKING OR AFTER TO SAY " OH BY THE WAY THE OUTDOOR POOL IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND HAS BEEN FOR 4 MONTHS AND ONE OF OUR BIGGEST AMENITIES THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE. I inquired with girl at front desk upon arrival. " Sorry I cannot do anything about that now" And Barrier Island wonders why they have 2.5 star reviews!!!! 2. NON-EXISTENCE WIFI SERVICE: ONE OF OUR OTHER BIGGEST AMENITIES IS NOT WORKING EITHER.................. I have called repeatedly and ask for someone to look at our unit or bring an wifi enhancer/extender. NO RESPONSE FROM FRONT DESK, I have left messages every day. Guess they are BUSY, fielding other complaints, I am sure! 3. If you are going to have advertise a partial Kitchen. I may skip this location moving forward!!!

There are absolutely things about this TownPlace Suites that I would like to see changed or that I…read moredidn't like, however I'm still giving 5 stars because of the location and the setup they have here and because I personally would go back without a second thought. First, some of the issues I have: The room layout puts one bed very close to the air conditioner and because they have the old-fashioned hotel style AC units, that leaves at least one person getting directly blasted with cold air all night. Using pool towel clips to put a towel over one side of the vent did help but reduced the efficacy of the AC and made the room warmer for everyone else. Breakfast is nice (and free) but the setup of it seems to be done as if this is a business hotel and not a beach front hotel. The cereal choices were all boring adult cereals, the bread for toast was VERY whole grain (as in it had pieces of grains in it), and the only milk they had was white milk (for example). Adding a small amount of more kid-friendly breakfast elements would go a long way. The outdoor pool is sheltered from the wind by the sand bank and gets really hot in the sun, a lightweight shade over the whole (or part of) the deck would probably be a welcomed addition by most people. As for what's great about this place: The location includes a beachfront pool + small snack shack with beach access which is directly across the road from the hotel itself. This gives the best of both worlds with beachfront access as well as having better parking and more room on the hotel property. On non-weekends the price is super affordable for a beachfront Marriott property. Not to mention the only Marriott property on the Outer Banks. It's very close to great food options, many walkable. Stuff for both adults and kids is easy to access. It's also not far to many interesting sightseeing or cultural things to see. All-in-all, I would love to see some minor changes but even with some flaws this is definitely a 5 star option.

Do not stay at this hotel…read more I've stayed in many Marriott properties over the years, but I wish I could give minus five stars to TownePlace Suites OBX. Infrastructure The website photos are completely deceptive. The hotel is not well maintained, despite being built in 2017. There are leaks throughout the property, and visible pockets of mold. The "Blue House" across the street (the beach access point) feels like an afterthought. There was only one deck chair, and it was broken. The handrail leading to the deck was also broken. Hygiene Poor. The interior is not properly cleaned, and both elevators were consistently dirty. Outside, there were empty bottles and trash bags scattered around the parking lot. Beach access Disappointing. If you're expecting easy, relaxing beach access based on the website photos, you'll be let down. You have to cross a street where pedestrians don't have the right of way, pass the poorly maintained deck, and then use stairs to reach the beach. Not worth the hassle. Breakfast Very poor. It's grab-and-go, extremely limited, and tasteless. Skip it and eat elsewhere. Service Unhelpful. We prepaid for a three-night stay but decided to leave after two nights due to the issues above. The front desk did not offer any flexibility or even a credit toward another Marriott property--we simply lost a night. Save yourself the headache. Stay elsewhere--areas like Duck or Corolla offer a much better experience. I'd also avoid Kill Devil Hills altogether; it's not walkable and doesn't offer a pleasant stay.
