The style and theme was modern nautical which fit the surrounding area. The room had a fridge and microwave and two bedrooms. The bathroom had a spacious rainfall shower. Amenities - The hotel has an outdoor pool & hot tub and large sun deck with multiple loungers. The pool was heated to a enjoyable temp and the hot tub had good jets. Access to the beach is just a short walk from the sun deck. You can purchase an umbrella and two chairs for $40 a day. Food - Like every Doubletree location, warm cookies are always available whenever you want. We were staying here during Valentine's Day and they offered a fun and creative date night menu. Food was good but it was a tad pricey. There was a pool bar that offered drinks and food. We liked the bucket drinks - great price and strong. Vibe - Easy going beach vibe from staff and customers. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - This choice offers a great beach-centered hotel yet it is close enough for shopping, nightlife and food. Located on a stretch of secluded beach, the resort has a wonderful "Old Florida" vibe. The two bedroom, one bath apartments are "beachy": tile floors, comfy furniture, good beds, well-equipped kitchens. Website photos are spot-on! 2. Led by owner Wendell, the staff--Flor, Lillian, and Carol--meticulously maintain the property. The paint's fresh and colorful, landscaping is impeccable, everything's clean, and every issue is addressed immediately. When we had a small glitch with our air conditioner, a repairman remedied it as soon as Wendell learned about it. 3. There's a real sense of community among the guests, many of whom are regulars. Because of its small size, there's an intimacy that we seldom encounter in larger resorts. Our dog Mo made friends with everyone, including other four-legged visitors. 4. Guests are welcome to no-charge commercial grade washers and dryers, fridges and freezers full of snacks and beverages, a barbecue area with gas grills and tables, and plenty of beach-side seating. We even caught a couple of SpaceX launches from the beach. 5. Outdoor activities: I'm a cyclist and the stretch of A1A that SSR sits on is perfect for flat-land riding. Sebastian Inlet State Park and Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, the nation's first NWR, are close by. I'm not a fisherman, but other guests did plenty of fishing from the beach. 6. The living room had one chair, a small couch and a large tv. The bedroom was good sized. It had a queen size bed, a dresser and a small chair. It would have been nice to have a king size bed as that is what we have at home (that took a few days to get use to). And then there is a full bathroom off of the bedroom. It's a bit small and there is a pedestal sink so not a lot of room for hairbrushes/toiletries, etc. There are some small cubbies above the toilet though. The beach is very close to the rooms, maybe 40 feet away. The owners of this motel are super friendly. All in all, it was a very pleasant week there. We would definitely stay there again. And the room door had such a drab--almost government facility--look about it. But again, past that, we enjoyed the room and especially the views! We only stayed 2 nights, and needed them to send up extra soaps. And if you've read other reviews (here or other sites), the rumors are true: you can't open the slider door that's in the bedroom. You can only open the slider off the main room. The location is great and in the vicinity of plenty of shops, restaurants, and things to do. We did a bioluminenscents kayak tour one night. Oh! And check the SpaceX launch schedule during your trip. You could have the luck of watching a space launch right from the comfort of your personal balcony. The restaurant is a little pricier than I'd like, but there's the shop in the corner as well as a Starbucks for other options as well as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and InstaCart. Plenty of nice places to sit and work or wait for folks. Nice and dark out back for the turtles (and the stars!), and the live music was an excellent addition. The sunrise views were unmatched. Beach access and a rinsing station. The only complaint I made was the WiFi was a little slow for working and the power outlet at the desk in my room didn't seem to be working (I reported it on checkout, and they thanked me profusely and sent maintenance up, I didn't report it sooner because there were numerous locations where I could work in this room, so it didn't impact my stay). Because we were traveling, we didn't check our email in the morning. Why should this matter? When we got there we kept looking for the office. Heads up - no office. I went to call them to see what we should do when I found a text message telling me what the code for the door was. Again, we were traveling and I am not the sort of person who is glued to my phone. Just a heads up if you stay here. You don't check in - you get a text. This 'suite' had a queen size bed. The only chairs were fold up chairs put next to a very small fold up wooden table in the kitchen. There was no place else to sit, except the bed. There is a kitchen with pots, pans, etc but no toaster. We didn't discover that until we tried to make breakfast. There is a Keurig, microwave, fridge, and stove in the room. The AC was loud but cooled off the place nicely. At night though when it would kick on it would raise up the sheet off me. Sorta strange. The room could have definitely been cleaner. I'm not sure when the last time the kitchen window sill had been wiped off. There were many dead bugs on it. The bead board in the bathroom was separated from the wall and they tried to use caulk to 'fill' it. It didn't work. The shower was small but nice. My only gripe was there was no place to set down the soap or shampoo, wash cloth, etc. They do provide soap, shampoo, and conditioner and they aren't stingy with them! The building we were in needs to be updated. There is a lovely patio out by the ocean with comfortable seats and stunning views. There is a dune and they have a wooden stairway down to the beach. The beach is incredible. It is like you have your very own private beach. The Sea View also has chairs, umbrellas, floats, etc for your use. Oh and there is a fish cleaning station if you surf fish. I gave the place 3 stars due to the location. If I stay here again, it will be in the building with the rooms that face the ocean, not in the back building. For the price, we could have stayed elsewhere but the seemingly private beach is great. I hope the owners update the property a bit though.
