I booked The Burrus House Inn about a month prior to arrival for my husbands birthday. I called a week prior to check on a few things and all was well. The night before we left, I was checking a link in my confirmation email and was informed that the reservation was cancelled. I was after hours and when I called the inn, but the inn keeper called me right back and sorted things out! We arrived at the charming Burrus House Inn the next day. Upon check in we were informed that we were upgraded to make up for the cancellation fiasco.... Um yes please! The room was amazingly huge and to top it off it had its own private balcony! They have continental breakfast served each morning and serve happy hour with wine and charcuterie from 4-6 each evening, which is a great bonus! Also if you are looking for a special dessert during your stay, they have a chocolate cake that is to DIE for!! They went above and beyond to make our stay special, so thank you! We really enjoyed our stay at Burrus House Inn and will visit again!

My husband and I had a fantastic time at Burrus House Inn. The room and views are lovely. We enjoyed the continental breakfast and happy hour wine and snacks. This inn is so quaint and perfect for a romantic getaway. I'd highly recommend it.

What a wonderful Inn right on the water in Manteo. The renovations are wonderful and I look forward to the other updates to come. The complimentary kayaks, paddleboards and bikes were a hit with my family. Beautiful views, a delicious continental breakfast and convenient to everything in Manteo, Nags Head and all of the Outer Banks. We will be back in August for a longer stay and to see the Lost Colony...only a five minute drive away. We can't wait to visit the Inn at Manteo again soon!

Had a hard time deciding where to stay because we don't really care for bed & breakfast. But this was an excellent choice. It was so quiet and private. And was set with an amazing view!!!! We would definitely stay there again.

This place is a salty gem, and it is truly a great getaway. The view is amazing and each suite is decorated uniquely; to be completely honest, my heart was stolen with the wine opener, the view, the jetted tub, and the premium bed! We will be back!! A big thank you to Vicki for making us feel so welcome during our stay!

From 4-5pm they had happy hour with complementary wine and appetizers. The Inn owners were so nice and offered great recommendations for things to see and do in the area. We took their suggestion to have dinner at Salt and Cyprus with waterfront views and great cocktails. In the morning, the inn's breakfast was perfect. Fresh fruit, homemade muffin, coffee, juice, biscuits and gravy, and scrambled eggs. With our short stay, we ran out of time to try out their fire pits and take a bike ride through town. Next time we'll have to stay at least two nights!

There spare no expense to make the guests feel like royalty. First of all, high end coffee machine, fresh made cookies every day, ice cream sandwiches in the freezer... Then, the breakfasts are like dining in a Michelin star restaurant. Easily would be $25-30 in a restaurant. They have a happy hour(s) each night from 4 to 6 and serve 3-4 high quality wines and an assortment of local and regional beers. David and Tania are amazing hosts and we will definitely be back. There is lost to do and see in this area and the White Doe is a perfect hub for all things north OBX.

The staff in the office once you arrive are so patient and welcoming, so checking in was so easy !!! If you have any issues in your suite or questions about locks, they will gladly come over and assist you. The excellent cleanliness of all the suite and the attention to detail to making your stay comfortable is outstanding !!! The rooms are spacious, very clean, full kitchen, large bathroom, very very comfortable bed, living room, dinning room, a nice balcony and chairs for you to enjoy view of the water, sunset and sunrise, easy access to boardwalk and gazebo on small pier. Also with access to a large swimming pool and hot tub for relaxation... Another plus is it's located between Manteo and Kitty Hawk, so you have plenty of options of places to go for drinks, a good meal, sight seeing, or for a good time in the water. If you are planning to come out here do keep them in mind for a great and comforting stay. Do inquire about specials for special events and specials rooms. My husband and I had a wonderful experience just two years ago this month at First Colony Inn,…read morewhich prompted us to book another visit this past Saturday 3/21 through this morning, Tuesday 3/24. What an incredible disappointment it was. The comparison was stark. The entire property is in need of attention. The porch swing we enjoyed outside our room (#11) two years ago was sitting on the deck this year (picture attached). The afternoon social advertised for Saturday afternoon did not happen. The boardwalk to the road was unusable and while cordoned off for safety didn't have any repairs during our stay. The beach walkway is a joke, and dangerous. The hot, made to order breakfast we'd enjoyed in 2024 was an embarrassment. Sunday morning's breakfast consisted of two small round store-bought waffles and a flaccid, microwaved piece of something unlike bacon. We chose to skip breakfast on Monday and Tuesday mornings and pay to eat elsewhere. In general, the inn appears to be falling to ruin. The bathroom floor was sticky and clearly unclean. The mini-fridge froze our sodas. We never saw any innkeeping staff on premises other than the nice young man who brought us our breakfast on Sunday morning. The quality of the food was not his fault; clearly, the days of having a cook make special breakfasts of the day are a thing of the past. What in the world has happened? First Colony Inn deserves far better than the lack of care and attention it is currently getting and so do its guests. Kirsten S.

Break fast was nice but hot food was just reheated premade items. As in picture. Not the quality we got last time. Pastries were held over each day for the next day. By day 3 ? The big thing was you couldn't get coffee until the office was unlocked at 8am. We are early risers and like coffee in am. The other thing was the toilet in our bathroom , room 3 was very low and hard for older people to use. The room was not as clean as I remember in the past. Would I stay again ? I don't know. Were before I would have said definitely.
